I don't think the Q6600 was the bottleneck there at all.

WaterproofBeanie got a reaction from Mikensan in Tips for my new NAS
In my opinion if data integrity matters to you all your drives should be in mirrored pair vdevs. Easier to upgrade, easier to maintain, faster and faster to resilver with much less strain than RAIDZ.
I would go for 4 4tb drives in 2 mirrored vdevs, which are then combined in effectively a software RAID10.

WaterproofBeanie got a reaction from GreezyJeezy in how do i add a icon on the tab for my website
You have to convert the image to a .ico file. It is currently a PNG file, and you can convert it with free online tools. Also, you should link to the image url rather than just an imgur link, so http://i.imgur.com/Gu6vZrO.png rather than http://imgur.com/Gu6vZrO. This links to an actual image rather than another website.

WaterproofBeanie got a reaction from GeorgeKellow in R9 380 4GB Crossfire vs GTX 970 SLI
Well, SLI 970s will undoubtedly be faster, but on a 1080p monitor saving $350 will not noticeably affect performance here. If you are set on a dual card setup, then the Crossfire 380s will be more than fast enough, but a single GTX 970/R9390 will perform just as well on a 60hz monitor.
EDIT: But at that budget I recommend a single 980ti.

- .. The scart cable?
> Yes, the scart cable.
- Does your computer have a scart cable input?
> Well duh, all computers do!
- I have NEVER heard of any PC's with a scart input!
> *Shows me the power cord* Scart cable!
- No, that's the power cable, you use that to power up your PC. A scart cable is a video cable for old consoles, VHS and so on.
> Oh how wrong you are, google it and I'll prove you wrong.
- *Googles it*
> NO IT'S WRONG! SPELL IT WITH A 'K'!
- *Spells it "skart"* Well what do you have to say now?

WaterproofBeanie got a reaction from SnoopAkon in Which motherboard is better for gaming ASUS or GIGABYE?
There is little to no difference in gaming performance between those two motherboards - and many others that cost less than a third of the price.

WaterproofBeanie reacted to manikyath in ELI5: Why do we need servers?
for small buisinesses, the answer is actually very, very simple: data sharing, and redundancy.
in a lot of small buisinesses theres a windows server set up with a domain, and every workstation logs on trough the domain server, meaning the following:
- the workstations have their own windows installation, but beyond that dont contain much
- everyone can log into their account, with their files, on any desk.
- if a workstation is stolen, it contains no sensitive data
- the server containing the data can be locked up against theft, can be easily backed up to a fireproof storage solution, etc.
- people who work remote can log in to the server trough a VPN, and work as if at the office
- workstations can be cheaper because they dont *have* to be 100% reliable, if one cuts out they can just grab a spare off the shelf. (if a company has a workstation that HAS to be active in order for the company to function, thats usually the one that dies, the less of those around, the less of them that die. dang murphy.)
- administrative settings go trough the domain, meaning people cant fudge witht heir workstation *as* easily.
- probably some more stuff i forgot.
as for schools, mostly the same deal, but for them its more to avoid those little rebels from ruining their expensive stuff.
as for big corporations, take what i just said, and multiply by 100.

This is a conspiracy. NVidia is obviously part of ISIS, while AMD f*cks with Mark Zuckerburg, who has secretly an affair with Osama, who is actually not dead.
Let's boykott everything and fire our liberal guns in the air like true 'Muricans.

WaterproofBeanie got a reaction from Sunshine1868 in LTT Enterprise and Networking content
That's not the issue. We all agree that the server videos are entertaining and fun - its just the misinformation being spread through them. When server technicians like someone earlier in the thread watch these videos to see how their clients screwed up that is an issue. Making this information accessible is good, as long as it isn't blatantly wrong.

WaterproofBeanie got a reaction from UnlimitedTMD in Is it true that buying a 4GB GTX 960 is throwing money down the toilet?
Given that you can't buy a 4gb 390, I'd guess it's a typo - he probably meant a 380, which makes more sense than a 960 4gb in any case

WaterproofBeanie got a reaction from Bensemus in 980 vs 980ti
The Ti version has a different, faster GPU and 50% more VRAM. As such, a 'slower' 980ti (lower clocks) will still greatly outperform a GTX 980. Also, advertised clock speeds are unreliable, as the card usually runs much faster. Luke has a video on this.
