Thank you for your input. I'll wait for the SSD and then update! -
Abrupt and persistent stutters in games.
DeathStalkerGR replied to DeathStalkerGR's topic in Troubleshooting
UPDATE : Due to the fact that I was away from home and my pc wasn't actually used (except from my mom who uses youtube and some MS teams calls) I didn't realise that the faulty drive , actually is the OS drive because it's the bigger one in terms of size. So Dead space isn't on the faulty drive , neither Diablo4 , just RDR 2 . I dunno if that makes the issue worse (it probably should), cause having the OS in a dying SSD probably is the crux of the issue , even if I run some games from a different SSD. I dunno, not sure. -
Abrupt and persistent stutters in games.
DeathStalkerGR replied to DeathStalkerGR's topic in Troubleshooting
I haven't checked the CMOS battery voltage, I will do that in a few. The motherboard is quite old , so after the BIOS updates that fixed my problems I stopped installing BIOS updates because it wasn't neccesary. The AMD GPU driver that I have is decently recent , and the best I think in terms of overall stability 23.11.1 . -
Good evening and Happy New Year to the LTT forum team. I will be simple and concise, that is, as much as I can. You see at the end of December when there were some decent offers from Steam I bought Dead Space Remake and I thought I will come home from my vacation in from the Greek Capital and I will play the game. I know it's not the best port in terms of stutters, but I say, okay, the refund period has passed and I got it cheap, what can I do? I fire it up, and okay, until the machine "warms up" the stutters are apparent and some of them hard, bordering on one whole second. That is, it freezes for a good frame. I know that it has to do with the way it loads and unloads the assets and "maps" and that regardless of the machine it can have these hangs. After that I'm also running Read Dead Redemption 2 because after 1 on the switch I said I'd play the second one again a little bit to remember the old days. And I get to Armadillo (a village with 5 inhabitants or so) and it has the same stutter (one second) and my frames for a very short time drop to single digits. I say something is wrong. For the record , it's a fresh install of windows 11 (November 2nd 2023 and 11/15 I left and came back yesterday) with RX 5700XT GPU version 23.11.1 (all PC in my signature). I've tried debloating with ChrisTitusTech's tools but also closing EVERYTHING in the background while I play and it doesn't make much of a difference. Yesterday night ago I was in discord with my friends and we were watching the yesterdays NFL match and my system is getting started stuttering in discord (my friends audio got corrupted and lagged hard) and I open the task manager and I see that the secondary SSD that does not have an OS has tanked and is locked at 100% usage for about 10 seconds until it starts to fall. I thought something is not going well. Ok, it's a patriot ssd and they are cheap as frick , and I thought of downloading HDD Sentinel and I see the following (picture in the end). And my question is the following. Is it possible for my games to stutter if the failing Patriot disk has only some games and not the OS, and not currently used? To be honest, my C : drive has the OS (Windows 11 latest) and only Red Dead Redemption 2 , and the patriot one (the faulty) has Diablo 4 and Dead Space the rest of my games. Anyhow today I ordered an nvme Samsung 1TB ssd to fix my problems hopefully. Please your give me your input. (PS. Oh yes, and now I was ready to format again for windows 10 because I'm stuck. In your opinion, should I put 11 and be done with it or choose 10s? Especially since the 10 now have a year of support from MS. Thanks and sorry for the long post.

Major dilemma with RAM selection.
DeathStalkerGR replied to DeathStalkerGR's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I have 2 SSDS and I run all my demanding and *main* games off of them . I've tried OC'ing my RAM from 2400MHZ to 2666MHZ without touching timings and volts and it's stalbe for only a handful of games and make others crash. I am sure that if I adjust the timings using RAM Calculator I could squeeze 2666MHZ but I'm positive that I couldn't go further from that. I also think it's kinda absurd that I'm CPU limited on a very capable gaming CPU of 2017 on a game that launched the same year. What I mean by that is what kind of CPU should I have to play this game or any other poorly optimised game with respectable , stable *60* fps ? Thanks for your answer though ! -
Major dilemma with RAM selection.
DeathStalkerGR replied to DeathStalkerGR's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
So in that situation a CPU upgrade is a better choice overall , right? I have issues only in Assassins Creed games (Origins for that matter) but I guess Odyssey will be equally as bad or even worse in terms of CPU limitation. I find it weird that in large cities my framerates fluctuate all over the place and when I'm in somewhere "quiet" I hit 120FPS ... And graphical settings doesn't seem to make any difference. That's why I wanted to ask whether to change RAM or CPU first... -

