You'd be surprised, it isn't as much as it seems! Most of the headphone switches cost me nothing as I sell or trade the headphones towards the new ones. The McIntosh did cost me a bit though, as they were more expensive then I was hoping (they're hard to find so I accepted his offer, and at least I got warranty)

I went HE-X > LCD 3F > and now im getting McIntosh MHP1000 in the mail.

They go in the order I got them in (HE-X being 3rd and MHP being 1st), but they're all superb cans. The HE-X had bad build quality and it just sounded bad at times. I can't explain it at all, but it would sound divine and all of a sudden it would sound pretty bleh. You just kinda had to be in the mood for them

LCD 3 were stellar as well, but the lack of clarity annoyed me to be honest. I like very good separation and such, but I felt it could be a jumbled mess sometimes

Now, the MHP1000. With all of the headphones in the world today the MHP1000 are my end game, and I can't wait for them to arrive! Sure new product may arrive in the future, but with the current market and I can't find any better.  They're an odd choice, but they're my favorite after owning/listening to practically every TOTL can minus the (HD800, HE1000, Ether C/Ether Open, LCD 4, Stax SR009, Tesla T1/T1 2nd gen, all of the other LCD's, TH900, name anything I've probably heard it) Essentially, all I want in headphones are superb clarity and separation with deep, punchy bass. The MHP1000 were very precise, had great seperation, and were detailed as well. This is comparable to the HD800, nothing unheard of yet. But what sold me was all of these features, PLUS very very good bass. Best I've heard ever I'd say, very strong (not TH900 level, but I'd say that's a good thing) but still very prominent and definitely a pleasing experience for bass lovers. For this, it wins the spot on my head  Also should mention it has all the clarity etc. WITHOUT being too airy. HEK and HD800 were too airy/open for me, whilst the MHP1000 is very engaging but still feels like an open can to me!!

edit: Also makes sense the McIntosh can was produced by Beyerdynamic, as I've always been a fan of their sound and the T1 had a place in my heart for a longgg time (and still does!)

Click-baitey title, the price is obviously going to slowly drop as more board partners come out with cards and I really dont think $631 is a price that will stay at all, probably a leak price and only a leak price.
I would just wait man, or if not then take it up the butt and pay release prices.

Great songs, the singers themselves are cool, but best of all kpop is always super high quality so it sounds great on my cans
If you want to get into tube rolling, just know the Lyr 2 is compatible with less tubes (still a ton though)

Turns out they added super good security features! To log into my computer you NEED to be logged into a specific account, and to log into my account you need an authenticator code only available on my phone. For now I'm going to roll with it and see what happens. Thanks for the help!

K-Boost may not help. I used to have issues where no matter what my GPU would throttle down its voltage and clock at a mere 68c.
It didn't cause crashes, but it can, and isn't great for stability.

I just ran Unigine Valley with my fans disabled up to 80c, fucking GPU-Z popup window appeared but you can see the red lines, they don't throttle.

I do use a custom BIOS, and I do have prefer maximum performance in NVCP.
As you can see on the far right, I don't have K-Boost enabled and I don't have the issue. So if it does solve it, it's not the only solution.
It's been so long I'm afraid I can't remember what exactly solved the issue for myself.

Regardless, you can solve almost any issue by customizing and flashing a BIOS to your card but that isn't the easiest thing to do.
You can usually find some good custom BIOS's out there if that interests you.
    http://www.overclock.net/t/1558645/official-nvidia-gtx-980-ti-owners-club
There's some, you'll have to make sure they work with your card and do your research if you do this, you can brick your card if you don't know what you're doing.
I can't personally recommend those, but I use a custom Gigabyte 970 G1 BIOS from here.
    http://www.overclock.net/t/1544574/gigabyte-gtx-9xx-10xx-g1-gaming-h2o-air-bios-tweaking

I'm not an expert on all the voltage and power settings, I only further customized things that were obvious to me such as fan rpms and self explanatory settings.
So I don't know what exactly needs to be edited to alleviate throttling, I'm sure there's people on LTT (and OCN)  that know more about this than myself.

There may be other solutions, I'm just most certain a custom BIOS edited properly would solve it.
I solved it somehow, probably the custom BIOS I use, some setting(s) in it fixed it but I didn't do it, I just downloaded the thing and flashed it

Do you have GPU-Z open to see what happens before and after the crash?
It's unlikely overheating is the cause of the crashes.

Nice! Heard good things about the AKM AK4490 DAC used in the Bifrost, my HA-1 and Gustard X12 use the Sabre ESS9018 chip.....not sure what the hell chip is used in my Fostex HP-A4 though. How're you liking the HEX thus far? So loving my HEK, it's now my go to can for music, games and movies. The Bifrost is a dedicated DAC, so what are using as amp for now?

Not a member SBAF, though I do intend to join membership there when I feel like doing the SuperDupont mod which I'd actually heard of over at HF (if you're savvy enough to separate bullshit/hearsay/over-enthusiasm and just use your common sense, HF can be a place to get some useful info).

I mainly use my HE 560, but for rock and games I use my k612, the rest are for on the go use or something I just use once in a while, the money is not the worst part, the worst part is how much space they take up, my room is pretty small 8.4m2 so it is pretty cramped with a bed, table and all my headphones.

I currently have two X5550's, but I'm upgrading to two L5640's which have more cores, and a lower TDP meaning they'll be lighter on the power bill as well as easier to cool. They have a slightly lower clock speed but that doesn't bother me.
