Pankaic got a reaction from ClobberXD in Is the MSI 1070 GAMING worth buying factory overclocked?
It is about binning, yes. The cards that come factory overclocked are binned to be better at overlocking, and are guaranteed to overclock to the point specified on the box (although they'll do much better than just that). Although it is certainly possible for you to get lucky and purchase a cheaper card that overclocks just as well, some people are willing to pay the extra $$ to be safe.

Also, some people just don't want to overclock their cards because of inexperience, in which case a card that comes factory overclocked will give better performance without needing to learn how to overclock the card themselves (which is really simple nowadays, so I don't know why anyone wouldn't...)

It may be optimized for VR, making it as powerful in that use case as a gtx 980 or r9 nano, but can it stand up against those $500 GPUs for regular gaming? IMO, probably not, but we shall see... If it does, then AMD will have accomplished something pretty great.

Pankaic got a reaction from IntoDarkness in Quick opinion and question about 1080
The benchmarks in their review were non-OC'd, correct? If these are the results at ~1700 MHz, and it can comfortably overclock to 2100+ (assuming the demo was any sort of baseline), then I'd imagine it should be capable of a decent amount more than what we've seen so far.

Well, I don't recall what the age restriction is, but if you're under 18, you'll need some parental approval to take the exam, and without going through the actual networking academy, you'll have to pay the full $300 fee for the exam. I'd suggest finding colleges that offer the program, unless a nearby high school has it. Very few grade schools have it though; I was very fortunate to have this opportunity. Honestly, you really don't need to prepare this far forward. Just knowing what you'd like to do in the future is enough to guide you.

Between those two, definitely get the second. But are these your only options? They aren't that great for the price, and U-skew processors aren't spectacular either

    you want a quadcore, not a dual-core low voltage i7 - go for a 6700HQ or 4720HQ and definitely the 960m

It's definitely not a 4k beast - it's just better than anything else at the moment. Hoping pascal can finally push 60 fps on max settings at 4k.

The 390 is probably the sweet spot, but the 980 is pretty much guaranteed to max out everything at 1080p. You can get a b-stock EVGA 980 for under $400 if you're interested in that option: http://www.evga.com/Products/ProductList.aspx?type=8

I honestly have no idea, but based on the pre-code price (roughly $1600), it's probably a half-decent h97 mobo and some pretty average PSU. If you're worried about the PSU, you can always just replace it.

But still. Building your own pc is a treat and if you can afford it, it's well worth it. And I wouldn't expect the 980ti to stay an expensive gpu after pascal comes out. But it's still a killer deal now

He already said he doesn't want an AMD card, just let the man be. But yeah, you gotta tell us what PSU you're considering, though for a 980, you'd probably want a high quality one with at least 600w.
