Install dedicated mgpu into lenovo g50-70

    and if it isnt?
  2. Yo there LTT. I currently have a Lenovo g50-70 (i5 4th gen) with intel HD 4400 intergrated graphics. I was watching a tear down a while back and apparently my laptop has as mgpu slot. My dad bought a laptop yesterday which will function as a media server pc for the family, something dedicated to connect to the roku and backup our photos and movies. It also has an i5, but more importantly it has a dedicated gpu. I was wondering if I am able to take the gpu out of the laptop, and put it into mine. I do not know if the gpu is soldered into that pc, or if my personal laptop even has a slot readily accessible. But I am willing to give it a shot. Thanks, and lemme know.

    Suggestions for LGA1150 Xeon Build

z97 because I want to (dont ask why, but I just dont like not top of the line boards) Pascal will be quite expensive, but the 1070 may be a great deal. Hopefully its not 7.5 gigs PSU: alrighty do you suggest anything in particular? I want full mod and 80+ gold... Hey its aytex! Whats up?
  6. Let me know if there is anything I can improve on. This build will be used for gaming, school work, and video editing. Question about core unlocking

An article from 2010 answers your question: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/256683-29-does-stay-unlocked-changing-mobos TL;DR: no, the unlocking relies on the motherboard, so if you change the motherboard to your current one after it was unlocked then the cpu cores will relock.

    Cheap socket x79 mobo?

    Price to performance?

    Cheap socket x79 mobo?

Thats the v2, not the v1. Also, userbenchmark cannot be trusted...

    Cheap socket x79 mobo?

The xeons are very decent actually, beating lots of modern chips. The xeon e5 2670 is an 8 core that is a bit behind the 5960x, beats the 6600k (the cpu I was og going with), and is on ebay for >100 usd.

    Cheap socket x79 mobo?

No I have not, ill go check real quick. One thing tho is the atlanta usually has shitty craigslist options. EDIT: Best thing I can find: https://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/sop/5516470001.html Pretty good actually, 6 core with dual 680's, but not what im looking for.

    80% FPS Loss while Recording

Dual core with hyperthreading here. When I record I see a minimal loss in frames since I have a mobile i5, which has hyperthreading to emulate a quad core. While it aint no quad core, it certainly does better with rendering and recording. Bottom line: get atleast an i3, if not an unlocked i5 or i7.
  13. Yo there. I am interested in building a pc with a used xeon 26xx (socket 2011, not 2011-3 ) to save money and spend more on the other parts like a 1080. When I look online to buy one its like $200 new, and about $200 used! Where can I get them cheap (er) or is there another chipset to look at with both cheap mobos and xeons?