Thank you my friend ! One last thing though. In a Greek forum one person told me that it's gonna be better for my FPS stability and overall smoothness if I get the Ryzen 5 3600 now instead and then buy the 3200MHZ ram because the tradeoff will be much higher , cause ZEN2 gives less emphasis on faster ram. Is it true in my situation? That CPU is 176,57€ which is roughly 190,92$ in price. -

So the flare X you think is better for my situation? Spending the little extra money for that? Thank you ! -

Which G Skill kit you're referring to? The flare X or the Ripjaws? -
Hey there guys! After a successful buy of my new GPU the RX 5700XT Nitro +, I was thinking of changing my 16GB Corsair Vengeance Ram that runs on the specced 2400MHZ to 3200MHZ that is the cap of my motherboard support. My question is this. Should I get the officially supported QVL RAM or should I buy the one that makes more sense to bang for my buck? I have in mind 3 sets of memory and two of them are officially supported by the QVL (one is RYZEN ready too) and the last one isn't. 1)https://www.skroutz.gr/s/7332757/Corsair-Vengeance-LPX-16GB-DDR4-3200MHz-CMK16GX4M2B3200C16.html?from=account_favorites (Supported) 2)https://www.skroutz.gr/s/11436424/G-Skill-Flare-X-16GB-DDR4-3200MHz-F4-3200C14D-16GFX.html?from=account_favorites (Supported) 3)https://www.skroutz.gr/s/7730092/G-Skill-RipjawsV-16GB-DDR4-3200MHz-F4-3200C16D-16GVKB.html?from=account_notifications#sku_review_667901 (Not Supported) The Flare X ones are better than the other two (CAS Latency 14 - and are Ryzen Ready) but they are slightly more expensive. Which one to pick? NOTE: The links are of a Greek price checking and comparing site that is very handy for buyers from my country (Greece). Keep in mind that all in all the prices of these RAM are kinda the same worldwide (not taking into account some weird or sudden deals). I would like your opinion on the quality of RAM and what you think is best on my setup. Spend the extra money for the peace of mind and CAS 14 or save these money for an upcoming ryzen 5 3600 or even 4600? Thanks a lot!

Thank you guys all, for the help, making the decision easier. I think I'll go though with the instalation of the alta9 and see what is gonna happen in terms of cooling. Take care! ?
-
My girlfriend now has my old Intel i5 2500, and one of the clips that snap into the holes are broken and thus the cooling is impaired. Yesterday I rushed to my closest pc store and asked a cooler about 1155 socket and specifically that one. The store owner told me that the deepcool alta 9 was enough. Upon seeing the tdp on the alta 9 was 65w and the Intel 2500 is 95w I asked him if it would be sufficient and he said that it would be okay. Now I don't know whether I should replace it and not care or I should I keep the old one cause it's still working fine. (not as intended but fine)

Hey mate, I've been experiencing this issue myself too, and I think the problem started since my windows 10 build auto updated. And it also happened late December 2018. I think it has to do with some kind of conflict while updating to the latest version. I have 17763 build of windows 10 pro 64 bit, and a ryzen setup (which I think you can see in my signature) Have you solved your issue somehow? I've tried the usual suspects with power management and the like and nothing worked, it just delayed the inevitable. Haven't reinstalled OS though and I'm thinking of doing it anyway.

It may be a faulty mobo. One day prior to your post I posted here the same exact problem , though my errors were more significant. I couldn't play ANYTHING remotely demanding. I bought everything brand new at 12/18/2017 except the case and the RX470 from XFX. I had the same issues, and tomorrow my new replacement motherboard will arrive and I'll test it and reply with the findings. bought the cpu and mobo from the same retailer here in Greece, but I just sent the mobo because the errors were clearly showing "GPU driver problem" , so I figured it wouldn't be the cpu. I also tried an old Nvidia card and crashed in seconds (just like my RX470), so I thought it was the motherboard. Did you find anything?

Huge issue regarding AMD GPU Drivers. HELP
DeathStalkerGR replied to DeathStalkerGR's topic in Graphics Cards
2nd UPDATE. I swapped an old GT440 nvidia card and Valley Benchmark crashed IMMEDIATELY. It's official, the board is faulty. I will sent it for RMA tommorow. Thanks for the support, this community is the best. Cheers and merry Christmas.
