  1. Still use it to login to webui on my nas as it works better with IE 11
  2. Video editor PC upgrade from intel CPU to Ryzen threadripper
  3. Unfortunately windows 8.1 single language isn’t activated even though it comes preloaded with windows 8 single language
  4. Not on the machine as far as I can tell... don’t have the handbook with me, according to dell it’s supposed to be embedded in the bios which is supposed to be the case for machines with win8 or newer as far as I know This PC was never upgraded to windows 10 So this is theoretical? Well as far as I know..... some machine may have a COA sticker
  5. There’s apparently no product key embedded into the bios for some reason or only the dell image can see like windows 10 setup would ask for my product key even produkey can’t see it
  6. Hi, So I got the prompt to activate windows but this laptop comes with windows 8, so I’ve contacted dell and they said that to use windows 8.1/10, you’ll need to “purchase a product key” Isn’t windows 8.1 a free upgrade to windows 8 user and windows 8 is EOL?
  7. Both are the same, they lead you to windows 10 1909.... some people might prefer downloading the file 1 time instead of many pc, so the iso file is for them for systems running Windows 10 1903, it’s faster to update via windows update to windows 10 1909 as the file download size are smaller and take less time to install vs the iso/ the method you’ve specified
  8. You’ll need to be logged into an admin account and you should see the option to “change settings that are currently unavailable” click on that to change the options that are grayed out
  9. This pop up only appear if your date is set to 15/01/2020, I've timeshift the VM to get this to pop up
  10. I've used MBR2GPT /validate to make sure that it meet the requirement then I use MBR2GPT /convert to convert to GPT partition but it won't boot in both legacy and uefi not really, would prefer UEFI due to more than 2 TB support, Secure boot
  11. I've just tried it in a VM and it bricks windows(eventhough it says it's eligible, switched between UEFI and BIOS on VMware and I got nothing), so I guess on a real system I would recomend a clean install to install more than 2TB of HDD, UEFI, fast boot, secure boot then.....
  12. I didn't select the disk, I let it choose it by itself since there's only 1 disk in the system Yup, verified that it can't boot with CSM disabled
  13. Any idea how to convert an install from MBR type to UEFI(GPT)? when I try MBR2GPT/validate it tells me that it isn't eligible... did this in WINRE, CSM is on to boot into winre
  14. Might be a driver issue, try reinstalling the driver from dell website
  15. UEFI only, so that windows 10 would install in UEFI mode and you’ll get secure boot, HDD >2TB support, faster post time and more Legacy install, installs windows using MBR partition type with is useful for old systems which does not support UEFI and it doesn’t support secure boot and partition more than 2TB as it’s using the MBR partition type(UEFI uses the GPT partition type )
  16. Ah, so maybe that kinda explains in 1 month the PSU fan decided to make loud fan noise for like 5 minutes and the system builder kinda swept it under the carpet( basically the system builder said it's quiet when he have it for diagnostic)? Also to tell the continueous is from the +12V rails X the xxamps ? Also how to tell if it's a poor/terrible PSU other than from the looks? I can tell that this PSU is terrible from the looks only and based on what I was told about the fan issue
  17. So I've just watched this video, and From this picture it says total power(max):500w Does that mean peak power?
  18. I'm guessing that you mean this plastic on the side of the socket?
  19. The concern about putting too much pressure on the cpu while cleaning the thermal paste off the heat spreader that would Bend the pin underneath right?
  20. Decided to do a test fit in a case and the coil while isn’t audible anymore
  21. So I’ve brought the thermal compound already and it apparently comes with a spreader built in to the nozzle(non removable) ..... going to reuse the intel heatsink looks like I got to apply a layer of thermal compound on top of the cpu heat spreader but if not mistaken the stock heatsink has a round contact area ..... will it overflow ?
  22. The main issue is, I would be deploying(at the end of January) this PSU 2 hours away from home, therefore it would be easier if I can spot any defect now and hope that it would last long without issues if it’s normal then I guess it would be fine in the long run ? btw I placed this PSU on top of the case for testing purposes
  23. Well, I guess time for me to clafify with cooler master..... hopefully within 7 days as I can get 1 to 1 exchange at the retail store
