Pirating is basically the same as taking advantage of the welfare system. The people that pay are the ones that play by the rules. It's funny that you think you own the games that you buy from steam or other DRM providers. The fact is that you're basically borrowing the game for a undisclosed time. So it's NOT yours to do with whatever you want. You can't possibly defend piracy, and make it seem like the right thing to do. Can't afford a game? Save up money, or do without. I always enjoy when pirates get viruses because they deserve worse. Pirates somehow feel entitled, and the truth is they are scumbags and thieves.

If my friend steals, then yes he is a thief. It doesn't matter if he is my friend or not. He may have some other quality attributes, but he clearly has some bad qualities as well. But the truth is my friends are mature enough to not be a pirate and thief. Not saying they're perfect, but if they stole and got caught, I wouldn't defend them for their actions. They deserve what they get.

Um of course there's a difference between not being able to afford it and being self entitled. Out of the people who can't afford entertainment, the self entitled ones pirates. Yes you are correct, I have NEVER downloaded a ROM, or watched a movie or a tv show that I didn't pay for. Don't think everyone in the world is self-entitled. I bought every gameboy and playstation game I ever played, TV shows were watched on cable service, and movies were watched in a theather, or bought on a DVD. When I was a kid I spent more time playing with actual toys, digivices, and yugioh cards, although I don't know how popular those things were in america during 2001, but they were pretty popular with kids in japan. Now I might have the advantage, growing up from a rich household, but there were things I couldn't get, so I had to save up months to buy it. It's not a hard concept, kids pirate alot, because their parents failed and didn't teach them how to work for things they want.

I'd actually be fine with that, but then people are gonna bitch about that to. People bitch about ads and people bitch about paying for ad-free. People are just too self- entitled.

Even if you have dust filters you still get dust in your case. If you clean your computer monthly, dust filters don't have any benefits, they only add cost to the case and reduce fan airflow. Doesn't matter how good a fan is, a dust filter will make it perform worse.

Your question is a false dichotomy based on the assumption that getting a game, which is purely a luxury item, is a necessity.
I know it wasn't directed at me, but my answer would be: I would look for a way to engage in my hobby more cost-efficiently, i.e. wait for prices to drop, buy things on sale, if one game is too expensive right now, play another one.

If you don't have the money to buy a game, don't buy the game. You are not OWED a game just because its your hobby and you're too poor to afford it. Real life and its expenses overcome stupid games that amount to nothing in the grand scheme. Maybe those people you know should focus on increasing their financial security before spending money on games, no? 
 
No one is owed a game for any reason. Do not use justifications to trick yourself into thinking you're doing something. The semantics of theft are a grey area for some, but the fact is you're taking something you have no right to take, that doesn't belong to you on any level. 
 
If the choice is between not paying bills that actually matter or enjoying your 'hobby', get a better hobby that doesn't put your monthly payments at risk just because you want to play the latest AAA game.

144hz on the other hand, once you use it for a week or longer, next time you see a 60hz monitor, you'll go "WTF IS THIS CANCER"(this is most 144hz user's reactions when they reinstall windows, since default is 60hz.)
