I believe the 'crowd' wished to know why the employee was let go, not the person. It is convinient that one side of the party cannot disclose legally why someone was let go, they cannot defend their side from it. And before I get 'corrected' I am not saying that anyone is wrong, but you can't avoid bias if you only have one side of a story. We may only ever hear one side, and that is not a fair state to be in, no matter the scenario.

Wrong or right, I find it peculiar that the entire world seems to be dumping on Linus in particular at the moment. And if we are concerned about one induviduals mental health, why are aren't we concerned about anothers? Allow him to correct his business. We are all obviously (according to comments all over the internet) expecting him to continue to be Linus; we can expect better, but we don't need to burn him at the stake for it. As for GN, they've definately profited from this debacle. I was a massive fan, particularly impressed with their coverage of the 7800X3D issues recently. And if it wasn't got GN, we wouldn't think twice about the issues on LTT. God forbid GN makes a mistake in the future.

But just how GN went about the reporting of this (as necessary as it was) hasn't sat right with me for the last 24 hours, depite obviously being a million times removed from the entire ordeal. When GN (or any of the great community guys) call out Intel or whoever, why does the internet not fall over denying them their fantastic profits etc? But because it's Linus, we can poop on his door mat all day. Who gives crap, right?

Just doesn't sit right with me.

And nobody forced Billet to got to the big bad corporate YouTube company.
They could have gone with perfect „small“ creator like GN, but they didn’t.
And we all know why. This was always a business transaction.

This entire debacle is what happens when you don't have a strong PR plan in place. The internet is truly a dogshit place. There are people in the comments on the subreddit saying "Linus should lose custody of his kids over this" and incel morons with the classic "what if woman is lying cause woman???" takes all over these forums.

Hopefully obvious trolling aside, it's actually insane how poorly this entire saga reflects on everyone involved, including (especially) this audience. GamersNexus should have reached out for comment re: the block. It's pretty clear that situation was not malicious but rather plain stupid and would've been easily fixed by an earnest email. His video would've been just as accurate with that context or leaving it out altogether and only talking about the data accuracy issues (which warrant discussion). These forums and the subreddit look like a train wreck because everyone prefers drama and "THEY SHOULD SUE HIM FOR EVERYTHING" over a simple "actually it's nuanced and pretty clearly an honest if shitty mistake."

Accidents, mistakes, oversights, even critical HR mistakes are almost never malicious. I tend to believe everything Madison says is her truth - and I can easily see why a company full of people who have no idea what they're doing would make some of the very poor decisions it sounds like they made. It's very clear that LMG is in way over their head in running a business this size. That doesn't mean LMG shouldn't be held accountable, but it also doesn't mean we get to advocate for "taking kids away" or public lashings or ruining lives or whatever.

This is not excusing any of what's happened, but this entire saga is what happens when an online community gets to run rampant and a company doesn't know how to effectively manage their communications. A good internal and external communications plan would have made this whole thing smoother from start to finish.

The apology video was needed. The story in the Verge is needed. Honesty is needed from LMG, but grace is also needed from those expressing opinions, whether audience member or fellow YouTuber.

inb4 "so they can ruin businesses but we can't???!?" and "cAn LinUS gEt ArrestEd for ThEFTT???" and other assorted nonsense that proves this point.

If I'm understanding this correctly, you want a wireless keyboard with a USB-C input for charging?
You should only consider TKL if you know that you won't miss the numberpad. Are you frequently doing time-sensitive data entry?

Keychron K8 Wireless looks like the right choice.
Preferably you should grab the hot-swappable option so that you can experiment with different keyswitches in the future.

I personally use the NuPhy Air75
Has nice RGB options and I love low-profile keyboards - reminds me of Apple's Magic Keyboard.

JustChilliing got a reaction from soldier_ph in 'Luckyboy' Malvertising campaign hits iOS, Android, Xbox users
    Executive Summary:
LuckyBoy Malvertising campaign has penetrated 10 Demand Side Platforms (DSPs) (where platform publishers sell advertising space), mostly in Europe but with confirmed cases in the US and Canada. Security vendor Media Trust has said that the malware checks for the presence of blockers, testing environments (such as being loaded onto a virtual machine) and active debuggers, and will not execute if found. The users behind LuckyBoy are being exceptionally careful at being caught for this type of Malvertising, indicating a well versed team in this type of campaign.
It is not uncommon for Android applications to have bad adverts embedded in that have been applied once Google's automatic application vetting process has given the greenlight, however they have made significant progress in the last year removing applications (normally based on a paid alternative with similar functions, or simply fake apps designed to look legitmate) that break their rules.

It is not insignificant in the threat landscape that an attacker like this tries to hide from detection, and even more impressive that they are hiding from non-desired targets. Whether or not it is removed from a non-target system remains to be seen.

    Closing thoughts
Notable in this case is the sophisticated use of tracking pixels1. This could be an attempt to decide who a target of interest may be, before executing the payload - who this could apply to remains to be seen. It will be interesting to see who the targets are, and how their evasion techniques adjust to ensure low detection probabillities within systems. There is also very little users can do to combat the malvertising, as the publisher will apply the advertising to those that their data shows it is relevant to, possibly limited the targets available in some way. I expect affected devices will require patching however it should be on the penetrated DSP provider to resolve any issues.

1: Marketing pixels, aka tracking pixels, are essentially these tiny snippets of code that allow you to gather information about visitors on a website—how they browse, what type of ads they click on, etc. This behavior data helps you, as a marketer, send the user paid ads that are likely to be most interesting to them.

JustChilliing got a reaction from Ben17 in Ethernet cabling not working on PC but working on Laptop
I have just finished installing CAT5e cabling throughout my house, a behind the walls job so not easy to undo now. I moved my tower from my parents house to my new house and all of a sudden this issue popped up.  I've had a look at all the cables and everything is working just fine but now when I plug in my tower PC into the system, it shows as 'identifying' then tells me:

"Ethernet" doesn't have a valid IP Configuration, and
A network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken

Now unless I've used 6 broken patch cables I don't know what the issue could be, and I'm not sure what the problem is concerning the IP address.
If I plug my tower into the ISP router, it works, as well as the downstairs CAT5e sockets.  My laptop works on all of the sockets. I've also tried replacing the ethernet card that I have plugged into the PCI-e slot.
I have reset the device, updated drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled, tried different rooms, some fancy cmd prompt inputs but they require me to be online to work and I can't get online.

I had terrible WiFi signal in my old house so I never bothered to get a WiFi card.

If there are any networking gurus out there your help would be appreciated!!

I've never looked at my iPhone 5S and gone "Blimey I wish I had a 4k screen on this sucker".

I've also never been in the middle of sending a text to my boss thinking "Jeeze if this had a 8-cores my text would be even faster to 62mph".

I've also never run out of storage, the 32GB is the new 16GB stuff doesn't bother me... My fault if I keep 2000 photos that I never look at on my phone .

And I pay for my phones over contract, so price isn't really an issue there, I have a budget and I stick to it.

Problem with Android phones for me, is that there is X different phone models with X specs, and X versions of Android, so I don't know how far you have to look into an app before downloading it to see if it actually works, my experience with Android was short and bitter, my iPhone 4 did not run later stuff, my 5S does, easy!

Thinking about it, all my friends have iPhones, my family all have iPhones (no one has an Apple watch I'm pleased to report) and that works in our favour with the calls/texts over Wifi etc.

So yeah, I like my iPhone.
