Worst computer problem? The human interface. Trying to help someone troubleshoot over the phone when they are panicking and you can hear them clicking away on the mouse.

I would apply regardless of what others on here tell you. You'll learn a lot through applying, getting rejected, or applying and getting accepted. You won't know unless you try.

Since your dad is in IT and has experience in the tech field, have him help you draft a resume (I recommend this to anyone, even a teenager). You can even use your "life skills" (though limited) to list your repair experience/computer building skills, as well as punctuality (school), attention to detail, etc. If you do any volunteer work at your church, or help others in class (tutoring) these things help as well.

Go to the shop and see how they dress too, is it polo's and slacks? Or do they wear pressed shirts and ties? Either way you'll want to dress up, shine your shoes, cut your hair and be well groomed.

Burger king isn't the best job in the world, though it will bring you some cash. I used to work there when I was your age, and don't miss it at all.

In this instance the lady was clearly wrong. The was no threat of physical violence towards her, and the suspect was running away with the "goods". If the facts are correct the guy never pulled a firearm on her or threatened her. Even the fact that she shot out the rear tire didn't do anything to slow the suspects down and they still go away. From the article:

"Under most circumstances, officers are allowed to use deadly force only if there is imminent danger of death or great bodily harm to themselves or someone else. A licensed concealed weapon holder is held to a similar standard, said Rick Ector, a firearms trainer at Rick’s Firearm Academy of Detroit."

You can't blame or lump the entire population of the US into one group due to this ladies actions. She was trying to stop a thief, and her actions were way over the top. If the thief did threaten her though, tried to run her over with the vehicle, shot at her, etc, then yeah... she may have had a reason to shoot, but again... in a crowded parking lot with a lot of innocent people around? Probably not.

Try the local library, they will usually have review books for the GED. If you want something more in depth and have the money, you could hire a tutor. An option I use with my kids are the "Brain Quest" books that we get during the summer to help them review so they don't lose/forget the stuff the studied the previous school year:

If you're looking for something to start with at the "very beginning", the "Brain Quest" book is a good place to start.

vXhanz reacted to MageTank in Z170 and X99 advice
You also said "not really" 3 times, when presented with the notion that the Z170 offerings are superior in gaming. That is why they kept replying to you. That being said, i'll shed some light on this myself. In gaming, "MOAR CORES" does not translate to better performance. Some games can take advantage of the extra cores (Assassins Creed Unity) but 90% of all games will not even care. At that point, single threaded performance becomes the deciding factor. Skylake has roughly a 5% IPC improvement over Devils Canyon Haswell. Couple this with the average 4.5-4.7ghz OC the 6700k is able to achieve, and you have yourself a fine gaming chip.

The 5820k will not show any tangible difference in gaming at all. In fact, it might show the opposite in some titles (MMO's). Couple this with the fact that the X99 SKU's IMC can be very picky (Seriously, go check out the people overclocking their DDR4 kits over on OCN), it leads us to the conclusion that the X platforms are for bridging the gap between workstation and gaming. It is a jack of all trades, but master of none. For strictly gaming, Z170 wins. If you want me to be honest, Z97 is probably even better for gaming. Benches have already shown that DC Haswell and even Broadwell, can beat Skylake in several titles (This is rumored to be due to the 3% performance loss in FPU performance on Skylake). However, OP wants something that will last longer, and the extra PCIE lanes and features will certainly aid in that endeavor.

@kitsune1324. Here are some of the few differences between X99 and Z170.

    Z170:
16 PCIE lanes (from the CPU) +20 PCIE lanes (From PCH) meaning you can 2-way SLI while still running 3 PCIE 3.0 SSD's (thank you @Lays)
Slightly stronger IMC (helps your system remain stable when overclocking memory to higher speeds)
Slightly higher IPC (This is what will show slightly improved gaming performance)
    Lower power consumption
Lower TDP (Easier to keep it cool)

    X99:
    Up to 40 PCIE lanes
    Quad channel memory
Higher core configurations (Great for things that can use more cores, such as compression and video rendering)
Soldered TIM (No need to delid, range of core temps should be much closer to each other. Though they still benefit from a great lap)
    Support for upcoming Broadwell-EP

Considering the price difference between these two choices are not too steep, one would probably say X99 will have a longer lifespan than Z170. Broadwell-EP will be coming in Q2 of 2016, and should be quite the offering to the platform. Z170 will be getting Kaby Lake, but from what we've seen, it will be to Skylake as what Broadwell was to Haswell. A side-grade. If you feel gaming is all you will ever be doing, Z170 is the simple answer. If you feel you will be doing more than just gaming, X99. I hope this wall of text has proved useful to you.

Should there be more gun control?

