East Coast Canada shipping to west coast California, is expensive. But yeah i feel bad throwing it out, but yeah might be able to give it away for parts.

    Hey guys,
As some of you may know my 670 caught fire one day last year after a power flicker. It was within warranty during that time so I sent it in and they sent it back with a new piece on the PCB soldered on. This worked for a month or two then it just wouldn't turn on anymore...

So now I am stuck with a nice 670 that is out of warranty and does not work, I am wondering how I should get rid of this as it has been sitting in a draw for a year.

In the PCB picture the area in red is where there was replacement parts.

Stick with a stock cooler. Temps will be plenty fine, as kaby lake runs cool and you won't be putting any kind of crazy loads on it for a long time in an office use.

Edit- also don't get a z170 board, get the cheapest b250 board you can find (From a reputable company like Asus, gigabyte, msi)

sure your motherboard or some other component isn't shorting out on the case? I would say remove it from the case and try but not sure how practical that would be with your cooling.

But why not have a network server as your storage and just keep a couple SSD's in the tower to save space?

You could just use IP Cameras that write to a drive over the network. You can set up remote management and viewing fairly easy with most.

Luc401 reacted to Mira Yurizaki in Does seagate have an equivalent to WD Black or is the barracuda the only choice for them? Also are SSHDs worth using?
Everyone will tell you Seagate sucks. Everyone will also tell you WD sucks. But nobody seems to tell you Hitachi or Toshiba sucks (but I'm sure that's changing). Point is, there's no HDD maker that sucks. Just people who got unlucky and would rather voice their complaints.

Anyway, Seagate's WD Black equivalent is the Barracuda line. Firecuda is the same, just as an SSHD. SSHD's are only useful if you find yourself accessing the same data often. It's basically a large amount of non-volatile cache on top of the normal cache. So for OSes and such, they're useful. For games, they're not as useful unless it happens to be the only game you play.

For some I believe you open it move it to the desired monitor, close it. Reopen it and it should be on the correct one. Not for all applications tho.

Display Fusion may have a function for this as well....

Ssds are faster, more durable, longer usage but they cost more and they are hard to recover data if they die.

HDDs are slower, less durable and will die sooner, but are cheaper and easier to recover data if they die.

Recent story. One of my friends has been so excited to get his google pixel recently, i have no clue why its just another smartphone... Anyways he gets it and starts installing all of his apps. 10 days later he remembers an app he has yet to install called "Yikyak" he goes installs it launches it and it uses local services to find location. His location isnt working on the app. I tell him to reboot his phone, he said no thanks, I knew this was the fix since I've had this problem before. After 5 minutes of arguing with him he says "I dont want to reboot my phone because it damages it and I dont want to break it my new phone" I just kinda sat there in amazement. Couple minutes later he asks me how to reboot his phone that he has for 10 days now and the app works after the reboot.... WHY ARE PEOPLE SO IGNORANT.
