MoonlightSylv got a reaction from TukangUsapEmenq in What is the best OS?
Depends on use case, I've tried switching off Windows but the inconvenience of dual booting for certain applications is an annoyance. Other people make it work fine though, Manjaro is my favorite version of Linux but Ubuntu is pretty easy to get into as well.

MoonlightSylv reacted to Entropy. in Recommendations for durable and good sounding headphones under $200
I would probably go with the Hifiman he400se, he400i2020 (used, its out of production, should be around $100 usd), or the Sennheiser hd560. Would pair them all with the Meizu dongle, nice clean dac and it’ll feed the headphones a bit more juice than most standard aux outputs on devices. If you don’t have usbc, you’ll need an adapter for your phone/pc/ devices. If you’re on your desktop pc, do yourself a favor, no front panel audio, kek. Recommendations might vary depending on what sound signature you like and what music you like. Honestly, If you don’t mind waiting if 100% try to look around for stores that demo headphones like the ones mentioned above, and when they allow for it (when COVID restrictions lift enough for you to try on headphones) I’d go to them, try on headphones in your price range, and just see what you like. Everybody’s preference plays a role in what headphone is right for them, and if you don’t know how a headphone sounds before you buy them, or if you don’t even know what to look for in a headphone or what you like, it’s unlikely that’ll you’ll be able to make the best decision... for you.

From what I remember, I wasn't offended by them. Sadly I've never listened to M40Xs, so I can't make any direct comparisons. They have a decently neutral responce, with a bit of a kick in the low end. Though I thought the Takstar Pro82s sounded better, but I probably wouldn't trust a Pro82 to last too long under rough treatment.

MoonlightSylv reacted to pythonmegapixel in Google Docs to prompt users to write in language that does not offend
I have very little patience for people who actively moan about the use of inclusive language. The classic example is singular they/them - it's been the standard where gender is ambiguous or not defined for a very long time, and in any case why the f*ck does it bother you so much that people don't want their gender ingrained in everything anyone says about them? If someone prefers they/them, just use they/them; it's not that hard!
Anyway - rant aside, I really don't think it's the role of a word processor or a multinational conglomerate to determine this. The word processor is the 21st-century equivalent to a pencil and paper - and you don't expect your pencil and paper to judge what you write with it!
We need to get people in society to be more inclusive, but this is not the way.

MoonlightSylv got a reaction from prysm in First Build in 10 years - MSI X570 Creation compatiability with 5950x
It doesn't seem like this board supports the ability to update the bios without a CPU, the earliest version that supports the 5000 series is version 7C36v1B which released on November 11th. It likely didn't ship with that version. I've heard of some manufacturers shipping out "BIOS update kits" that include the necessary components to update the BIOS so that may be worth looking into. Otherwise just pick up a cheap 2000 series chip (your motherboard also seems to support certain 1000 series chips too https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/PRESTIGE-X570-CREATION#support-cpu)

MoonlightSylv got a reaction from kirashi in Best hacks to lowering Memory as much as possible on Windows 10
Do a clean install of Windows to eliminate HP's bloat, you should really consider adding a second 4GB stick at some point. 4GB is pretty low for modern computing.

MoonlightSylv reacted to Moonzy in Asus Prime x570 pro dram light on
You'll need an older CPU to do it unless your board supports bios flashback
You could ask a shop nearby to do it for you, or the place you bought the PC from
Or you could register for a kit from AMD, I think they're still providing the service the lend it kits for bios updates

I'm confused with what the actual problem is. Is it that your have errors in Chkdsk or is Windows itself not functioning well? Why did you need to use the Reset Feature? You're better off just formatting and reinstalling Windows from scratch if you ever need to use the Reset feature.

Woah. I kinda love that this exists. And I don't have time to read through 1400 pages of back posts (despite the fact that I always want to read threads that have survived multiple years on forums) so I'm just gonna throw my shit in here.
So Hi! I'm queer. And genderqueer (they/them please, if that's a thing people need to know) And I've had a lot of coming outs, as different things, because I'm not a youngster anymore and things change with time. Most recently it's been of pronouns. Before I left my last job I made a big deal of coming out (which was a long time coming). Had come back from being furloughed for 2 or so months and I wrote an e-mail to the whole store. This dude, who worked in the warehouse, who is probably 6'5" and plays guitar in a metal band, usually has a serious look on his face. Could definitely intimidate the hell out of a person. Came up to me and pulled me aside, said he wanted to talk. And I have been on good terms with him, have had good discussions about metal and life and whatnot, but I was unsure of how he might feel about this. But he wanted me to know that he was in my corner, offered to deck anybody that gave me guff, and let me know he was looking out for me and offered me a COVID style hug. Luckily he didn't have to deck anybody. But I love it when uncertainty in those situations is totally unwarranted. And he ended up being one of my biggest supports there.

MoonlightSylv reacted to DailyProcrastinator in Enough power?
No, but a PSU being 80+ Bronze is not indicative of it being low quality or requiring an upgrade, and it could be a quality unit despite its '80+' rating. So all I am is saying is that it is not a metric in which you should recommend a PSU upgrade on.
This unit happens to not be very good with regards to quality, but that has nothing to do with it's Bronze rating.
If the PSU in question was a Corsair CX/CXm 450W I would say an upgrade is not required at all as the quality of the PSU is a lot better than the EVGA BR units, despite both being 80+ Bronze.
No problem! Just refer to that PSU Tier List, in truth just got for a Tier A option. There are relatively affordable options out there, and 550W is more than enough, even for future upgrades unless you get the itch for a really powerful GPU like a RTX 3070 / RX 6800 etc.

MoonlightSylv got a reaction from Pumpkinhead666 in Is there a HWMonitor like program for Mac?
So I was able to install Mac OS X 10.10.1 on my PC and I was wondering if there was a program for monitoring temps, specifically GPU temps. I tried a program simply called "Hardware monitor" but it only showed my hard drives.
