  1. Mods please delete this. I pressed quote button instead of edit for my previous post.
  2. This is a post for the LTTFSYW and this is Entry #1 on July 24th I am so tempted in buying this one and this is my first entry. https://lasvegas.craigslist.org/sop/5696441674.html $100 GTX 770 with 4GB VRAM (at least this one can access more ram than a 970 xD) Amazon Link: https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Superclocked-Dual-Link-Graphics-04G-P4-3774-KR/dp/B00E5AEIKE
  3. Yeah and I find it very misleading to inexperienced builders on a budget.
  4. It should be able to handle it. But I would avoid the GT 730, if you do a little research it still uses the GF108 which is a Fermi architecture card from 2010 and on the Low End
  5. I don't even know what brand or whatever it is. All I know that its old. I have yet to see the actual specs, maybe I will post with a follow up.
  6. I remember having a Radeon HD 4670 AGP lol
  7. In addition since it was found on the curbside what is the best course of action regarding the hard drives?
  8. Well I am helping with the build and I could keep the old hardware if I wanted. Maybe I should post a picture with new stuff too
  9. I have no idea yet! He just literally sent me those images, and I am itching on finding out!
  10. So my friend found this old case with some old parts inside it. I have no idea what it is, since I haven't got a chance to take a look yet in person. He said he would clean up the case and use it for a new build. Would he run into compatibility issues? like are the power and reset switches any different? Would a modern ATX Motherboard fit? The photos are attached.
  11. Well not all Universities can afford such systems. Especially in other countries.By the way, do you go to a private University or Public? Just letting you know mine is a public University with over 24,000 students
  12. I am surprised UNLV has a lot of IT investment and donors. We even have a SuperComputer Intel Cherry Creek for the Science Dept. http://www.reviewjournal.com/life/technology/unlv-celebrates-state-art-world-class-supercomputer @_@
  13. I was just very curious at the choice they made and I think it was really nice to be able to use those machines on a daily basis
  14. The University probably got a discounted deal with Dell.. However, to me it just dosent make sense, to put ALL of it like that high end. Maybe some departments would get more powerful equipment than lets say the library where people just browse the web and do homework? @Deletive Well they just increased my tuition fees.. im guessing part of it went to that project.
  15. So I attend University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Recently this semester they have upgraded ALL of their computers, and this includes hundreds of computers in the library, all the classrooms and computer labs, to a Dell All in One PC sporting an Intel Core i7 4790S My question is, why would the IT department of my University choose something that high end, while most people there won't use it for heavy workloads, however some will use it for content creation and or for Science and Engineering computations. Anyone with experience with large scale IT projects know the reasoning behind it?
