  1. We can't access any system restore option.
  2. We've tried that it seems to be a consistent problem. Of course! Why didn't I think of this!? Any other advice?
  3. He doesn't seem to have any backups laying around.
  4. A friend of mine can't access his laptop due to this issue, and everything I've suggested has had no success, so I thought I'd ask the minds here for their advice. When he turns on his computer and gets to his login screen, the background image appears but the login menu does not. I suggested he try to boot in safe mode, but when he did, a prompt came up telling him that there a problems preventing Windows from starting. I was hoping there'd be a "run recovery" option when booting up, but it doesn't seem like that's provided with the laptop he's using, so I've run out of ideas, save for overwriting his version of Windows or getting a new hard drive.
  5. It's OCed. I didn't do it myself, I used software to do it, so I assumed it was stable.
  6. So I was rendering a video and all of a sudden my computer crashed displaying the error "WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR." I'm assuming it's got something to do with my CPU, but I'm no expert on this. Any advice?
  7. Alright thanks! I'll keep my PSU on then.
  8. But does it also run while it is powered?
  9. Does the CMOS battery on a motherboard continually run, or only when the PSU isn't on? I wanted to turn off my PSU at night but I was told that doing that causes the battery that holds the BIOS memory to run, but when I did my own research, I got conflicting answers.
  10. So instead of hooking up a fan to the CPU_opt connector, it'd be better to use a fan splitter on one of the PWM headers?
  11. The motherboard is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132565&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=
  12. I was wondering what the difference is between these connectors listed on a motherboard's specifications:
  13. The second sentence went a little over my head. If I use one fan per PWM header, how powerful can said fans be for optimal performance?
  14. So if there is, say, 6 fan connectors, each can run 3-4 fans?
