  1. Hey everyone, its okay! We've got an expert on SA accusations and what makes them valid - because she didn't have a camera setup documenting the incident then there's absolutely no way it could've happened, it must be a lie. Couldn't be a more nuanced issue, it really is that black and white! Case closed, move on!
  2. I found out about this via a youtube comment on the new video, which had the most likes out of any other comment thread by far. LTT has removed that thread as well as the others that mentioned the situation. The ones there now are new and fresh but probably won't last long, and it doesn't give me hope about this whole situation. Trying to supress discussion about this very serious issue is not a good look regardless of where you stand, especially when the comments simple asked that LTT address this too. God, this is genuinely the most heartbreaking fall from grace I've seen from a content creator I enjoy
  3. I understand people wanting to wait until more comes out and/or wait until LTT responds but too many in this thread alone are immediately jumping to play HR for LTT and deny, deny, deny. If you want to claim we should wait until we have all the facts until we start trashing Linus, fine, but that goes both ways. There's no legitimate reason we should dismiss any of this, let alone assume poor intentions on her part (because I'm sure she was really excited to paint a red target on her back and cop some of the most vile filth on the internet). There's a good chance we'd benefit from hearing other perspectives that I'm sure we will get in the next 24 hours but why anyone would dismiss everything in this so easily is beyond me. Linus doesn't know you exist and he never will, clearly none of us want any of this to be true but jumping to defend him with nothing more than "oh pfft why didn't she just sue" or "hmm i don't know why but she probably made this up" is next level fanboy behavior
  4. Sorry, should've been clearer in the post - I've run multiple tests on the RAM, and have tested with a different PSU but like I said it happens at random and stress tests don't seem to be causing the random shutdowns so i'm not sure what else could be causing it. And no, it couldn't be power going out since the server goes in and out quite frequently whilst the power remains on for the rest of the house.
  5. Okay, this is my first "please dear god help me" post since I've exhausted all other options and i desperately need help so forgive the word-vomit that might follow: Basically, my Media Server of 6 months randomly restarts, has all the symptoms of a faulty PSU yet has passed every stress test I've thrown at it and can vary in it's uptime. Sometimes it's a few days, but typically it doesn't stay consistently up for longer than that. I know it's a hardware problem because I initially thought it was software, I went to wipe Ubuntu and just go Windows but as I clicked on edge to install Plex, the server shutoff and restarted. Despite all of my digging through logs on both Linux and Windows I can't seem to find anything that signals what caused the shutdown. I've run the thing through countless stress tests for hours on end intermittently for months, testing RAM, CPU, the integrated GPU and just today i left it running for 6 hours on OCCT testing the Power Supply. Voltage rails were consistent and I'm all out of options, frankly. At this stage, it's gotta be either the Motherboard or the PSU but i don't have the disposable income to just buy another motherboard and hope that fixes it. What's worse is I have no way of triggering it!! So frustrating! The server can handle 100% load for 6+ hours but it'll randomly shutoff whether it's transcoding videos for Plex or just running at idle. The most I've been able to discern is that sometimes if it's been sitting there for hours and I go to one of my web services that's running on the machine, I assume the sudden action causes the thing to freak out and shut down. And then about a week ago, the thing shutoff at some point (not sure how long it was down for) and didn't turn back on! I thought the PSU was dead, tested the server with a spare dell 250W PSU i have to test the motherboard and it booted! But then, just to see, when i pulled the PSU out i plugged it back in to double check and to my surprise it worked! That's what prompted the 6+ hour test on the PSU via OCCT, left it running when I went to work and came back to a perfectly stable system.... I guess my question is, has anyone had problems similar to this, is there anyway I can test the motherboard, maybe some stress tests i'm missing that might be more appropriate or am I really just stuck in the fact I've gotta buy another motherboard, hope it stays up for more than a week and then see if i can get the warranty back on the current motherboard? I've never had this much of a problem troubleshooting a PC and it's been immensely frustrating, I appreciate any help at all!! The specs of my Server as as follows: CPU: Intel i3 8100 Motherboard: MSI B365M Pro-VH PSU: Cooler Master MWE 550W White Storage: 4TB NAS Seagate + 4TB Compute Seagate + 250GB Seagate + 120GB SSD
  6. Linus, really hope that you see this: I've been watching for years and I don't think I could have ever gotten into PC's, hardware or tech in general if I never found your videos. I wish nothing but the best for you but from personal experience please, put yourself first. At the core of everything that you do, that any of us do, is our well-being and that needs to be tended to, not put off to the side. Eventually that breaks, and then everything else crumbles. Nothing's more important than you and your family and as much as it would break my heart to see you disappear (lets be honest though, I'm sure you'd always be around for a video or two), the thought of you pushing yourself and your family further than it can breaks my heart even more. We're all here to support you and want the best for you - personal struggles such as these should be tended to and I hope that when you feel like you're up to dialing it back a bit you allow yourself that option, which is what it sounds like you're openly admitting in this video which is good. I've never met you but I love ya man, honestly, and wish you and your family goodwill and know that whatever decision you do make the community will support and stand behind you.
  7. Would totally go but, you know, living in Sydney, having no job kinda doesn't help...Maybe i'll have to start a gofundme or something
  8. but wouldn't it have to match my carrier? The i9507 is similar to the i9505 except it supports 4G, according to gsmarena
  9. Oh wow, seriously? Is it my specific model (i9507)?
  10. So you guys think i should just look into replacing the board? Stupid question, but where would i go about finding one online? Like, are there any specific sites? I'd rather try to avoid the $230 as it's something i can just do myself
  11. Hi, first time posting so apologies if i screw something up haha Okay, so some context! Months ago whilst out at a party, my galaxy S4 decided to reboot out of nowhere, and it became stuck in a boot loop. I did what i have normally done in the past in this situation, turn it off and turn it on again. Only this time.... it didn't turn back on. When i got home, i found that it wouldn't even charge. I went to a friends house and replaced the battery, thinking my charger port might have broken but still, nothing. It won't turn on, it won't charge, it won't do anything. Being the little teenage sleuth that i am, I've researched this problem and found that the power IC more than likely blew and is no longer functional. My experience with fixing phones so far is just replacing a charger port on my old S2 haha so i'm not exactly experienced enough to tackle this myself. Unfortunately, I have no warranty (i might have rooted it.....) and most phone repair shops i have talked to only do simple repairs, like replacing screens and charger ports, and the shops that will listen to my woeful story won't do much. One store took a look and said it can't be fixed, while the other said that they will replace the motherboard entirely (something that will cost me AU$230 ) and it doesn't help the fact that i'd like to preserve the onboard data, if at all possible. I've seen videos of people, and read posts of people claiming to have replaced the chip successfully, however i cannot do it myself and no shops are really willing to do it for me. SO, all of that aside, my question is (drum roll) : Is it worth the effort to try and find someone who would be willing to replace the chip, or should i try to source a new motherboard (that matches my carrier and model) and just replace the board entirely? Thank you!!
