  1. RESOLVED: For some reason both SSD's no longer work after testing on another computer. The Samsungs have a 5year warranty on them so I'll see if I can get replacements. In the mean time I purchased a Kingston SSD so I'll see how that goes.
  2. Diablo 2 for sure. It was incredible for its time with great game mechanics and a killer soundtrack. It was one of the first multiplayer games I ever got into. Since then I've struggled to play single player games as they always feel lonely regardless of how good the story line is. I need human interaction and competition for a game to peak my interest. I have diablo 2 to thank for that! Player Unknown's Battlegrounds is my current favorite at the moment. Poorly optimised and filled with bugs but still so much fun with mates.
  3. I dont have access to another PC to try this at the moment. Is there any other things I can try before having to source another PC?
  4. Hi all, My gear: MOBO - Asrock H67M CPU - Intel 2600 i7 Memory - Kingston HyperX Fury (16gb) GPU - MSI GeFroce 970 4GB PSU - EVGA SuperNOVA 750W G2 80+ Gold Storage - Samsung EVO 850 250GB Overview: Two days ago I turned my PC on and my computer loaded directly to the BIOS screen with no start up beep. The odd thing is under the storage option in the BIOS it recognises my SSD but the are no bootable devices listed in the BIOS. Also note I had another 250GB SSD as my storage device which mysteriously stopped working about a month ago. What I've tried already: Swapping out the SATA cable and trying different SATA ports in the MOBO. Hitting F8 to bring up the manual bootable device list at startup, but list is empty. Changed Legacy to UFEI which froze my BIOS on startup so I had to clear CMOS. Cleared CMOS on MOBO to refresh BIOS. Changed from AHCI mode to IDE and back again. Plugged my old disk reader into the SATA port 1 and the BIOS recognises that as a bootable device Inserted Windows OS disk and restarted computer which gave me a start up beep Tried doing a repair but would not recognise SSD Tried doing a clean re install of windows to the SSD but came up with an error stating windows cannot copy onto this storage device. Is my SSD fried or is there something im missing? Its concerning that it only happened to my other SSD a couple months ago. Both samsung SSD's are 1-2 years old respectively. Surely they have a longer lifespan than that. I've scanned through many many forums regarding this issue but couldn't find anything that helped. So I've resorted to starting my own thread on it. Any advice is greatly appreciated as im trying to avoid having to send it into a repair shop and forking out $$ Cheers
  5. Thanks mate, I'll have a look tonight. I checked my bootup options in bios to see if it was registering the old drive but I may have missed it. I'd say you are right and that could be the culprit. Cheers for the help I'll let you know if this fixes the issue.
  6. It more-so feels like a 'laggy' boot time when I plugged the HDD back in with the SSD. Going from a boot time of 23 seconds just with the HDD to almost a minute+ seems like something is amiss. Maybe my SATA cord is faulty or the power connector i used was faulty. I'll try another when I get home from work.
  7. I upgraded to 10 and it was really nice, however it does not support my wireless drivers for Netgear, yet so had to revert back to 7 until they do. My connection was coming up as 'Limited' even though I did an upgrade of drivers.
  8. I didnt format the windows off the old HDD, but i didn't think I needed to as I made the SSD the bootable drive. Was planning to wipe the old HDD after i installed the SSD as I've heard you can do that.
  9. Hi all, I recently purchased a Samsung EVO 250gb SSD. I unplugged my old 1TB HDD and plugged in my new SSD into a SATA 3 6gb/s slot on my AsRock H67m Mobo. I completed a clean re-install of windows 7 on my new SSD and downloaded all my most 'played' games and apps. The new SSD is super quick (boot time of roughly 13seconds), however my old HDD was also quite quick with a boot time of roughly 23seconds. Once I was satisfied I had everything I wanted on my SSD I plugged my old 1TB HDD back into the MOBO using a SATA 3gb/s cable into the 3gb/s slot. The boot time went from 13 seconds with just the SSD to about 1minute with the HDD plugged in. The bios took forever to beep and windows took forever to load into the login screen. Anyone got a possible answer to this? Cheers.
  10. Thank you for all the info in this post. I have a MSI GTX 970 4GB. So I should hold off upgrading to Win 10 for the time being?
  11. Thank you all for your input, this forum community is awesome
  12. Ok guys I'm looking to replace my top mounted 140mm exhaust fan as its now ripping in peace. I know there are a lot of Noctua fan boys in this forum but are the Be Quiet! Silent Wings 2 140mm PWM fans close or as good as Noctuas? I'm looking for performance as an exhaust that is also whisper quiet. FYI if you wan't to get extra life out of your fans I found that if you drop some sewing machine oil into the sleeve bearing then you can give the fan a new lease on life and it worked for all but my top exhaust fan. My NZXT fans are now running as good as when I first got them 4 years ago.
  13. Speaking for almost all Australians our internet speed is potato, and what they charge for it is criminal.
  14. Im still rocking the '2011' Sandy Bridge i7 2600 CPU on an old Asrock H67m mobo. Just bought a MSI GTX 970 to replace my dead AMD Radeon 6870 and a Samsung EVO 250gb SSD to give my pc a boost. Also my NZXT fans that came with my NZXT Hades case are starting to get a bit noisy so looking to replace those with some Silent wings or Noctua fans. Almost every single CPU that has come out since Sandy Bridge has been disappointing so I'm going to stick with my old faithful CPU until Intel or AMD pull their heads out and give the people what they want. Why upgrade when my 4 year old CPU is keeping up with newer models.
  15. Considering your age, getting a job at Macdonald's is a great idea OP. If that doesn't work out do lawn mowing/gardening for your local area. People pay good money to keep their lawns looking nice. Most important thing is to set aside a certain amount of your earnings towards your PC each pay. You'll have enough for a build in no time. Even if you just start small and upgrade over time which is what I've done. Hell, im still running a 2011 Sandy bridge i7 2600 CPU and an old school 1155 socket motherboard. But im upgrading my GPU to a GTX 970 and getting a 250gb SSD. Its not the best upgrade in the world but you cant always have the very best of everything all the time. Good luck with your build
