I was really confused as to how important G-Sync was, but yeah I guess it's not that important. I'll look into 144hz IPS panels, but they really don't come nearly as cheap as TN panels, lol. It was a Zotac AMP! Extreme Edition 1070 and I got it for around $350 on a sale. I managed to get my eyes on an IPS monitor and I'm not going to lie, it looks nice, but they're so damn expensive.

Alright, thanks for the info on the G-Sync stuff and the HD shorthands. That actually helps a lot because I couldn't get one answer on that online. Is there any alternative to the VG248QE? Everybody refers to it like the Holy Grail of budget 144hz monitors lol.

I'm going to start this off quickly and say that I have a GTX 1070 on the way and my TN 59Hz monitor doesn't seem very fitting of it, imo. As such, I've been looking into 144hz monitors and looking up all types of stuff on Google and I've come out rather confused thanks to the huge variance in responses. I'll list my questions based on how important they are to me. 1) I mindlessly blew a lot of cash on the GTX 1070, so what's the best budget 144hz 1080p monitor? 2) Are G-Sync/Freesync really that important? Also, I heard somewhere that Nvidia cards work with Freesync, but I'm pretty sure that they don't, right? 3) Is Nvidia Lightboost actually good at reducing motion blur? 4) Do HD, FHD, and UHD really matter when I'm picking a budget monitor? 5) Should I really blow cash over IPS rather than TN? Thanks.

My CPU has had overheating problems in the past as it hit 98°C once which prompted me to rush out and snag a Hyper 212 EVO cooler for it. My problem is that it idles at 70°C and entering a heavy gaming session has no effect on its temperature. I'm just concerned about how it's so hot while idle. It's the middle of a cold night here in California, so it's not just ambient temperature messing with the sensors. Help?

My computer hasn't been making use of my sparkly new 1080p 144hz monitor, so I've been looking to upgrade my graphics card. I currently have an i5-4690k (not OC'ed, I'm too stupid to OC) and I'm trying to not spend a bunch of money on an upgrade. I've been thinking of an RX480 or a GTX 1060, but I wasn't sure if that would make a big enough increase in performance, so I've also considered the 1070 and was thinking of going with that. I just need a graphics card that can hit 144fps on high settings in games like Rainbow 6 Siege for example. As an extra note, I'd like to keep it to Nvidia's line as I use an Nvidia Shield to play on my TV in the living room when I feel laid-back. Thanks.

So, he sent me this and went back to sleep lol.

So, my buddy started laughing and he agreed. He arrived at this for his final build.
-
So, he wanted me to post this in response to your suggestions, but I guess he skipped over the DDR4 part lol.
-
It's completely new. He has none of the parts so far. Btw, this isn't important, but your next post will be your 4,200th.

Hello peeps, I was helping my friend with his PC build, but I'm not really a specialist, so I was wondering if you guys could look at it for me/him. Here's his PCPartPicker link. He was particularly unsure about his monitors being able to work with his graphics card. I was pretty sure they would work, but not completely sure, so that's probably the main focus for his build. Thanks.

My friend wants a gaming laptop so that she can play League, but she's on a budget of $500. She might move onto something different in the future, but for the time being its just for League. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks.
