  1. Thanks a lot!! Appreciate it!
  2. I'm a bit confused on what the fourth line and the "i" part of the "for i in cmds:" section of this code does. Does it mean "every element in the list cmds" of which then is printed? Thanks in advance.
  3. Thank you so very much!! This is incredibly helpful!! However, I would like to know if there's a way to read from the database file just for the high score value as well. This is so that I'm able to show that I can also write into, as well as read the file as well so that I may display it on the user interface. This is what I have for the text file read and I'd like to replace this code with and SQL read statement. Again thank you so much with what you've shown! I'm definitely going to get higher marks cuz of your help!
  4. I'm trying to add an SQL statement for a high score instead of a regular text file for my school project using Python and Pygame. This is as my teacher has told me that I will get an overall higher score using an SQL statement rather than a text file. However, after hours of looking at tutorials and notes on SQL, I still don't know how to use it in my code and what parts of my code to replace or add onto. Should I make a whole new function or should I just I just replace certain parts of existing code I've created. I've already imported sqlite3 but that's pretty much it. Can someone please show me what I can possibly do to implement a high score system with SQL? I understand that using SQL is overkill for a single integer value, but like I said, it will get me a higher grade if I use it instead of a read and write process with a text file. Here are what I think are the relevant pieces of code that need to be changed: and here is the whole function for reference: I have also attached the actual code for the game I'm making so that you may edit it as you wish. Thank you so very much in advance if you show me. I will deeply appreciate it!!! HopBall.py settings.py sprites.py highscore.txt
  5. I'm not really sure what the values in the square brackets means in both of these short programs. Can someone please explain the purpose of them? In this one, what does the "[ i ]" do in "totalSum = totalSum + numbers[ i ]" In this second one, what does the [0] and [1:] do in "return numbers[0] + addNums(numbers[1:])" Please can you help me in the simplest terms possible? Thank you very much in advance!
  6. Does anyone know how to express -608 in normalised mantissa-exponent form? I also would like to see how it is done as I don't know how to get the answers. Thank you.
  7. Just wondering what the following lines mean: and Thank you in advance!
  8. Thanks a lot! You guys helped me understand it now!
  9. Doing some school work in Python. Just wondering what 'return Instruction' does in this subroutine. Why is it there? I see the return function occurs a lot throughout the program returning a variable of some kind. Thanks in advance!
  10. It's a stock Intel cooler... Is it worth upgrading although I can't overclock?
  11. So quite a while ago, I played Overwatch but my CPU fan wasn't running due to the fan being stuck and the CPU got very hot and shutdown the whole PC... It booted with no problem after it cooled however and ran fine... I recently ran a benchmark however and found that my i5 4590 performs slightly less than other i5 4590... Is the problem due to my CPU getting hot and shutting itself down and possibly damaging my CPU?
  12. My birthday is in January so I can just wait until then to get a DAC...
  13. Is the Schiit Magni 3 on its own good? I don't necessarily need a DAC.
  14. I'm looking for a headphone DAC/AMP I could get for Christmas for my Sennheiser HD650's... I'm hoping for it to be around the £140 range and obviously as good as possible for the price... I'm looking more into an AMP rather than a DAC but I would take a combo if it's good enough... Does anyone know some good ones?
  15. One of the first Xbox 360 games I got as a kid was the original 2008 Mirror's Edge and I was immensely excited to hear that there was going to be a new one. I only used to ever play the original Mirror's Edge and was very good at it. I raved about it the new one for months and months, talking non-stop about it. However, when the game came out, many of the reviews for the game weren't as high as I hoped them to be and was extremely disappointed by it so I ended up not getting the game right away and waited for the price to drop. However, even when it did, my hype for it died out due to the lacklustre reviews. Just recently, I managed to get the game for my PC for only £5, and to my surprise, the game lived up to the hype and extreme expectations I had for it when it was first announced. The music by Solar Fields, the visuals, the gameplay (Yes, even the combat), the story and the characters were all good to incredible! It still felt like the original without a lot of the issues of the first game. I'm very much disappointed in myself for listening to the critics who of which I realised weren't that great at the game, therefore, not having as much fun as I did. Of course reviews don't revolve around how 'good' someone is but I feel like many critics gave Mirror's Edge Catalyst an unfair review. I thought about whether I was biased or not or whether my nostalgia with the original was kicking in, and tried to study the game at a realistic and critical point of view, and even when I did, I found that I still think Mirror's Edge is a fantastic game that is fairly underrated. I've been listening to critics for both games and movies for so long of which, most of the time, works for me but I feel like I need to stop relying on what critics think and make my own decisions on whether I like a game and what level of quality I legitimately think it has. I'm not going to bother saying what I thought was good or bad about the game but I was just wondering for those who have played the game, what they think about it and whether they've had an experience like what I've had with Mirror's Edge Catalyst.
  16. So I'm looking into buying a projector for around £300-£600 and was deciding on either on the Epson EH-TW5350 or BenQ W2000 but can't decide on which one. Please can you recommend me on which one I should get? Also, if you have better options other than the two mentioned, I would love to know what other options I could have within my price range. Thanks!
  17. I don't know how to explain it but, when buying a replacement lamp for a projector, does it only renew the lamp (e.g: The Brightness) or does it hold where the resolution is held as well? I don't know whether it's a chip or whatever but I guess you know what I mean...
  18. Epson EH-TW6100 or EH-TW5350 I'm looking to buy a new projector but don't know which one of these are better... Price doesn't matter to me due to finding both at low prices. I realise the EH-TW6100 is from 2013 but it's still priced higher and, although I know that price and release dates aren't everything, I would still like to know which one is better for colour reproduction and whatever else is important. Thanks a lot...
  19. I'm still new to drawing on a tablet and only just starting practising drawing since January. I tried to draw D.va which is my 4th digital drawing using my tablet and was wondering what you guys think of it. It's not finished yet so there is a lot I will improve...
