    Aaaaand some watercooling parts!

I hope you are not boored with these products pictures, but I am still messing around in the new photo studio I build, and what better way to practice than on parts!

    The main parts from EK

Still not sure if I will use the red pastel coolant. And I also still need to get some fans. I am quite sure I will go with the EK vardar fans again, as I am quite happy with the subtle design of those.

I will be going for the D5 xres combo again. One of my personal favorits. Lovely compact little thing with heaps of performance. The only thing that bugs me about this, is that you need to use the extender, as one of the ports are "sunk" into the top, and are not wide enough for a standard hardtube fitting

Dual titan x blocks. These will fit the 980 TI´s, but it irritates me a bit that it still says titan x on the blocks... Its the small things, but hey, I think I will survive.

The 3 blocks that will go into the system. I will not cool the RAM this time. It would look cool, but is not really needed, and as said before, parts will be flying in and out of this thing.

Big fan of the dedicated block for the X99 platform. Makes it just a tad cleaner.

Aaaaand backplates! Since the 980 TI´s does not come with any form of stock backplates (I really liked the backplate on the 980´s ) I will be putting two of these on.

More stuff is on the way! Just need to get clear of those pesky danish custom services -___-

Unfortunately there is no source. Some engineers from amd have mentioned stuff like that, and even tek syndicate has picked up on it, logan saying that's what hes been told while in conversations with some of the guys from AMD's engineering department.

Wish I could say, "lookie here, an awesome list of public sources openly claiming this!" But, in this case that doesn't exist. What does though, is the proof showing that for some reason, the 8350 performs really, really, really, really well on server grade calculation activities. But not so well on desktop applications.

Also the consensus that the 8000 series were really just server cpus isn't mine alone to hold. A couple other big tech reviewers hold the same views. I can't recall which of them besides tek syndicate, though... early morning here still.

I think he might be referring to the fact that 3 of the PCI-E graphics card slots are empty. It makes the build lack balance.

I've made a montage of the entire process. 11 months of working on-and-off compressed into 3.5 minutes.

And here's the most recent full video (the finale!)

Hello everyone! I've been a fan of Linus (et al) for a while now, but only recently made an account here so that I could post on the Ultrawide Festival thread. I honestly just suck at keeping up with forums/blogs/etc usually.

Anyway, after seeing a lot of other posts here I've realized that this would be a great place to post my own build. Essentially, for the last several months I have been designing and 3D-printing a tiny gaming PC that I can use at work and wherever else I need a bit more oomph.

Here's my contest entry for a quick summary:

This started as a budget project, using spare parts from past builds, a $20 H81 motherboard, and some really penny-pinching parts. That...didn't last. My main workstation is already more than this build could ever hope to be, but I've pushed it to the limit anyway (spending far more money than I actually have) and I have to say that this little bugger is SNAPPY. Here's the current breakdown:

    MB - ASUS Z97I-PLUS
    CPU - Intel Core i5-4690
GPU - MSI GTX 750 Ti 2GB (low profile version - there is not a 900-series version of this yet)
    RAM - 16GB DDR3 1600 Patriot Viper
    SSD - 256GB Samsung 850 Pro
    PSU - ThermalTake 550Watt
Screen - 1280x800 (16:10) Tontec 7 inch IPS Display (integrated with case design)
    OS - Windows 7 Pro x64

It boots up in well under ten seconds - it was literally 4 seconds on a fresh install which blew my mind compared to my X79 tower.

Ellie is still a work-in-process, but she's FINALLY getting close to completion. The videos below go fairly in-depth with the process of developing and refining it over the last 6 months in my spare time, as well as how much my hair has grown.

Looking back at parts 1 and 2, you can probably get away with just watching part 3 unless you're really interested in the entire process. I say that mostly because of how much I just cringed re-watching part 1 just now.

    Part 1:

    - Fan cover and screen framing printed, initial components selected
    Specs at this point:
    ASUS H81M-K Intel Celeron G1830 (bought to update BIOS) Reference GTX 560 Ti 1GB 4GB DDR3 1333 Kingston HyperX 250GB Crucial BX100 Part 2:

    - Nothing new printed, but massive update to specs and a temporary case
    Specs at this point:
    ASUS Z97I-PLUS Intel Core i5-4690 MSI GTX 750 Ti 2GB 8GB DDR3 1033 G.Skill Ripjaws 250GB Crucial BX100 Part 3:

    - Prototype version of the case finally half-printed and assembled, plus another spec upgrade
    Specs at this point:
    ASUS Z97I-PLUS Intel Core i5-4690 MSI GTX 750 Ti 2GB 16GB DDR3 1600 Patriot Viper 256GB Samsung 850 Pro Part 4

    - Several final parts are printed, the prototype is assembled and functioning, parts were Dremeled/sanded down to size, and I finally have a chance to catch my breath.

    Part 4 Bonus Episode

    Part 5
    - Everything but the lid is completed, assembled, and screwed together! At the end I also finally test it out in some games.
I have most of the parts printed that I need to assemble it in a more attractive final form, so look out for the finale in the next few weeks, as well!

    Part 6

    - She's done!

    Hey guys!

Here are the pics from the EB Games Expo! The build is about 90% finished here.

Just some minor things still need to be done and I will be changing some thing with the loop.

The build should arrive back on Monday! I'll also have some better pics up shortly from the EB Games Expo!

Thanks for checking it out! Hope you guys like how the build looks at this point

Now if only someone designs a mousepad with wireless charging capabilities, along with the mouse to get wirelessly charged. Perhaps a switch on the mousepad would trigger the charging, hence making sure that the batteries arent ruined.

    Just a thought.

This, the mac pro, some of the iPhone changes, and macbook non pro, and other various things has convinced me that apple is doomed. I have NO respect for their product design anymore. If they ruin the MBP I will be very mad

Nvidia just sucks at async compute, and Kepler and Maxwell always will, no matter the driver updates they will get. People still don't understand that the efficiency of these these two architectures (especially Maxwell) came at huge compromises.
AMD's GCN cards are going to wreck most NVidia stuff in DX12 that is out right now. Based on certain powerpoint presentations, we might see Pascal suck at async compute too, but of course, that is speculation.

We know most devs are going to focus a lot on async compute, solely for the sake of consoles, which are GCN based, so we will probably see this efficiency translate to AMD, whereas we might see NVidia specific code paths, where async compute is limited or completely off. Maybe even using ROV or other 12.1 stuff, that could help NVidia a little bit.

    Also this is hilarious:

That's the 970 right there. What a shit card, to require specific coding from devs, just because NVidia wanted to overcharge for defective chips (sure it's not a bug it's a feature, but what a shitty feature it is).

Nvidia knows how their GPUs work better and surely want to encourage them to code so they are not at such a disadvantage. They seem to be taking advantage of devs that might make this same assumptions to basically throw AMD under the bus and avoid devs coding for async compute giving their competitor an advantage.
