  1. Yeah, 30hz is fine, and the tv is capable of it.
  2. Yeah, that's what I'm using, but any color format above ycbcr420 12bpc results in flickering at 60hz. According to the hdmi2.0 chart 4:2:2 12bpc or rgb/4:4:4 8 bit should be possible though. https://www.hdmi.org/manufacturer/hdmi_2_0/hdmi_2_0_faq.aspx
  3. Hello, I'm trying to output 4k 60hz ycbcr444 8bpc from a gtx980 to a LG OLED55E7P with this hdmi cable. Even ycbcr422 8bpc doesn't work at 60hz and there should be enough bandwidth for that from my understanding.Currently, I'm stuck running 4k 30hz rgb 12bpc, and any suggestion would be appreciated. Is my cable not good enough since it's too long or faulty?
  4. On the go I usually use klipsch s4, but I also have a pair of 64 A12 that's rarely taken outside.
  5. Jotunheim seems a bit overkill for the pm3, I would just get the ciem tbh. Wait for black friday, 64 audio usually have a 20% sale every year.
  6. Studio Monitor (1 month) -Kef x300a These are great all-in-one setup, but a bit bass-lite and can't upgrade the amp/dac. Headphones -fostex th900 (2 years) Haven't use these in a while after getting the speakers since I don't really need the isolation any more. Still great, but hard to recommend when there's thx00. -64 A12 ciem (1 year) Haven't use these in a long time as I just don't find it very comfortable compare to headphones/speakers and I rarely need the portability, but it still manages to surprise me of how good it is when I do use them.
  7. http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad-lust-envys-headphone-gaming-guide-3-18-2016-mrspeakers-ether-c-1-1-added I'm assuming that's what you're talking about? Like everything on headfi, take it with a grain of salt not gospel. The "competitive" rating is comparing headphones soundstage with VSS, something that is just impossible from my experience and is more dependent on the software used.
  8. How does bass affects soundstage? That doesn't make sense in the first place. Fischer is also a mediocre brand that focuses more on asthetics, many of their headphones are just mods with some wood and pattern thrown it. While dt770 soundstage is honestly just average, I think you're over underestimating it for gaming and it's on par with the clouds. Op also have other criterias like comfort with glasses and non-pleather pads, not everyone is looking to be some wannabe pro gamer that needs maximum soundstage that honestly matters so little unless he wants to go for fully open pair.
  9. Buying headphones worth more than the whole pc is worth it.
  10. Pretty good, there are arguably better in the price range (thx00/he400i) but you're looking for something portable and closed.
  11. Check out oppo pm3, it has somewhat neutral signature, portable, and very well-built.
  12. Why hd700 when hd600/650 are better and cheaper? Don't recommend it just because it's a bigger number...
  13. What's the open box price for them? I'd just pick between the elear, hex, or ether. El-8 is not even the same league as the rest, and lcd2 is destroyed by the elear with better build and comfort and overall sound quality (except for the slight dip in upper mid).
  14. Mdr-1a are quite v-shaped and bass heavy and the msr7 is pretty much what you're looking for with forward mids and trebles. Any reason you're fixated on these two headphones? I'd personally go for the oppo pm3 as previously suggested as I think it's better overall.

    Iem setup

Don't really need o2+odac for iem, not to mention it isnt very portable. I have a pair of 64 A12 that I use straight from my oneplus 3 phone and it works well enough, just spend all on the iem imo.
  16. Both are equally bad, get the hyperx cloud.
  17. Your current setup is pretty decent and there's nothing to recommend that isn't a huge downgrade. Personally I'd just grab a clip-on mic and use it with the hd600 as most wireless headsets including the 840 are pretty bad regardless of price. If you really hate cables then just get something with less frills, there are plenty in 100-ish range that are equally mediocre and saved 200 bucks not getting the 800/840.
  18. Just throwing in the rha ma750 for consideration, imo these are better than se215 in every way minus the detachable cable. Can't say much about ie60 but I did tried the ie80 and thought it sounded flat and boring, it have pretty good mid and soundstage, but lacks treble and slightly boomy bass.

    Fostex TH-X00

Definitely worth going for it, assuming it's in great condition. At worst, if you end up not liking it can sell for pretty much the same price you paid for.
  20. Can get Micca PB42X or MB42X + SMSL SA-60, but that's slightly above $100 without a dac already. For a dac to be a worthwhile upgrade from mobo it would have to be at least the modi which is another hundred. Best bet is look into buying used locally.

    Kef x300a impression

Yup, got the subpac for gaming/movie but it works pretty well for music too.
  22. It's open so can leak quite a bit of sound, wouldn't recommend it for portable use.
  23. So I just got the speakers last Friday and the isoacoustic stands came today so I want to share some quick impressions. Pro: -First off, these things are incredibly well-built and amazing even at low volume and near field listening. Quite compact and uniQ driver is sleek and shexy. -I've been mainly a headphones guy, so I don't know what to look for when judging speakers, but so far the mid and treble are top notch. Especially now that the drivers are at ear-level. Easily matching my th900 and 64 a12 in clarity and detail at moderate volume, and waaaaaay better if I can crank them up but I don't want people knocking on my door. -All in one device, twin AB amp with dac built in. Perfect for desktop setup without all the clusters. Con: -There's no way to connect anything unlike the vanatoo t1 that is also powered (no dac though) and have tons of connections. I don't know why kef made it such a closed system when people buying speakers at this price bracket are usually enthusiasts that would love to plug in their own dac or a sub. Basically there's only usb for your pc, and a 3.5mm jack to plug in your phone or whatever device. There is no way to bypassed the dac, I checked. -The bass on these are fairly weak; the stands actually help give it more impact and less muddy when it was directly on the table. I don't know if I could have achieved the same thing using yoga blocks or books I have lying around, but these stands do work! Also, using these with the subpac s2 is a great solution for the lack of bass without the need to get a separate sub and disturbing the neighbors. Minor stuff: -Would like a volume knob on the front, but style over function I guess. -The manual says it have standby mode, but I can't get it to work and is always on. Tried messing with mobo settings turning off usb charging and erp5 enabled, still not solved. I don't think leaving it on all the time is damaging so not a big deal, but it would be nice. -The heatsink in the back gets warm even when not in use and pc turned off, again should be fine. Quick impression of the stands, the price is pretty steep ($100-ish) for what's essentially 4 piece of plastic and 16 metal rods with some dampeners, but it looks clean and adjustable so whatever. If these were full aluminum the price tag would be justified but can't recommend it unless it was half the price. Overall, I would recommend the x300a if you're interested in speakers without all the fuss of picking an amp/dac to go along with your passive bookshelves. While it would be nice to be able to upgrade the dac or add a sub, I don't really feel the needs to as these are excellent as is. If next time I feel the itch to upgrade I would ditch these or use it in the living room/kitchen and get the ls50 anyway, so ymmv. I got it for $500 refurbed from accessories4less, it looks like-new and I'd recommend buying from them. If it weren't for the discount I would have went with the vanatoo t1 instead, but either way very happy with these!
  24. That's only if you decided you don't want the item any more. If it's the mistake of the seller (ie. sent the wrong item) you can dispute with ebay/paypal and make the seller pay return shipping and waive restocking fee or else you can keep the item and get a refund. But yes, the shp9500s is a revision and definitely not fake. I've seen plenty of people on /r/headphones and headfi getting the new version ordering from newegg as well so rest assured.
