  1. So back in October, I began buying parts for my first budget PC build. The motherboard was one of the first parts I gotten, but I didn't test it until last week. Turns out it was DoA, so now I need a new one. Now that I saved enough for a new motherboard, the one I want cost up to 70 dollars. Since thats out of my price range, could anyone suggest a new motherboard. Specs of what I have: CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860k Quad Core processor (FM2+ CPU) Power Supply: EVGA 500 Watt Power Supply GPU: MSI Armor X2 GeForce GTX 950 Video Card RAM: 8GB HyperX Fury DDR3 1833 RAM Card Storage: 1TB Seagate Barracuda with A-Data 128GB SSD (SATA 6GB) OS: Windows 10 Professional 64 bit Case: NTXT Source 210 case
  2. Alright, here are the specs. They're not great, but I hope it should get the job done. CPU: AMD Athlon X4 860k Quad Core processor (with stock cpu cooler) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H FM2+ MicroATX GPU: MSI GTX 950 Armor 2X PSU: EVGA 500B with 80+ bronze RAM: 8GB HyperX Fury DDR3 HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda RPM 7200 SSD: Adata 128GB Solid state drive Case: NTXT Source 210 case
  3. So I recently collected all the parts I need to build my first pc, but just recently I ran to a problem. Unfortunately I have seem to run into problems which is my FM2+ motherboard, with the 24 pin connector will not work properly. I checked the PSU but that is working fine. Since this is my first build I do not want to run the luck of trying to fix this motherboard, so I'm going to get another one. So, is there anything I should know when picking out a motherboard of for when I put it into my new system?
  4. To be honest, that what I wanted to go for. ; I just needed help picking between those two cards, not have every other new or powerful card shoved in my face.
  5. Well, I picked out the cards because they seemed like the best fit for me. I don't plan or running Crysis or anything too powerful for a first time build. If I had to pick any games I would play, they would be GTA V and Skyrim with a some games around or below that those. I wanna try The Witcher as well so I guess that counts. I want to keep it simple and keep the graphics at least 1080p with them at least on high. I'm going to drive myself crazy trying tobsave for a 4k monitor. The case is a NZXT Source 210. It was a great case for me and I wanted to have something that was stylish but not with an absurd number of LEDs. This is as much info I can get off the top of my head, but I do hope it helps.
  6. So I've been looking around Newegg for a new monitor, but I've been getting nowhere with my search. The only monitor I could actually pick out is the AOC I2269VW 60Hz 21.5" Monitorhttps://pcpartpicker.com/part/aoc-monitor-i2269vw I'm trying to find one that is below $150 USD that has 1080p and a response time below 10. I know the monitor I picked out fits the bill, but I'm not sure if Best Buy will be careful with it's delivery. So if you can help me out, it will be greatly appreciated.
  7. Hello ^^ So I've been busy buying PC parts and I'm just about finished. I did run into a problem though, and that's picking out my graphics card. I've narrowed down the list between a GTX 950 and a GTX 960. I currently have an AMD Athlon X4 860k cpu and I don't plan to overclock it. (kinda afraid to really ^^; ) Still, I need some help. Which one should I get? I can pay for both, but I only want one.
  8. Hello, So I'm very new to the PC gaming trend and I am currently saving up money for my very first PC that I am going to build. The problem is that I am only halfway to current goal of $600 dollars and I just wanted to ask for some help. I want to get my pc built by the end of the year. I currently did some math to see how much I can save for how long, one being $100 for 3 weeks, the other being $75 for 4 weeks. If anyone could help with my math to save a bit more, because those are to my current income. Thank you for reading and any help will be appreciated. -Kurojima
  9. No, the monitor is not in the same budget. I'll be getting that later when I can make the purchase for it. Still I would like for it at least around $100-$150.
  10. So I've been busy with working for the money for my first computer build. I took the time to find some of the parts I'm going to need, but there are some parts I've been having a hard time picking out. Parts I picked out: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/pjgjLk So what I need to find are a GPU, PSU, Case, and Monitor. I also want to get an SSD so I can use it as a boot drive and to never go through the pain of a slow startup again. My current budget is 600 dollars, and I do have a few ideas for a case and some GPUs. Case: Cougar Spike (for the style and it being a micro ATX) GPUs: GTX 750 Ti, GTX 950, or GTX 960 I guess that's everything I could ask for. If you can hep, it would be greatly appreciated ^^ ~ Kurojima
  11. Hi everyone, So after many years with my current laptop, I am finally planning on building my very first gaming PC. I've been doing everything I can do, from going to various sites and videos to learn just about everything I can about PC building and I even went to PCPartPicker to make a list of the things I'm looking for. I've even gotten a job to start paying for the parts I have in mind. Parts list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Qp4fzy So with everything I've been doing, I still have a few questions. - Which part should I buy first? I'm thinking the graphics card because that's the biggest purchase and I really want to get that out of the way. - Are any of my parts going to have trouble with one another? I know about the bios update, but for everything else I just want to make sure and have my bases covered. - Is there anything I'm forgetting? I feel like I should buy a wireless adapter, but I don't want to cram any more parts than I need to. - Lastly, will I need a static wristband? The last thing I want to have happen is my parts being fried because I became a waking battery that can murder PC parts with a singe touch. Other than all that, I guess I want to say thank you for reading and for any help you can give ^^ - Kurojima
  12. So after going through hours of putting together a parts list, I finally got to pick out my graphics card and found 4 I would like to have. It's for my first budget build and I would like to keep the graphics card below $150 dollars. Now I'm sure the performance is about the same at this price range, but I want to get the best one I can get for now. Here are the graphics card I have in mind: Asus: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-video-card-gtx750tioc2gd5 EVGA: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-02gp43757kr Gigabyte: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvn75toc2gi MSI: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-n750titf2gd5oc
  13. First off, Hello everyone! I'm a new member of this forum and I just want to say that I'm a new fan of Linus Tech Tips and his other videos. I began learning about PC's 2 weeks ago and Linus has already been an incredible source of help in my search of my first PC. Now, while I was on PCPartsPicker, I found a Corsair 430 Power supply for 19.99 USD and I really want to pick it up before it changes. Thing is, I am quite low on funds for building a PC (which is going to be a $500 budget build), even though I am working on getting more later on. So I want to ask, should I buy it now and continue saving until I can get another part, or skip it until I buy all the parts I need at once?
