FireCatch13's Achievements

  1. As an update, I'm running CAD on two monitors through a Quadro k2200 and a third monitor off a 960 at the same time. All monitors are turned on and connected at the same time, and everything runs great.
  2. I am currently running with a gtx 580. It's an awesome card for its time, but lacks the vram to compete with modern titles. I would love the versatility and clean look of the new Polaris card in my rig.
  3. Since I have built my computer, I have been coming up with two error codes on boot, B4 and A2. I had just ignored them because links on the internet just suggested usb error, I can live with that. But when I bought a new logitech mouse set that uses the unifying receiver and plugged it in, the keyboard does not work when the dongle is plugged into the rear I/O port (USB 3), however works perfectly fine in the front USB 3 port. Upon further research I decided to update the bios because others had said that had solved their problem, however now I still get the B4 and the A2 error along with a new 9c error code. How can I fix this? Is there something wrong with what I have plugged in or even my actual motherboard? (I have an MSI x99s SLI Krait Edition running an Intel i7 5820k, and currently have only a printer connected to one of the back USB 3 ports, and the unifying receiver in the front port.)
  4. I was thinking about the amd cards, but I am going to be running both cards at the same time, so i am worried about driver conflicts.
  5. So in my rig I have an Nvidia GTX 960 SSC 4GB and am going to be using it for minimal gaming and large autocad models. However I need to get another card anyway for the amount of monitors I am going to be running, and so I am debating getting a quadro card dedicated for my workstation monitors. For some reason, the quadro cards out perform the gtx cards in every autocad benchmark that I have seen, but they are way more expensive and I don't have $1000 to spend on another card. I have already run autocad and it runs good so far, but I am wondering if a quadro k2200 could do it better, even though it is a lower end quadro card. In terms of the specs, the memory bandwidth on the gtx 960 is 40 GB/s greater, and the base clock for the gtx 960 is also 200mhz faster, but they both have 4GB vram. Would the quadro k2200 render autocad better? Is it worth paying another $400 on a low end quadro, or should I just buy another gtx 960 so that I could sli them in the future?
  6. Well it turns out that I can just use the OEM disc to get into the Toshiba restore program that defaults everything to the factory setting. I did that and then just re-updated to 10 and now everything works .
  7. So I tried to update to windows 10 from windows 7, but along the way something went wrong. Now all i get is a black screen with a cursor, and nothing on the web has helped me. But when I plug my spare windows 7 OEM disc, it doesn't give me an option to install windows, just to run windows 7. So now I suspect that my computer had never gotten to windows 10 in the first place. I don't have any important files so im ok with deleting all of my files and starting over, I just need something to work. So can I use the product key with the oem disc that I have (I know that they are the same version of windows)? Is there any other way to start over?
  8. We just upgraded to windows 10 today from windows 7. We still have a windows 7 boot disc with the OEM product key. I need a windows 7 key for my new rig, so can i use the old key on the other computer now that the first one has been upgraded to windows 10? Does the upgrade to windows 10 allow the windows 7 product key to be used again on a different machine?
  9. The 4790k gives slightly better gaming performance than the 5820k, but at the same time, you get less pcie lanes and you are stuck with ddr3, so if you were going to buy a 4790k instead of a 5820k, you would have to redo your entire build. If you are willing to spend the money on a more expensive ddr4 rig, everything seems pretty good. But given that you are only going to run 1 video card, maybe two, you don't need all the extra pcie lanes that the 5930k comes with, especially since you are not running any m.2 or other pcie cards. The ram you got seems just fine, and the psu (in my opinion) is perfect, allowing for performance degredation, and SLI in the future. When buying motherboards, just look for the features that will benefit what you are wanting to do, in terms of gaming, regular use, or SLIing cards. If you dont have a specific purpose, just buy the cheapest one with the best reviews.
  10. 8gb is good for most games, but like others were saying, don't use all your DIMM slots, because some games need 16gb to run smoothly. For instance Star Citizen tops out my 8GB of ram, but it all depends on how much you wanna spend and what games (and at what settings) you are wanting to play.
  11. It doesn't look like it will fit unless you want to do some modding on the HDD cages, but putting the radiator there would have a serious impact on airflow given that those two are the main intakes. I would just mount the fans ontop of the case and the radiator right below them, that's what I have in my gaming rig and it works fine (if you get fans that match the color of your case it looks really cool). Or buy a single (thicker) rad and mount it right next to the back i/o port.
  12. Ya, it only showed the JPWR 1 and 2 connectors, but nothing about the third one. However, it did show that you can either connect a 4 pin or an 8 pin in the JPWR 2 (8 pin) slot.
  13. 8 fans total for air flow is more than enough as long as you don't have anything blocking them, especially considering that the cpu and gpu are going to be water cooled. Most of the heat is going to be generated from the CPU, GPU, RAM, and PSU, but because of the water cooling on the processors and the included fan on the PSU, you shouldn't have to worry at all. As for the position on the PSU fan, I'm not sure what you mean by "both intake and exhaust," but the holes back of the psu usually goes out of the case (as exhaust) and the fan pulls the air through the actual unit. In terms of the metal tray, yes you would usually want to put that in, even with the motherboard standoffs. I hope this helps.
