*sigh* ... more BS from Microsoft Updates.

I have the "deferred updates" option on, AND I have a GPO rule that won't let Windows Update download or install anything until I go into Windows Update and click the "Download" button.

With that said, I recently went into Windows update and proceeded with updates that had been pilling up for a few weeks. After the update I started having weird behaviors, some games wouldn't load (I would get weird error messages with no solutions online, apart from the usual, and useless, sfc /scannow and reinstalling Windows ... not gonna do that), and saving images files from Chrome would give me an error saying the file I'm trying to save doesn't exists (WTF?!??!), but drang-and-drop from Chrome works!?

I tried quite a few things, including disabling Windows Defender, but nothing worked. Until today ...

For some reason, there's a setting in Win Defender called "Controlled Folder Access" that would stay "on" even when disabling Defender ... There's a menu to add or remove protected folders or to let an application through protected folders, but that doesn't work (I've tried many different things and I would still get errors), BUT simply turning that option off (while having Defender on or off) fixed my issues.

Thanks MS for your broken OS and tools ಠ╭╮ಠ