No. I own firearms, use them for hunting and target practice. People are going to use firearms, or whatever weapon they can get to commit a crime. The people who seem to want MORE gun control are those that think if guns were taken away, then there would be anymore crime. I'm sorry, but that's not true. Sure, take the guns away and then what? People will get pressure cookers and take them to a marathon. Now you've taken a perfectly benign object and turned it into a weapon of mass destruction. Are we going to ban pressure cookers now?

Should there be safety training at gun ranges?

Yes, absolutely. If you're going to have a firearm out in the open around other people, then you need to have training, period. The example you use is more or less the same example/training that I was given in the service. Keep your weapon pointed at the end of the range so you don't shoot the soldier next to you. Hell, even in hunter safety training they teach you how to climb over/under obstacles and what to do with your firearm when with other people.

Should it be required that you lock up ALL guns inside your own house?

No. What you do in your own home is your own business. If you're using them to protect/defend your house then how is it going to help if it's locked up? Personally, I lock my firearms up because of my kids and their friends. My kids know they are there, and know that they are not to be touched even if they are locked up. With that said, I also let the parents of my children's friends know that I have firearms and they are locked up. I also ask if they have firearms and if they are locked up. If they are not locked up, then my kids are not allowed to go into that house, period. I don't know their kids or how they were trained. I've read too many things in the news about kids deciding to "show off their guns" and the friend winds up shot and injured or shot and killed.

Too many people IMHO don't respect firearms enough and don't have the proper training to use them.

You started the thread on gun control asking for opinions so . . . umm to late.

Gun control is a senseless subject to bring up, the argument cannot be won from either side. There will always be a reasoning from either direction. I can come up with a hundred reasons to not own a gun and a hundred reasons to own a gun. Anyone with half a brain should be able to see this. It all boils down to ones preference or fears, or a combination of both. Anyone from either side of the fence that says the other is foolish for being Anti or Pro gun are foolish.  I waited to say anything because I wanted to see just how long it would take for somebody to make an American comment about gun owners    for shame. Americans are the least of the worlds problem with this. ( I am not saying this because I am an American). Americans are the only ones that have a Second Amendment Law so we get bad press about it. American founders were smart to place it because they were aware of history (if you don't know what I mean look it up).

I am pro gun, because I hunt and I also want to protect myself and my family from wackos. ever heard of the phrase don't bring a knife to a gun fight? My pocket knife wont do squat when a thug come after me with a gun. The argument about more gun control will stop thugs from getting access to guns, lol, how is that working out for you guys in Europe? thugs still have access to guns. Sorry no offense meant to the Europeans here directly. So when all the gun, in theory, are removed from society whats the next battle knives? swords? spoons? I can tell you right I can think of a way to kill any person with every single item that is within reach of me at this moment.

Do I need a gun to defend myself? not really but I am a trained soldier so it would not take much for me to snap a neck but I am not stupid enough to let somebody to get close enough to prove me wrong either. Then again I can tell you of how many times a soldier was prosecuted for doing just that, snapping a neck in self-defense but because he was a train soldier the prosecutor used the argument the the soldier himself was a weapon and he used excessive force on his attacker but the defendant lawyer was able to get the charges dropped because he argued that when the soldier left the marines he was suddenly supposed to forget his training? yeah right good luck there, anyhow he argued that the soldier defended himself utilizing training he used to his benefit and the soldier testified he had no intention of killing the attacker it just happen that way because of how the fight went down and CSI people were able to confirm it soldiers story.
If I chose to use a gun, own a gun or whatever that is my right to preserve my well being with whatever means I need to do so at the moment my life come in danger. The logic behind gun control is like trying to solve the issue with mice infestation, it cant be controlled (ask the Australians). No matter were, no matter when a weapon will be used to murder, maim, or destroy and when the next generation comes around it will be lasers, phasers or whatever the heck it will be that will be up for debate and guns will no longer be the thing as it will be old tech just like swords, out dated. Conversations such as this are a useless waste of time.

Honestly I am surprised by the civilized conversation this thread has taken thus far with as much strife this forum has been going thru lately but this is good and it shows people are understanding how to be civil about others opinions.

    To answer OP's questions:
Should there be more gun control?
No, there many laws and gun control policies in place that are not being enforced. The real question is do we need to actually implement them? Yes
Should there be safety training at gun ranges?
Yes, but only required to those with out previous training.
Recommend .5hr to all newbie to the current range just for familiarization of that ranges rules.
Should it be required that you lock up ALL guns inside your own house?
Absolutely not, if you own a gun and are responsible about being a gun owner your children will be similarly taught to respect those guns and know they are off limits. If I was not at home then obviously yes I would lock them up in case of a burglary but not when I was home as why would I lock up a gun I bought for self defense?
