  1. Yay! I LOVE competition. It usually can set prices down on older, but not yet obsolete products, and brings better technology and advances. Can't wait!
  2. ok, how do I delete. I JUST saw a post a couple posts down already made with tons of comments
  3. http://kotaku.com/gaming-company-changes-logo-to-tramp-stamp-fans-horr-1638359967 So Kotaku's Luke Plunkett reported the division focused on PC gaming peripherals over at Corsair have decided to generate a brand new logo to branch out from their traditional "Corsair" flag ship sails logo. http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--B1cdJ4fJ--/c_fit,fl_progressive,q_80,w_636/dsgqi9fppprauoohvvwu.jpg (hopefully the picture shows, otherwise you can follow the link to see the original post from Kotaku). There have been numerous PC peripheral and components companies that have branched out and come up with different logos to differentiate their main brand and their gaming brands; Logitech, ASUS, MSI, etc. I like how companies do this, as it often leads to more competition among manufacturers, and the actual product sets itself apart from the sometimes plain versions of the main brand's product (unless the "gaming" name only adds extra costs at for being branded differently). But the main issue people are seeing, is that they think the logo is just plain... ugly. It reminds people of "tramp stamps" and the demographic for their product is questionable. For me, I personally did like the traditional flag sails logo. It actually did a good job of representing the Corsair name, seeing as a corsair represents a pirate ship, or sea vessel. The logo is so specific with the brand, that to see it represent anything other than computer parts is just weird. My one concern is, I know Corsair most likely wants to have a separate logo for their Gaming brand, and there's even a petition for it to have Corsair change the logo: https://www.change.org/p/corsair-components-inc-keep-the-old-corsair-logo I know people don't like it, but my question is; what would you change it to? My opinion; I'm not particularly fond of it either. I had wish Corsair had invested a little more time in trying to create a logo that could easily catch the eye of consumers. Something more associated to the name "Corsair" rather than a tattoo looking logo.
  4. Nice break down. Not too worried about durability. If they're not on my head they're hanging on my ghetto crafted headphone holder. Good comparison though, thanks for sharing! I've never had a chance to try any AKG headphones, so I wouldn't know their particular sound signature.
  5. Hi all, I'm in the market for a new set of headphones. I mainly use them for gaming, and listening to music. I currently have a set of Sennheiser HD 280 Pros, but they squeeze my head so much I can't wear them for more than an hour before I start getting a headache. I've tried stretching them out by leaving them stressed overnights, but they keep the same pressure. I assume they're built that way so they help keep the seal to block out noise. I've read a couple good reviews of the AKG K 240, a semi-open backed set. I have never tried open/semi-open back headphones. Anyone own these that can give their own opinion on these? Thanks!
  6. Awesome. But how about the games that claim, "3GB VRAM recommended". I'm trying to think about future game releases. Also, I should toss in the R9 280X as a possible replacement of the 680. It has 3GB RAM, on a wider bus. I don't really want to get AMD, but am willing to give it another chance. I previously has an ASUS HD 6850 that worked well, only after having a ton of problems with the driver (wouldn't install correctly, failed to install, CCC would act funny, etc.)

  9. Hey LTT forum goers, Need some advice for my next GPU upgrade path. Hopefully this can help out some others that may be in the same boat. First off, thanks ahead for any advise, criticism, and teachings; it's all appreciated. As a gamer, I mostly play FPS and RPM games, some racing. First, question: is there any really good benefit(s) to go from a GTX 6XX to a GTX 7XX? If so, what are they? So right now I have a PNY GTX 680 2GB. I only got this at the beginning of last year, so it really hasn't been that long, and so far it doesn't fall behind in fps in games, until I start cranking up the AA, which I rarely do. I only game at 1080p, and don't use multi-monitor, though my monitor also runs at 144hz. But I do appreciate the ability to run my games on high texture settings, as well as some extra texture packs/mods. So my conflict is: would it be worth it to get a GTX 770 4GB? It has the 4GB I'd want for all my textures, but it's basically the same exact card as my 680. I wouldn't want to get a 680 4GB just because it's an older card; I'd rather get newer. Plus when I search for a 4GB 680, they tend to be MORE expensive than the 770 4GB, just because of rarity or some other reason. Let me know what you guys/gals think. Is a generation bump really worth it for the extra 2GB and added (some times menial) features.
