It's more of a preference. I've seen some people online have much better results with Prusaslicer or superslicer over Cura, where running the same file and settings yielded different print qualities, but it wasnt always Prusa > Cura.

Cura has been around for a bit longer and has had the most updates, so most people who've gotten into printing are simply familiar with it.

@TVwazherestarted reading threads on different forums and on Reddit, seems like for some it's the UI, while for others it's the print quality, where they get a visible difference in artifacts and layer lines.

It's rather interesting, I'll get Prusa slicer and I'll experiment.

Got myself 1kg of filament, and I already have miniatures I want to print!! 😁

      Dont forget to use supports!

Cura has an optional Tree support which is good for models with varying degrees (literally) of supports. I also found "Enable support interface" is a good option too. It builds a small platform on top of the support that the real print then uses to build from. Kinda like a in-the-air raft.

  4. Creality Ender 3 v2 for $265 CAD (just under $200 USD)

Looking to get a new GPU, changed my 1060 3GB w…

CAD yes (so around $385 USD), I upgraded my 1060 3GB to a 1070 earlier this year for $135 CAD (so around $100 USD), while it was better, the 1070 was sold "as-is" and was in really bad shape (VERY dirty with a rust on some components and oxidation on the copper on the cooler), was able to fix it and make it work, but it's a bit unstable during hot summer days ! Though I'm not complaining since I bought it during the shortage when 1070 were sold for $300+ CAD !! Next upgrade will be high refresh rate monitors (stuck at 75Hz)
  6. If you check Backblaze yearly reports, Seagate has higher % of failed drives, best really remains HGST enterprise solutions, but I don't have that kind of money, and it's still a worse case scenario in regards to Backblaze, I'm never going to use my drives as hard as they do. Also, at work we have had a lot of NAS and Seagate doesn't have more problems than others, though my work isn't as intensive as Backblaze and we have a MUCH smaller sample size. Yup ... that's why I always buy my drives in pair now (regardless of brand), I just mirror them and make sure the important stuff has off-site backups.
  7. The WAN show is missing a bit of context, Eufy has facial recognition software that runs on the camera themselves (some people online are falsely saying the uploads to the Eufy servers is for the facial recognition, this isn't true), BUT, they do this for the notifications since the camera themselves can't really do that without some support (unless you're self-hosting, I don't see how cameras and doorbells could send you SMS or email notifications by themselves). With that said, the fact that the user can't delete those images, and that you're being fingerprinted and will be recognized by other Eufy devices is HIGHLY sketchy to say the least, and that's why I have a hard time believing they're GDPR compliant. See Paul Moore's videos if you want the source of the findings ; One of Paul Moore's Tweet about GDPR compliance ;

  9. Some models do have higher fail rate, it seems it's been much better in recent years. I have a few 1TB, 2TB, and 2 4TB, all Seagate, haven't had issues yet. **Touch wood**
  10. The Ender 3 v2 is on sale at Canada Computers for $265 CAD, was looking to get it and I thought the cheapest was the Creality Amazon store for $320. https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=34_1813&item_id=212545
  11. Turns out the Ender 3 v2 was on sale locally for $265 from a big retailer (Canada Computers). So I OP placed a pickup order and will probably get it tomorrow!

The 6700 xt for $480 was sold out almost immediately, switched to an Asus model for $520, anything else was either sold out also, or not on sale ($600+)
  13. New GPU , new keyboard and 2 HHD (8TB).

  15. I'm guessing it'll take a few days for that page to be changed.
  16. 100% agree, seeing how they were expecting to be profitable after the first year of ; buying 133 stores, setting up a distribution chain from the ground up, building a whole customer base, etc... Not sure who runs Target now, but whoever was in charge back in 2014-2015 was a complete moron.
  17. For decades, yes. We also got Target for 2 years, but the Target story is the most idiotic corporate story ; they opened 133 stores almost all at once (bought the rental agreement of a failing retailer), but they didn't have any distribution network, had half empty stores for weeks after opening, and then after the first 18 months, decided to close because they weren't profitable yet ...

  21. Being in Canada, price and availability is shit, brand new, the Prusa i3 mini, shipped to me would be $675 CAD + any import fee it may incur. (used is cheaper, but again, availability in my area isn't great). Creality has distributors and an official store (on Amazon) in Canada, the prices I listed ($320 and $350, all in CAD) are what the officials store listing them for sales are currently, and that includes shipping. The Prusa i3 mini seems like a great printer, but I'm not sure it's worth over double the price of an Ender 3 or 5. For the filaments, no worries, there's a local store with good supplies and they currently have sales for some filaments, it's more than $20 CAD, but close enough
  22. @Leventyeah, I was thinking the bigger print size isn't that uselful on the Ender 5 Pro since it's only on the Z axis (300mm vs 250mm) Having a 3D printer has been an itch for the last 3 years, there are SO many little things I'll model and print when I get it ... like the lock bar holders for my casement windows, it's small plastic clips that I can't find anywhere and have been "fixing" with small wood blocks that cracks every year! Also, there's a shit ton of community support for the Ender 3 (any and all variations), so it seems like a good choice if one plans on using support and mods from the community (there's a lot for the Ender 5, but it doesn't seem as much as the 3).
