  1. the registry path ; HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WorkplaceJoin Key (dword); “BlockAADWorkplaceJoin” Value 1 That'll block the "Allow my organization to manage my device” setting in the background. We have that in the MS Office GPO for anyone that logs into our VDI farm (we're using AVD, not Citrix).
  2. Teams on VDIs is a HUGE pain, here's my questions ; - are you guys using the machine wide installer ? - have you blocked the "Allow my organization to manage my device” in the registry ? From the tests we did, you don't really have a choice to have Teams data be in each user profile and not on the machine (even with the "machine wide installer"). We're using FSlogix for the user profiles so that this stuff follows them regardless of the VM they login. It's still buggy but blocking the "Allow my organization to manage my device” fix most of the problems we had ... but we still have regular issues and have to wipe whole profiles from time to time. If you have profile management, you should also add the Teams folders to the profile container.
  3. Update the BIOS and clear the CMOS, that should do the trick, if not, re-seating the CPU should.

  5. That system can easily run on a 400W if not lower ... I have a 3rd gen i7 and a 1060 on a 400W HP PSU and it's perfectly fine. If the issue doesn't come back, it might be just a fluke, but I would still check if the front panel IO connections to the motherboard and to the IO board itself too. It's possible the connector on the front IO board has vibrated away due to shipping, meaning you have a poor connection on the front IO itself, and so when you're connecting things to it, it could cause the connector to move and possible short (that's all speculation, but I wouldn't see why else connecting that would happen with the audio connector).

You could tell that some of the people here on the forum too. People jump to conclusions way too quickly.

To be fair, 9/10 problems on facebook groups are caused by uneven beds or improper z offsets 😂

There's a lot of online services, lots of local people that also offer printing services. Another thing is public library, the one in my city offers 3D printing classes and you can reserve schedules for 3D printing something, you would still need to figure out the slicer settings, or maker spaces also offer schedules for printing.
  8. yes, because of economy of scale it's a LOT cheaper to reuse an already existing frame and battery on this type of device, plus, as a bonus it makes for impressive battery life. Lenovo does this with their "business" line of laptops, multiple models but the bottom frame will remain similar on a lot of those models even if the specs and motherboard changes.
  9. * your thread was moved to the Laptops and Pre-Built Systems section * Next time, please post "hey look at this" types of content as a status update. And lastly ; laptop having batteries that takes up half the frame (or almost) is pretty standards nowadays.

as @Kilrahsaid, SLA can be as much as a PITA as FDM, but in different ways, and sometimes, in similar ways too. Build plate adhesion issues still happen with SLA, and when that happens, the clean up is something else (you'll need to separate hardened and partly cured resin from the uncured resin, make sure not to spill that everywhere, be careful what you touch because you'll somehow get resin on your gloves, then there's all the printed part cleanup, dealing with liters of isopropyl alcohol, etc...). It's also not a "set it up and forget it" thing, SLA printers also have settings that you need to figure out (exposure time VS layer height). Personally I went with FDM because of all the mods and tinkering you can do (even though it's absolutely NOT necessary, plenty of people run their FDM printer bone stock).
  11. Turns out it was 100% user error ... One of the Cura profile had a temp of 175°c !!! I'm surprised the cheap no-brand filament had no issues with that!!
  12. Well ... Lesson learned!

I was having issues with my 3D prints, one filament was fine (the cheap no-brand one), while the Creality name brand filament had bed and layer adhesion issues!

Did tests (temp tower) among others things and they would always turn ok, but I kept having failed prints.

Turns a Cura profile I'm using wasn't set properly and had the nozzle temperature set to 175°c !!! That is WAY too low ... Except for the cheap no-brand PLA apparently !!!

Realized it today while I was babysitting another print (expecting a fail) and wanted to see what was the issue, that's when I spotted the temp on the LCD! 😅

So not something I want either then.  How about creating items that go to some company like shapeways or whatnot?

I really need to get into 3D printing. I already have the 3D modelling skills, and off the top of my head I can quickly think of a few parts to design and print that would be useful around the house.

Just yesterday I modeled and printed a stocking fire place mantle hook for my girlfriend, works very well.

I would recameand getting hatchbox PLA

I've had good success with Overture PLA which is a bit cheaper, but I got Hatchbox Silk Rose PLA for a project for a friend, and this stuff is absolutely amazing. My brims practically fall off instead of peeling off which is awesome, however I feel there's a teeny bit of under extrusion happening compared to the overture pla and silk PLA, so that may be why. Would need to do more fine tuning to figure it out.

    Well ... That aged like milk ;
  14. So, I got 3 spools of filament, only tried 2, the first one is cheap "no brand" filament, the other is Creality filament... Turns out I'm have a TON of problems with the Creality filament (specifically bed and layer adhesion), I tried the temp tower to see if it was related but it's not, I think it's just a bad batch? The cheap brand works fantastic, so I'm wondering if I should bring the Creality branded filament that's unopened for an exchange... They also have Flashforge filament that I might try regardless.
  15. Yeah don't listen to that guy, the PSU is more than fine, you could run your setup on a 550w PSU and have plenty room left. For the RAM, you could run memtest to see if it's the issue, or trying the RAM in different configurations, like 1 stick only, etc... (sorry, didn't read the whole thread so maybe you did already?).

We usually don't discuss moderation publicly, but for transparency purposes ; The subject isn't Tech News, that's why it's in the off-topic section, it was originally locked but seeing at it was reposted twice, we decided to merge and unlock, and we're keeping an eye on it. IMO, it will 100% eventually be locked again, it's really just a matter of time, but we're giving members the benefit of the doubt, hoping they'll prove us wrong.
