Intel had pins on their CPUs too not so long ago, I think the mainly changed to putting pins on the mobo to decrease rma rates in their CPUs because of bent pins
, however mobo manufactures weren't too happy about that because now they have to worry about bent pins

Thermal sensors of my Bitfenix fan controller are 1: North bridge; 2: inside my GPU headsink. 3: on top of my HDD (that one doesn't have a fan plugged, so it pins the voltage @12V) 23 °C ambient!

don't mine on a nuc
the toll it takes on your hardware wont be worth anywhere near what you would make
however if you use a usb coin miner you would probably be ok but I would still be kinda careful.

Never Ask this question on any tech forum ever! There are an equal amount of fanboys who prefer one brand of cards to the other, and usually believing them may result in you making an incorrect purchase, which won't be good at all. What you need to do is choose a price bracket (I'd Reccommend anything around 250-300 or above usd), research every relevant card in that price bracket, and make a desicion that suits your needs.
