  1. I had activating issues too, but the keep trying tip helped (i don't think you have to click like mad, just keep trying, maybe the issue is now gone i don't know) I used my USB Stick to upgrade (created with media creation tool), and runned the setup.exe while running win7 (on that way i only have to download it twice for my seven pc's (home and pro))(i did not reserve anywhere)(and i have boot medium for clean install as well!). What negatively suprised me...two control panels, why MS? What positively suprised me: updates can also with the home edition be shared in the local network. Only thing that don't work is logitech gaming software 5.10 for my driving force gt...but I hope logitech will fix the setup of that, it is just the OS check that fails. Unfortunately, the current version of logitech gaming software (which works on win10) does not include the wheel drivers...
  2. What is important is that Windows has two installers on their installation disks: a legacy (for older boards) and an EFI. If you mobo is capable for EFI (and maybe fastboot) you should take that option because your OS will start faster. You can chose between the two by choosing the right one in the bootmenu (or setting the boot prioritys right). Another effect of EFI install is that most mobo manufacturers put their logo above the Windows loader (see image) instead of the Windows logo (for Win 8 this is the case, maybe MS change this for 10 i don't know). But this is more gimmick then something else. here interesting video:
  3. yes no probs. But why two titans? Go for 980 ti.
  4. i know someone who did the thermal paste there were the pins are instead of between cooler and cpu...
  5. i should prefer a case were the power supply is at the bottem, is better for airflow.
  6. This will be my next GPU I think. (I want one with HEVC (4k live TV decoding) so AMD/750 Ti is no option). I'm not a hard core gamer, have full HD screen. (will upgrade to 4k when more 4k tv channels come avalaible here in Europe)(games: Some Fifa 12, F1 2010, Need For Speed) I will wait for some benchmarks off course and then decide if this or the 960 is the better choice. 970 is to expensive for what i need the card. Gaming i will not do on 4k also when i will have the 4k display (if possible of course i will but for the most new console games it will be impossible with that card I think)
  7. the ports are at the back so that does not matter. (each mainboard include a backplate that you put at the back of your the case (important is just the form factor, you need an ATX case because the mobo is ATX). That backplate is made for you mobo so the ports at the back will fit.) What matters are the internal headers of the motherboard: if the case has a usb 3.0 at the front you need a header to plug in the USB 3.0 cable. I will look if you board have this. The Board has a USB 3.0 header -> so everything OK. backplate example: that comes in the box of the mobo. You can then put it at the back of the case, and your mobo will then fit.
  8. Have a look at the corsair 200r case And a 120 GB SSD would cost the same as that hard drive. Off course if you need the 1TB space and you have not 60 euros left -> go for the hard drive (and maybe update later, but an SSD makes nearly each PC quick) And if you want chaeper PC -> maybe look for a cheaper shop in e.g. Germany (e.g. mindfactory)(20€ shipping -> but compnents are lot cheaper) And if you are student and need a Windows -> Windows have a 60€ student offer on their site (normally 90€)(the pro cost even more and the offer is for a pro version)
  9. But thats for an older GPU. The 980 Ti is newer and lot stronger -> so it maybe needs the bandwith more for gettings the best out of it. (But as I said im not sure) So the test should be done for an 970/980/980 Ti to say something more about the current GPUs But Gaming will still be more then OK with PCIe 2.0 and if you say maybe in one year 'I upgrade my CPU and mobo', then you can still use that 980 Ti.
  10. just wait until you have the money for the whole PC and then buy everything. And with an SSD this PC would be nicer
  11. i don't know, maybe someone has experiences with that. I haven't so i can't say how it affects the performance/compatibility
  12. what is not ideal -> motherboard/ chipset only supports PCIe 2.0
  13. wait for skylake otherwise I woud take the 4790k. (for myself, maybe for you not the right choise) So please tell ous what that pc is for then it is eaysier to give an answer
