Fun fact: It's possible to live with only half your brain. If you are young (like >4 years) your brain can develop and be fully operational even if only half of it is present.
This makes me wonder something. What if someone's brain split in two or something before they were born and this person started growing as if they only had half a brain to work with. They would grow up to be mostly normal because their functioning half of the brain would learn to operate as it needs to. But what if the other half of the brain also developed. Imagine this person's other half of their brain also developing into a person with their own feelings and personality. What if the first half of the brain had control over the body so everyone knew that person. The other half of the brain can accept sensory input, but cannot control the body. That second person would merely be a spectator inside someone else's body.
Now think of the mental disorder Schizophrenia (which is Latin for splitting of the mind). People who have this disorder tend to have hallucinations and believe that they are real. Hallucinations such as interacting with people who do not exist. Now what if our spectator person in the second half of the brain had a very loose connection to the first half and could attempt to communicate. What if the first half person thought they were going insane with seemingly Schizophrenic hallucinations, but in reality it was the second half person trying to reach out?

There was a patient by the name of Paul S that underwent surgery to split hit brain hemispheres in order to treat epilepsy. It turns out he had language centers in each half of his brain as well as developing a different personality in each of his hemispheres, a split personality. One half could be happy and the other would be angry and both were able to verbalize their emotions. There's been about a half dozen or case studies done on patients of this surgery and the results are actually pretty interesting. Highly recommend reading up on some of them.
