    Advice on gaming PC build.

Thanks everyone. I think the general consensu is to change about CPU/GPU and wait for the next gen parts to come out. I'll let him know as he has already said he doesn't mind waiting. Thanks guys.
  2. Ok so I'm planning and building a PC for a friend who will mainly be playing Fortnite. I've been out of the loop for a few years since I made my last PC so want to make sure it will achieve his goals. He wants to play Fortnite on maximum settings and get 150fps+ for his 144hz monitor. However, he may play other games too naturally. The build list so far is: - Intel I7 9700k - Asus ROG Strix Z390E - 16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4-3000 - WD Blue 500GB M.2 SSD - EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 - and then the cooler, case and PSU. Will this be sufficient? Overkill? Not enough? Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Experiences with non-techies

I have only read so far through this forum so may have been covered. The vertical orientation for video is certainly questionable especially with 35 degrees. Portrait photographs can look stunning when the situation asks for it (normally depends on subject, lines, patterns, effect etc). The 35 degree angle makes me think otherwise but most competent photographers/videographers use lighting in the day as fill lighting to prevent harsh shadows and achieve certain effects. Lighting can be evil to fix in post so get it right at first and all will be good. Fill light depends on subject though and only really used on people (can be used on objects in limited situations). But from you saying it was at 35 degrees it does sound more mIs take than competence. Don't take this as trying to shoot your comment out or as "trolling" is it? Just a prosumer/enthusiast photographer and using light in daylight is alien to anyone before they get into it and learn the principles.

My First Build Plan - High End

Just had a quick look there and looks good. Thinking about it I may just get the normal super locked ACX and use an additional corsair AIO with their adapter on it which will leave me open to put a custom loop on it too.

My First Build Plan - High End

Ah I see, will have to decide as I am planning on doing a custom loop but it might not be with initial build. Or what is more likely is that I will do a limited one with initial build as I am getting the H110I GT AIO unit. Want to keep temps as low as possible ha, well doesn't everyone, but because it is first build I am slightly paranoid about them. Sure it will go ok though. It is all a learning process so all good. Will have to think.

My First Build Plan - High End

Yes I know ha, I want it to look good so not too worried. Agreed, I always knew the PSU is overkill but I don't really want to build another major PC for 4-5 years and I intend to upgrade parts and will add new stuf so want it to handle what I throw at it. Also I am hoping I can use it for my next build so investment over value. Ok I am liking the look of the 980ti. The hybrid, doesn't that have and all in one water cooling system attached and isn't the ACX 2.0 just an air cooled one? So the hybrid would be better, am I right? Would the hybrid also be compatible if one day decided to replace the AIO cooling with my custom loop? Indeed I wanted it to be a great build. Can't wait to build it ha. Thank you for the comment. Thanks

My First Build Plan - High End

What will I actually notice by getting the Titan over the 980ti? After considering it further from the comments on here I am not sure. What areas will I notice differences and more importantly what differences (how much of a difference) will I notice? Thanks, I appreciate everyones advice and feedback. However, same applies, please keep it to what I have asked, do NOT go trying to change anything else on my build as it is pointless and rather annoying. I pick my parts for a reason. Please also read the post as a lot of comments were from people who obviously didn't read it. Sorry to be so blunt but I said this in the post and not many listened ha. Once again thanks.

My First Build Plan - High End

Yes indeed, I did say there as well that I wanted 4k IPS or ultra wide. If I am honest I think it would be more likely the 4k. It will be IPS either way. If I am getting the Titan anyway surely it can support both ha. I appreciate you time and advice.

My First Build Plan - High End

I did mention in the post that it would be the occasional gaming as I have a console too. Yes I like playing around with videos and would be a lot of photo editing too. Like I said I am not bothered about cheaper to be honest ha.

Sorry what do you mean about the keyboard? Didn't quite get what you were saying. And eventually I would be putting a second Titan in but it just isn't as important for me to factor in the initial build.

My First Build Plan - High End

Certainly sounds good enough for me to keep my Titans. I assume it impacts photos as well being resolution etc.?

My First Build Plan - High End

Ok so VRAM, I know the basics that it is video ram and can accessed by two things at once. Rather than spending hours researching (like normal, I over research stuff ha) hopefully I will save a lot of time by using your knowledge ha. What is going to use it and where will I see it in effect and performing? Thanks

My First Build Plan - High End

I don't want that keyboard which is why I put the keyboard I wanted on there. Same with the PSU. If I am to change the GPU I am going to need some good justification on why I should change it? If it is because it is better value I am not bothered about value haha. Thanks for the input . Really though the keyboard stays ha.

One thing in addition though, I hate the brown on the fans and the industrial has minimal amounts. I would get deltas and try and keep the, quiet but a bit confused about running the power from PSU and controlling from mobo.

RE: PSU and GPU see above comment ha. And the nocturnal fans I may have to look into. I want the best cooling capability while keeping it silent hopefully ha.
