  1. Will there really be a huge difference between the 1070 and 1080 or 1080ti? I know that when it comes to performance per dollar the higher you go in models the lower the returns. I picked the 1070 because there is a pretty big step between the 1070 and 1060 but is that step as noticeable between the 1070 and 1080s?
  2. Hey guys, This is my third build and I was asked by a friend of mine to build him a workstation that he would use for CAD and rendering 3D objects. He wanted a mATX case so it'd be slightly more portable. What do you guys think? Any suggestions? Workstation PC
  3. There weren't too many that fit my needs. After sorting through PCpartpicker I ended up with 2 or 3 viable options while on the Intel side my viable options were around 10 or 12.
  4. I was thinking about going with one of the new Ryzen processors because as you said it does fit my needs but I wanted to go with Intel as there is a lot more support in terms of hardware. I am trying to build a mATX and there are very few options for the Ryzen AM4 chipset.
  5. I am in the process of building a computer that is going to have heavy CAD loads. I really like the 6850k becuase of the amount of threads, cores, and the 15 MB of cache. Is there a 7th generation equivalent? I was also thinking about the new i7-8700k that is supposed to be released soon but I have found no info as to the actual release date of the new 8th gen CPU. Thanks for all the help!
  6. Hey guys, I was recently asked by a friend to build them a new computer. This is a huge hobby of mine so I am very excited to have the opportunity to build a new PC. My friend told me he wanted a workstation for frequent CAD use and rendering. I have built 3 computers in the past but all towards a focus on gaming. Knowing that workstations usually require a bit more CPU muscle and about the same(or less) in GPU muscle I am trying to divert the budget (1800 USD) towards a great CPU. I wanted to pick a processor with higher multi-core speed so I am thinking about going with Ryzen 7 1700x over an Intel 7700k. The only reason I am a bit hesitant about this decision is because of support... I rather have an intel processor with that has better support and usually better hardware compatibility but at the same time, I know that a workstation would benefit from a 1700x more. Not only that, I am just more familiar with intel processors. I have looked into some Xenon processors but the market is just too saturated with options and nitty gritty details that are beyond my scope. Any recommendations for an Intel processor that would be just as adequate as a Ryzen 1700x? (below 500 USD) Thanks for all the help! ps. I am not done with the build yet but this is what I have so far.... https://pcpartpicker.com/user/DeathToaster45/saved/#view=kKpjXL
  7. I'd like to win the Excalibur v2 keyboard because I have a cheap outdated Microsoft keyboard and as a college-paying student I have been too cheap to invest into a new keyboard.
  8. No specific reason, just because I want my rig to be slightly better and want to make sure it never runs into any problem.
  9. I currently have 16gb of RAM in my rig and was wanting to upgrade to 32gb. I have 2 Corsair Vengeance 16gb(8x2) memory that runs at 1600MHz. If the second pair I got was Corsair Vengeance Pro, would it be an issue that its speed is 2400MHz? Thanks
  10. So would you guys recommend just getting the Gigabyte 970 ITX or a Zotax/EVGA/MSI? I want the best performance out of this second card, but it has to be less than 11 inches. Preferably around 10.
  11. So I know I want to build a gaming computer in a small case. I wanting to use two Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 ITX, an Intel i7 4790k, but apart from that I'm not very confident in building a small computer. I'm very concerned about cooling. Mind to share a similar build you've made? Thanks in advance.
  12. So is there any real difference inbetween the two? In performance? There has to be right?
  13. Exactly what it is. Just by a few inches
  14. This is exactly what I have, but I'm not sure how the performance or compatibility of the second link I post Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming GDDR5 Pcie Video Graphics Card, 4GB https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NH5T1MS/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_fe4VvbT7V0VTJ Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 Mini ITX Overclocked 4GB GDDR5 PCiE Video Card GV-N970IXOC-4GD https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OQUMGM0/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_xf4VvbVAAP5YW
  15. I am wanting to do SLI with my Gigabyte GTX 970, but my only problem is that I can put the exact same card in because it doesn't fit in my case. How can I make sure another 970 would be compatible? And what would you recommend? Thanks Here's my build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/sWtvGX
