michaeldeve got a reaction from arvark in 4690K + gtx 770
im still running a 2500k and not having any problems and could still probably put a modern gpu in it with no issues, a 4690k will still last you awhile. probably a few more years, unless they release something that is not just 10% better (which they won't)

a 4690K is still a really good processor and will easily run with a 770

If the board supports XMP, which it should because it is a z series board, the ram should work, all you need to do is go into the bios and enable it.

michaeldeve got a reaction from ShadowCaptain in Thunderbolt motherboard
Currently if you cant think of something you do often that will be helped out by the use of thunderbolt there is no particular reason to get it, USB 3.0 is sufficient enough for file transfers and even most solid state external drives will not get much benefit from thunderbolt. Though if you are willing to spend the extra money and you can think of reasons for it then Asus would be your best bet with their add on cards for some of their mobos. Though it does come at a cost with the add on cards for Asus motherboards costing 70 dollars for something that does not have much uses on top of the price of a compatible Mobo if you dont have one already.

michaeldeve got a reaction from Gunjob in Patent to "force" phones into certain state when in a certain location!
It would be nice to have peoples phones not going off in the cinema but on the other hand this can be easily exploited by anyone so i don't think it is worth the risk.

michaeldeve got a reaction from Vitalius in Future of gaming - 3D, 4K, VR - Discuss!
oculus are planning on raising the resolution in the rift for the consumer model though and if I can remember right they have demoed a 1080p version, which is not perfect but it is a massive improvement.
EDIT: they demoed it at E3, you can see here:http://www.oculusvr.com/blog/oculus-at-e3-2013/

michaeldeve got a reaction from azzo in Future of gaming - 3D, 4K, VR - Discuss!
personally I predict that there will be a huge influx of virtual reality hardware in the next few years but it is going to take awhile (if ever) to become more popular than the standard monitor layout that we currently have. Also I do not think that 3D will become that popular in gaming because of all of the new technologies such as the oculus rift that provide a much more imersive gameplay which is making 3D technology sort of obsolete.

michaeldeve got a reaction from mvitkun in WD Giveaway failed..
the main problems with the videos were that there wasn't much more to learn about hard drives or more innovation except for them making slightly small hard drives. the videos also felt like they were just promotional and nothing else.