  10. Hi all, So right now I'm in the process of trying to pick the next best case for my living room HTPC/big screen gaming PC. It has some very old components in it (I'll must up what I remember what's in it at the end of this post), but it still games better than consoles, which is what I mainly use it for: a console replacement for when I don't want to sit on my somewhat uncomfortable desk chair where my main PC is at in my bedroom. I use this PC for watching some videos, and gaming on the couch. I want to replace my current case which only has one 120mm fan intake, and 1 top 140mm exhaust. It also has a 120mm rear exhaust and 2x120mm side fans I have as intake, but the side is very choked as I have it sitting right up against the wall on that side. The case is a Rosewill Challenger. It was an awesome case (very first custom build I've ever made), but not only is it now very unattractive to me now, it's cooling is severely hindered. With warmer weather drawing near (and no A/C), I need a better air cooled case (at least 2x120mm front fans) that's not expensive, and will fit my current components. Here's some options I chose (please be aware, I don't want to spend more than $70USD - $80USD since this isn't trying to be a huge upgrade): Thermaltake Chaser A31 (I can find this for a little less than $70USD; Newegg has is for $69.99 w/ $10 MIR) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133212 Antec GX500 (cheapest, about $47 w/ $10 MIR right now, $59.99 orig.) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129191 Cooler Master HAF 912 (option of a 200mm front intake, and 200mm top exhaust, seems like it has potential to be the quietest of the 3 with that fan setup) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119233 If you guys have any other recommendations I will gladly consider them, and thank you very much ahead of time for your input!!! PC: ASUS M4A89TD PRO/USB3 AM3 AMD 890FX AMD Phenom II X6 1055T w/ Corsair H60 liquid cooler 8GB of some generic RAM from an older PC EVGA GTX 560 1GB <-- hehe =P Lite-On DVD drive WD Blue 320GB HDD Corsair HX750w PSU and of course the case I wanna replace: Rosewill Challenger
  11. please don't lose focus on tech. I started watching your channel about a year ago BECAUSE of the tech you covered, and build logs and how-to'. I knew how to dabble with building computers, but my computer building knowledge was reinforced by your early videos. I even bought the ASUS VG24-whatever, I forget the name, but the 144hz refresh rate monitor BECAUSE of your recommendation and review. so please, don't lose focus on tech coverage! thanks! sincerely, an avid follower of your YouTube channel =) edit: I did vote, just in case someone wanted to flame me for trolling. I chose to mix toys and games.
  12. Thanks everyone for your suggestions! So I've decided to hold off for now, maybe until next year's lineup, as long as they boost in performance similar to how this year's flagships did. Or once the aftermarket cooled 290s are released, and we can see some benchmarks, I may dive into those. I've read and saw benchmarks for the 290 vs 290X and I think the price to performance isn't all too great when getting the 290X, but I guess we'll see when vendors get their custom coolers installed =D
  13. I currently have a PNY GTX 680. I know the 280X (MSI revision specifically) is just a re-branded 7970 GHZ Ed. But I was looking at the specs and they're slightly better than the 680: PNY 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 vs MSI's 3GB 384-bit, as well as Cuda cores/SPUs, PNYs 1536 vs MSI's 2048. Now theoretically, the R9 should perform better, but that all depends on drivers and plain efficiency at running programs (mainly games in my case). Does anyone think this would be an upgrade of sorts, to go from the 680 to the 280X? Thinking of price to performance, gaming, and future benefits (Mantle, GCN).
  14. Thanks for all the help everyone! I decided to try a cheap external amp (fiio e6, I think is the brand). Next up, gonna try and find some entry level audiophile headphones for hopefully under $150.00USD. so far I've found the amp to aid in increased bass response for my cheapo Philips headphones.
