So, I've been running my PC on a Windows Ultimate OEM license that I directly got from an internal retailer for 4 years now.
This weekend, I decided to finally upgrade my computer and also install Windows 10.
Now, since my old PC was a bit trashed and I wanted to start over anyways, I created a boot stick for Windows 10 Pro (Since Microsoft stated that Windows 7 Ultimate licenses could be convertet to Windows 10 Pro licenses) and only backupped the information I thought, I would need for activation later. That being my OEM Product ID and the actual Windows Key.
I installed windows 10 on my new Hardware (New Mainboard + CPU, new RAM, old Graphics Card and PSU) and it worked just fine. I skipped the key activation since I knew, that win10 does not directly take the old keys. So, the problem is, I have a fully set up Windows 10 now - that I'm pretty happy with already - and an old Windows 7 OEM Key that was registered for a different hardware.
The problem essentially is... how do I get the key converted for Windows 10? I have read through a lot of posts and articles on this in the past hour and I do not want to delete this new win10 installation, reinstall win7 and then upgrade again. There must be some way, right?
