  1. Okay, so I’ve isolated the problem down to 1 of my 2 sticks. I made sure it’s not my motherboard slot by putting the one known good stick in the slot where the bad stick was and it was still fine. Looks like I’m working with faulty hardware. Any other ideas? I tested by seeing if memtest threw errors, and with the bad stick in, it threw errors from test 1 onwards.
  2. How do I loosen timing? I really don’t know how to mess with that. XMP vs non XMP (downclocked setting) seem to not really change how many errors I get from memtest.
  3. Disabling turbo boost unfortunately has no effect on how many errors memtest sees. I think it's definitely my RAM, but I have no idea how to fix it. Idek what could be wrong, like is it bad timings (but XMP should take care of that, no?) or too high clock speeds? (but I already downclocked it below manufacturer specs and that did nothing) or is it undervolted? (I increased it from 1.35 to 1.4 with no change)
  4. I just wanted to add that I ran memtest, and it aborted on test 4 because I got over 10k errors. This isn’t looking good
  5. Whoops, I forgot to mention that I did update it to that, which still didn't fix anything.
  6. I just built a new PC with mostly brand new parts, but of course the one used part, my RAM, is most likely giving me issues. I've only had this for a day, so I haven't had much of a chance to check stability, but the one stress tester I've used to check it is Prime95. Running that gives me rounding errors, and it even caused my PC to BSOD once (something page file related, probably happened because I disabled the page file. It has since been re-enabled and that BSOD hasn't come back). I isolated it to my RAM, as running the other CPU intensive tests doesn't fail and the RAM intensive test has tests failing within the first minute. It's a set of G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB 3200MHz 2x16GB sticks. I've tried running them on non XMP and XMP settings, both of which lead to similar results with tests failing because of rounding errors. I've tried increasing voltage up to 1.4V from the default 1.35V with absolutely no change. Any idea what might be wrong? Here's a screenshot showing tests failing: Everything is running at stock, no tweaks. My setup is as follows: AMD Ryzen 5800X Gigabyte B550M Pro-P G.Skill RAM as mentioned EVGA 750W B5 PSU EVGA GTX 1080
  7. That's a great case! For the 2nd part, I get your point, I haven't had much luck finding non overpriced 2nd hand boards. Would you recommend I save up for an upgrade to a more recent CPU system in that case?
  8. I'd say get a 500W one, as I have an i7 and a GTX 1080 running on one. Corsair's a pretty solid brand, as I've used their CX500 for the past almost 6 years with no issues, but evga is also a good option.
  9. Sounds like it could be a dying motherboard or PSU, I'm leaning on that PSU personally. It could also possibly be power issues with your house, since you said Dell already replaced something in your build.
  10. It might be a weak power supply issue. Does the screen go blank and restart, or does it show something before it dies, i.e. a BSOD?
  11. Hey, first time on this category here, so please let me know if I did anything wrong. So basically, I'm going off to college next semester, and I'd like to downsize my PC physically so I don't have to lug around a massive goddamn tower with me. It's a cooler master storm enforcer case, and back then, 13 year old me practically nutted to this "gamer-y" look. In the past two years I've begun to regret this decision, not only because it looks disgusting to me now, and also it's huge and unwieldy. ANYWAY, on to the point of this post. It's got an i7-4790k in it, and I feel no need to upgrade it any time soon, so I'd like to switch to a micro atx board to fit inside a smaller micro atx case. My requirements for the case would be: windowed side panel, decent cable management, a minimum of three hard drive and 1 SSD slot, has front USB 3.0 ports (2 at least, more is cool!), and if it has at least 1 5.25'' external bay, that would be a huge bonus, but not required. I have this dope drawer in my case that I put a bunch of little tidbits I need to grab every now and then. The motherboard would need to have 4 RAM slots, 4 or more SATAIII slots, an isolated or better than stock sound hardware chipset, USB 3.0, gigabit ethernet, and a debug led monitor would be extremely nice (since I have a Gigabyte z97x-Gaming 5 and I'm used to them for troubleshooting) along with an M.2 slot for the possible future. Not required, but if there are any USB C ports on it, I wouldn't be complaining. I'm trying to keep costs under $200, I'm okay with looking at used hardware, but I'm willing to go above the limit if enticing options are shown. I know some of these requirements may be a little stringent, so I'd greatly appreciate your time. Thanks in advance!
  12. I would love to win one of those cases! My youtube name is ESPro5000 if by any miracle I win, and you had to verify who's ESPro5000 on the forums.
