  1. So far the only user I have added is root. Honestly might be better off just installing TKL straight to the 1tb drive and gifting the machine with root only. Then I could also return my $14 16gb mSata ssd. The friend this is going to won't know the difference. There is almost no documentation for this buggy mess of a distro, The biggest thing i've learned is to never take FreeNAS for granted.
  2. As the title states. I've been trying to setup Turnkey Linux as a basic NAS for a budget christmas gift. I bought a cheap Zotac ID84 on ebay with the intention of using FreeNAS (which i've been using for years on my personal NAS) but the NIC wasn't supported. I'm out of ideas, it's already christmas eve, and i'm already out $100 in trying. So here's what I have now: The root directory can be accessed by webDAV and SMB. Everything is installed and working, everything so far is plug and play. But for the life of me I cannot access the 1tb HDD I planned on using for the main pool. I have a logical volume set and the drive is recognized (No redundancy because only one sata port and my budget was $75).In my experience, I theoretically just need to create a mount point between the root and second drive but it's never that easy, is it. I go to make a directory but always get the same error. I'm clueless on where to go from here. If anyone knows how I can add other drives to the root directory please comment for my sanity, this is the worst experience i've had with Linux probably ever.
  3. I'm not to sure honestly, But better be safe than sorry and back it up first. Try running Kubuntu or KDE Neon on a flash drive and see if you can replicate the issue. If not I would try contacting Asus and filing a warranty ticket. Additionally, It probably won't hurt to update the bios once you're sure it's stable.
  4. What model laptop is the specifically? Can you try moving the ram to another slot or booting without storage?
  5. I use a cheap asus ultrabook as a test machine and it does this all the time. Try pressing and holding F2 or Delete when booting instead of spamming them.
  6. My first unit would die if I used it to tighten anything, wouldn't turn back on without plugging the micro USB back in every damn time. Fought with Amazon to return it and ultimately got a replacement which bound up and seized 10 minutes after unboxing. Fought with Amazon again and got a full refund. This is about on par with MiniDSO. most of what they make is cheap trash. Wowstick F1 as mentioned by @ColinLTT is light years ahead of the ES121. The motion controls are just a gimmick, I'll take a more ergonomically placed button any day.I'd recommend returning it as soon as you can before your replacement fails on you as well.
  7. Can't say I didn't expect to run into issues with a first run product, But I love spending almost $400 and waiting 9 months to be a beta tester. I've tweeted at them and reached out on indigogo (where i've had the most luck hearing back from them). Today has not been a good day.
  8. So after 9 months of waiting I finally got my THX Panda's in my hands, they sounded absolutely incredible... for the first few hours I owned them. Unfortunately after a few hours of use they refuse to power on or charge. I still get the charging LED, but that's about it. Plugging them into my PC via usb (type A to type C) They recognize as an audio device but are quiet and with loads of feedback I've tried a variety of different chargers and cables, but can't get get any other life. I've reached out to Drop.com for a potential RMA but haven't gotten a response. And of course because they're so new I can't find any threads relating to troubleshooting. Any tips?
  9. It would need to slowly go up. I'll figure something else out.
  10. There really is no turn-key solution to this huh.
  11. It absolutely needs to gradually raise in RPM over a set amount of time. again, this isn't going inside a PC case. I need this for controlled testing.
  12. It would need to be through USB. The fan is for a project I really can't talk about that has nothing to do with a PC.
  13. That gets me a PWM output, But will it supply enough voltage? Also, I put all my points in hardware, Coding and I never got along. I can generate a signal, but how do I control it?
  14. I really can't go into much detail here, but I have a very specific project i'm working on. I need a way to control a fan (most likely an older AMD Cooler Master stock fan) not by temp, but to ramp up linearly on a timer, And it needs to be controlled by software. I can't find an easy way to do this with a Raspberry Pi, and I can't find any fan controllers that would let me do this on Ebay/Amazon. Could anyone offer some guidance?
  15. It just came in the mail yesterday so I think I'm just going to return it. Wasn't too concerned with USB mics after i've had a CAD U37 for years. Guess I wasn't ready to upgrade after all.
  16. Hello lads, I recently picked up an Audia-Technica AT2020 USB+ on eBay and first impressions have been less then stellar. The mic sounds the way it should when I am literally a centimeter away but backup to about 3 inches and I'm barely audible. This happens in Windows 10 and Kubuntu, I don't have a Windows 7 ISO to test, It sounds the same playing back in windows/Linux and from the built in monitor itself (tested with AKG earbuds and Senheiser HD4.40's) The last thing I want to do is return it, but I'm genuinely at a loss. I've even tried plugging the mic directly into a phone charger and listening to the monitor that way. nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated! demo of what's happening: mictest.wav
  17. Considering I just upgraded to it from a 750ti last January, I think I'm going to keep it for a while 750ti aged like fine wine, I don't think I could ever part ways with mine.
  18. that's the problem now is it's almost impossible to work in, I've spent days trying to fit a Quadro 400 in as a display adapter and virtualizing Windows with the RX580, but for the life of me cannot get everything plugged in. I guess I'm just trying to justify dropping the $150 on something that doesn't exactly age like the rest of the machine. TL;DR: I have no room
  19. So this is an interesting question that I never thought I'd ask myself, About 5 years ago I was gifted an NZXT S340 Elite for my birthday. Beautiful case only shattered the window once really dressing up my turd of a Pentium 4 G2020/750ti build. But I've graduated, got an actual job, and proper ATX board with an RX580 Strix and enough storage to justify a separate Freenas server, Have I outgrown my case? Would the LianLi O11 dynamic be a reasonable upgrade from here? (I promise it looks better in person, S8 Camera is not doing any favors here. Also a slightly outdated pic, Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro and Zen 1 do not play nicely with each other. they constantly disconnect and freeze requiring a restart to fix)
  20. You can find USB microphones under $50 all day, I personally daily drive a CAD U37. It's a bit expensive on Amazon now, But goes on sale all the time. I picked mine up for $35, been rock solid for a few years now.
  21. Sounds to me like a board failure, I would suggest contacting Gigabyte about that since it's only a year old, Either that or trying a different board if you have a friend on Ryzen as well. (Thank you AMD for backwards compatibility!!)
  22. Honestly, Since I can still access Gravity, I think I'm just going to back it up and re-install. This poor pi routinely racks up over 100 days of uptime. Best use of a pi ever.
  23. Neat that i'm on a different screen, But still not helpful when I can't change the password. Since when did raspbian stop booting to a command line? I'm confident i've never changed this either, Still default pi & raspberry
  24. Before you go throwing money at the problem, Try using another mic in the same port first, soundcards in 2020 are a hard sell.
