I'll try to take a picture, but they have whole streets with tiny stores, and sometimes some mobile ones, that open before surise to make all kinds of food for people to get their breakfasts. It's all great food! xD

@Ordinarily_Greater that's plain "youtiao", or Chinese doughnuts, no stuffing. I love those ... They're everywhere BTW, you can even get them as a breakfast item at KFC! xD

Does your VPN work on the great firewall of China?

Ah... 油条 (Chinese donuts). Fresh ones are so good...

@hey_yo_ yeah, I'm using SoftEther installed on my NAS with a dynamic DNS in case my IP at home change.

@DocSwag yeah, fresh ones are the best! Sadly in Canada the ones at restaurants are expensive and the store bought are cheap but frozen and so not so good!

Are you using OpenVPN or IKEv2?

  14. WkdPaul

    WkdPaul

Using L2TP/IPsec through SoftEther VPN server (I think it's based of OpenVPN), I was suggested some free solutions by people in China but none worked. Thankfully the SoftEther solution I setup before leaving works! :)

How about a build guide how to setup a personal VPN?

Might do that when coming back :)

Can you access Google services like Gmail or Netflix from China?

  18. WkdPaul

    WkdPaul

Only through a VPN, Google services (including YT) and other stuff like Facebook and Twitter are all blocked.

So here Android phones rely on other services, often supplied by the phone makers.
