  1. The university doesn't actually own the property, it's owned privately, just catering to students. I have looked at the tenancy agreement and there is nothing about internet other than the fact that it is provided with no limit on UL/DL. It's just trying to get my head around how it works exactly... Will my router just see the connection coming in from the building as if it's my ISP, if that makes sense, or is having my router set up as DHCP going to conflict with the DHCP of the host network there...
  2. Hello everybody, So I'm headed to uni this fall. The accomodation I am moving into has wired ethernet to the room. I already have a router along with a NAS, network printer and I'll be taking an Xbox, Switch, Laptop, Desktop, a smattering of tablets, my phone and probably a couple of other things too... Now, I doubt it's as simple as plugging an ethernet cord from the wall into the internet port on my router, and then setting it up as a DHCP for everything I connect to it? Basically, I just want to create my own little network in my room that would extend to the communal areas for things like my laptop and phone, so I don't have to use the WiFi provided by the property, then I can trust my connection more both in terms of security and reliability. Basically looking for any advice and tips on how to set this up so all my devices can talk to each other but also be isolated from the rest of the network. I'm hoping it should be possible without having to get IT to change anything on their side... What do you guys think?
  3. Hey guys. I was just wondering if there was a way to merge all of my media libraries into one app/program. I have many DVD's and Blu-Rays Backed up on NAS, loads of purchases across YouTube, Microsoft Film & TV, Blinkbox and a couple of others. Plus I occasionally subscribe to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video etc. Is there any kind of program or app that will combine all of these libraries into one so I don't have to load up each one because I can never remember exactly where they are. It looked like Xbox One's OneGuide was kind of going to go this route but they seem to be taking more and more out of it. I've looked at Kodi but that doesn't seem to do it, or I can't figure it out. Anyway, If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be cool! Thank you.
  4. So, I have an Acer Predator system. i5 4590, 12GB, GTX 980, 250GB SSD, 1TB SSHD. All is good with it until I go to play with the Vive and steering wheel. I have to unplug everything USB except the Keyboard and Mouse otherwise I get a USB bandwidth exceeded error. I Have pugged in: Avermedia U3 (USB 3.0) Roccat Ryos MK FX (2x USB 2.0) Roccat Kone XTD (USB 2.0) Roccat Kave 5.1 digital (USB 2.0) Xbox Wireless Controller Adapter (USB 2.0) HTC Vive (USB 3.0) Thrustmaster TX (USB 2.0) Thrustmaster TH8A (USB 2.0) So basically it's just the headset and the Avermedia U3 that I have to unplug in order to play Vive, though I did have a Webcam and USB 3 HDD plugged in too. Everything would work great until I plugged in the vive, then I'd have to unplug everything except the wheel, shifter, M&K and the Vive. Not Ideal since my tower isn't exactly easily accessable. And when the wheel and shifter are plugged in, the Vive "wands" don't work on the VR dash, neither does the wheel, so you need a pad plugged in just to be able to reset the seated position every so often. My question is, will adding an internal PCI USB card increase that USB bandwidth, or is it limited by the processor itself?
  5. I'd go along with it, Tell him you got your licence and it cost a small fortune. Then every time you see him, be overly thankful that he let you know about it.
  6. @XboxSupport When will the SMS service alerts come to the UK?
