Hi everybody,
as far as i know, a Raid 0 setup of 3 ssd's should be faster than a single one?
so 3 days ago i had the opportunity to get 3 Kingston 60GB V300 ssd's for $30,06 each, so yea i bought them (new ofc)
I tried to run them of my motherboard (Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3) sata controller in raid mode.
my Windows 8.1 is installed on a Samsung 840 EVO 256GB
Problem 1: in Raid mode windows does not boot
Fix: i put the sata controller back to ahci and use software raid for the 3 new ssd's, now windows boots just fine
Problem 2: Crystal diskmark results from the software raid:
* MB/s = 1,000,000 bytes/s [sATA/600 = 600,000,000 bytes/s]
* KB = 1000 bytes, KiB = 1024 bytes
Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 335.449 MB/s
Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 159.120 MB/s
Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 28.144 MB/s [ 6871.1 IOPS]
Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 143.164 MB/s [ 34952.1 IOPS]
Sequential Read (T= 1) : 143.012 MB/s
Sequential Write (T= 1) : 145.466 MB/s
Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 16.353 MB/s [ 3992.4 IOPS]
Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 89.696 MB/s [ 21898.4 IOPS]

OS : Windows 8.1 Pro [6.3 Build 9600] (x64)
and the results from my single samsung ssd:
* MB/s = 1,000,000 bytes/s [sATA/600 = 600,000,000 bytes/s]
* KB = 1000 bytes, KiB = 1024 bytes

Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 411.237 MB/s

Sequential Read (T= 1) : 445.389 MB/s
Sequential Write (T= 1) : 371.192 MB/s
Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 35.443 MB/s [ 8653.1 IOPS]
Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 95.232 MB/s [ 23250.0 IOPS]

OS : Windows 8.1 Pro [6.3 Build 9600] (x64)
the results look a bit funny if u ask me?
any ideas on how to crank the speeds of the raid setup up?
thanks, -Rob
