  1. I think im probably just going to try to do it through windows. I was reading somewhere that you needed windows 10 Pro in order to do mirroring but i'm still not sure if thats the case since i have it setup (I think). Ill probably backup the data then use the 512 to 4k sector, then try to clone it to the array. Anyway thanks for the help.
  2. ok thanks for the help. Im using a b150 mobo so i dont think it supports raid.
  3. yeah. Im using windows 10 home and I setup a mirrored pool which i guess is the same as raid 1.
  4. Could this have also been why on the disk management program the option for mirror isn't available unless you create the pool first?
  5. How come all my other hard drives show up as 512 sectors then?
  6. I created a windows mirror pool for 2 5TB HDD's. Im trying to clone my current 1TB drive over to the array but i keep getting a sector size error. From doing a little bit of research my WD 1 TB blue drive uses 512 bytes/sector and the Windows pool array uses 4096 bytes/sector. When i cloned my 1 TB HDD to the single 5TB hdd not in a pool, everything worked. If anyone knows a way to change the secort size in a windows 10 pool or a software other than macrium reflect that will allow me to do this please let me know.
  7. For Christmas i got 2 5tb HDD's which i was planning to run in windows raid 1. Im using windows 10 home and im not sure if i have to upgrade to pro in order to use storage pools. This is what it looks like. if i have to upgrade to windows 10 pro what would be the cheapest way?
  8. I gave up doing research on raid cards and setups and just went with 2 5td hdds in windows raid 1. I put them in my main pc
  9. Did you ever get the software raid thing figured out? If you ended up using software raid 10 how are the speeds?
  10. Have you gotten it setup yet?
  11. Have you decided on anything yet? I am in the exact situation you are in.
  12. Do you use a RAID card or software RAID?
  13. I am looking for a new storage solution for my growing steam and plex library. I've decided on going with a raid 5 array of 3 drives. I want this to be the last time I have to worry about storage issues so 3 * 4TB drives will be enough. Looking on amazon i found 2 different models for HDD's that both have great reviews. If someone could help me with which one to get that would be helpful. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071WLPRHN/ price history -256MB cache -(RPM not on seagates site or in manual) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LNJBA50/ref=psdc_1254762011_t1_B071WLPRHNprice history -64MB cache -7600 RPM
