  1. Well, after all this, I am going to leave them be. However, am curious as to why BIOS RAIDs are not recommended?
  2. I mean I have the hardware, but you said it has issues, so why would I want to try it without first exploring that?
  3. I appreciate the help. Can you direct me to some good resources to read up on this? Somewhere I can read about the issues you mention for example?
  4. So basically use one of these software to configure a drive to act as a cache to the RAID array? That's it? Can you recommend a good software of these two?
  5. So in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkfbg-sHwDo at 8:50 Linus talks about using the 2tb M.2 as a cache for his 16tb RAID 1 hard drives. I understand setting up hard drives as RAID 1 but I didn't really understand what he meant by using the M.2 as cache. I tried looking it up but only found info on Intel Optane cache but that's being terminated with no more support, so can someone please explain to me what he meant and how it's done? Or forward me to an article or a guide, that would be much appreciated. Thank you, and I apologize if this is not the right section to ask. Cheers,
  6. Hello guys. I recently built my own PC (almost a month old now), and this has been happening somewhat frequently (but not really that much). Sometimes, I am doing literally nothing, I have Skype and Firefox opened, and I click on something or do a move, and all my tabs go "not responding". I can switch between tabs but when I move my mouse to that tab it turns into this blue loading wheel (Windows 10) and I can't click on anything. It lasts from 10 to 20 seconds each time, then everything goes back to normal. This also happens when I play a game, all tabs also freeze and the game stops, lasts for 10-20 seconds then resumes. Specs: Core i5-6600 3.3 GHz Gigabyte Gaming G1 1070 OC mode. Zotac ZTSSD-A5P-240G-PE 240 GB SSD WD Blue 1 TB HDD. Gigabyte Z170-Gaming K3 motherboard. G-skill Ripjaws V 16 GB DDR4 (forgot what speed, but it's not XMP or OC) Powersupply wattage is 650W. Any ideas what might be causing this? If you need more info I'll happily provide.
  7. Alright, thanks for your reply. I won't do it. It's just that I have this freaking fan that's going nuts, all other fans are at 900 RPM but this one jumps at 2000. I have no clue why. I was trying to update the BIOS since I didn't see any place where I can change fan speeds, any help in that regard? Again, thanks for the info
  8. So I just completed building my rig, I updated everything and then went for the BIOS to do some stuff then I noticed the BIOS is crappy and figured that I forgot to update it. I went to the manufacturer's site and downloaded the latest BIOS. Here comes the problem, the download included a Windows Batch file, a .F3h file and a .exe file. They are in the attatched screen. When I run the .F3h, it can't run it and I need to pick a software to run it, when I run the batch file I get an error (in another screenshot) and if I run the .exe it gives me an error that my computer can't run it (another screen). The blue error is for the .exe and the white one is for the batch. I tried looking for a x64 version on the site, didn't find any. Mobo: Gigabyte Z170-Gaming-K3. EDIT: I am using Win 10 64-bit
