Monetized, LTT Store ads, bad jokes - this is after 2 bad takes in a row broadcasting to the world what Linus truly thinks about the situation.

I feel like this is not good enough.

Hm, if that's not a rhetorical question -

For the Madison-related issue, it blew up after the video was recorded likely, and personally I believe this is a serious legal issue that should be kept strictly between LMG and Madison.

I find that there's still an air of "this is just the damn internet overblowing things up again, it's not even that big of a deal" from the video given that it still has jokes and reference to the LTT store, and a full referral link description section. You can argue that "well, there's still innocent employee that's waiting for the next paycheck!" - but I truly think if a company at this size can't afford to demonetize a video addressing a fallout is disappointing.

I would have preferred the video to not be monetised much like GN's video so neither of them benefit directly from the video - yes, I am aware that they still gain massive traffic and exposure. But it's a nice gesture.

For everything else, let the result speak for themselves for the videos in the coming month and years - I see what Linus truly thinks about the situation from the way he handled it now - but I love them enough that I would love to see they genuinely improve on both the process and mindset going forward.

"Is a little humor a bad thing?"

In bad taste, yes. I cannot believe that they (1) monitized the video, (2) shouted out Floatplane, (3) had an LTT store plug, and (4) joked about having a video sponsor. Then Linus has the absolute nerve to call it "a little humor". It's not funny. Grow the hell up.

This is what I took away as well, in addition to not redacting the cost like GN and Billet themselves did. I get the "community" aspect, but if Linus was real about no longer being emotional, he or they would have mentioned and apologized to GN directly as well. Clearly they're still mad about it, which is completely asinine.

Yeah. It felt like they needed to add some cringe jokes because they think the majority of their audience are literal kids who can't handle heavy topics. It felt a bit condescending at times.

LTTStore plug was absolutely abhorrent and shameless, regardless if it was meant to be a joke or not.

Luke is afraid of linus. He trys to balance any criticism he says on the wan show and is careful with his words. Look into his eyes his always thinking and weighing the pros and cons of speaking up on an issue he know is sensitive.

This is the problem with some leaders they dont like negative feedback. You can sort of tell linus is one. He takes things personally.
Linus would do well to listen to others including his own staff who made suggestions to handle things differently. to slow down on the video releases and they are unhappy with the quality of the work they produce.

He has some smart people there he should better utilize them to improve outcomes. Its his company but his employees are there to help him. Listen to them.

@LinusTech I've been watching forever. OG Floatplane sub when it was driven from the forum. I've managed multi-million dollar projects with many, many employees. I've never posted here prior. I can tell you, with absolutely certainty, that this is a crisis and that you are responding to it poorly. (with both the quoted post and all of the others prior)

Ideally, your crisis response would be:
Make an effort to understand the issue - both from the initial report and from the community resonance. Quickly acknowledge that you've seen the issue, understand how important that it is, and will be responding very soon. Take time to craft your message and select the broadest medium for response. Eliminate emotions. Get others to participate. Apologize. Take responsibility. Make it clear that your taking steps to swiftly improve. Detail these steps. Invest in ways to correct the situation and monitor their impact so that issues don't reoccur.
So far, there appears to be a limited understanding of the root of the issue, and denial about the breadth and depth of the impact. To be clear:
There is an issue with factual accuracy in LMG videos. There is a situational consistency issue with LMG videos. There is a conflict of interest issue with LMG videos. There is a clear issue with how you all impacted the manufacturer of an LMG video subject product. Beyond that, the response has been taking issue with the messenger (Steve at GN), general statements about how improvement is needed, attempted assertation that the impact to the video subject has been addressed, clearly emotional reasoning, promises of a future Labs solutions, and ignoring/rejecting the most common, community suggested path to correcting the situation (slowing down, taking time to get it right). I don't think that it's a stretch to stay many people would find these infuriating at worst and a nothing-burger at best.

I'm asking -- begging -- please stop, analyze, bring in others, and respond again -- correctly this time. Apologize. Take responsibility. Make it clear that your taking steps to swiftly improve. Do the damn thing and follow up on it.

Less Travis Kalanick. Less Deepwater Horizon.
More of what the best version of Linus would do.

Accurate, fair and informative video in a serious tone with no obnoxious like begging at the start. Great video!

The way I see it, the way for SteamOS or Linux gaming in general to really take off, is to start with "running games better than windows."

I would gladly switch to or dual boot a Linux if it meant my favorite games get an extra 5~10FPS,  even if it meant a lot of behind-the-scene tinkering and struggle.

As for the premade "Steam Machines".... they are just really overpriced prebuilts with SteamOS preinstalled. I find them pointless when they announced it, and I still do.

Akiyo got a reaction from drwiggles in Why attack Linus and LMG?
So one guy, after watching a gaming critic's push for more open disclosure and less shady deals, decide to spread it out, and ended up bring it up towards LTT. He managed it poorly, because most people didnt see him as "I just want to push proper disclosure, I have nothing against LMG".

Some LTT members, who have been a fan of the channel for a long time, and know that Linus will not to make paid/biased reveal that intentionally mislead the viewbase see this as an attack, a random guy questioning LMG's integrity that went as far to report it to Canadian government agency for advertisements, and wanted to defend Linus and LMG.

Is it fair to say that both party had good intention but somehow it devolved into a shit flinging fest and personal attacks?

Relax and chill. For the former guy, Linus mentions who provided what in his scripts in every videos - its just well written so you don't notice it unless you specifically look for it. Its impossible for them to just slap thousands of notice on who given what during the video editing process. Its NOT a game review, multiples product appear in a single video.

For OP, just slow down for a lil. Its a fine line between "voicing my opinion as a mature adult to defend what is correct" and "Rage fanboy whiteknighting while keyboard warrioring down a specific individual.". Labeling someone a hater that simple want to see honest business burn and personal attacks goes into the later category.
