    Just give him my opinion:

Good luck getting a prebuilt that's actually good at that price point.

Well tell him he'll most likely get integrated or r7 240 at that price point lol

I kinda knew posting this would result in a bunch of people giving me ways to try and convince him, I don't need help convincing him I need help finding an actual pc.

go ask best buy. they will have choices for this price range.... but we need more information before we can answer that question. there is no such thing as a $500 "best" computer. different computers will have different purposes for that pricepoint.

by "best" i just mean most powerful, its for gaming (easy to run games like wow, league, csgo, civ5, etc).

  3. Hello LTT People,

I used to be pretty active on this forum but those days are behind me as are the days when I could throw together a great build at any price-point.

I'm building a PC for a friend and here are the parameters:

    - must be around $450

    - doesn't have to be a beast he doesn't play graphically demanding games (he plays wow, league, csgo, civ5, etc), I still don't wait it to be under-powered though (I would list a graphics card but I don't know any recent ones)

    - build should be reliable, clean looking

    - build should have an ssd

    - this is in USD btw

thanks in advance, I will update this when I realize what parameters I forgot

Thanks guys, ill probably go with @Starelementpokes build and use the processor and ram from @ShrDcs build cause I know he doesn't need 32 gigs of ram and an i7 is more for workstation applications, I know an i5 wouldn't bottleneck him at all.

  5. Hello LTT forum!

Its been a while since I was last on here and I've lost touch with the community a little but the time has come to build another PC!

This is for a friend of mine in college, this is what he needs:

    - Under $1,400

    - Includes decent monitor

    - Micro-ATX at most (college dorms are small)

    - needs ssd and at least 2TB of total storage

    - needs to look decent (side panel window, no crazy flashy lights)

The main purpose of this build is to be a gaming/work PC, don't try to stuff the craziest card possible into it but don't go super weak either. He said the hardest to run game he will be playing is probably the new doom, it does not have to run at max settings though.

Could someone just throw a build together in PCPP? I used to be really good at this but I'm out of touch with the times.

    Thanks in advance!

  6. haven't been on the forum in a long time but i really need a new router because my current one keeps glitching out.

I don't want to spend more than $300, it will be used for mostly common household stuff and minor pc gaming.

there is usually around 11 devices connected to it.

I just need a few solid suggestions, thanks in advance

  7. im looking for a cheap laptop to play source games on like dota 2, garrys mod, and team fortress 2. I know mobile Intel integrated graphics 3000 can run these with 45+ fps but the question is can the integrated hd graphics that come with the first gen mobile core i5's run these? If anyone has any experience with this please share your findings, i would like to play dota 2 at 720p at max settings with at least 45 fps (the occasional dip is ok).

  8. For about the past month i haven't been able to play any online games because they all have been hitching uncontrollably, at first i thought my pc was overheating but then i noticed i could still push my hardware in single player games without hitching. My network configuration hasn't changed recently so my guess is that the isp is the culprit. whenever i'm in a lobby with my friends my ping hovers between 400 and 600, the only online game i can play is civ because i can deal with hitching in that game but i cant play tf2, dota, gmod, left for dead, planetside, cs go, battlefield, or anything else that's not single player. has anyone had similar problems? how can i fix my ping?

check this out, im getting random spikes in my ping, this is where the hitches come from:

  9. Get one that lets you choose the frequency via a small LCD rather than one which has a switch with several options. That way you can make sure you can pick the most clear frequency to broadcast on.

I had a Belkin one for my iPod before which was very good!

could you link me to the one you owned?

  10. I want to play music from spotify on my phone in my car but the car is a 2006 mercury mountaineer and it has no aux input, I considered adding one myself but after some research i found the process to be a little expensive and difficult for my liking so i considered just getting a new radio but new radios are expensive too and i'm on a low budget, my current radio doesn't have a cassette player either so getting an adapter for that wont work either. Then i found out they make small fm radio transmitters with aux. inputs that fit into the cigarette lighter, i looked over a few of these and i can't tell which one to get, has anyone done this before? could you offer a suggestion? i don't want to spend more than $30 but i will if I really have to.
