I personally dislike Mac users as well. I just turned 16 and i bought the laptop when i was 13 so i was uneducated in this field of computer hardware back then (2011).
To make up for it, i installed windows 7 on it and have not used OS X since that installation.
I will be building a 4K Gaming Rig in about 2 months time and i cannot wait

one of many articles explaining why w3schools is a BAD

adding further, w3schools is basically a grocery store.  does a grocery store care about your nutrition?  hell no.  they care about having tasty products that make you keep coming back.  do they care about giving you the best prices? hell no, their sole reason for existence is to get your money at your expense.

what does this mean in terms of technology?  w3schools RARELY has links outside of its website because it doesn't benefit from other sites getting traffic.  this crucially cuts you off from hundreds (thousands?) of bloggers who have practical experience and can provide you with multiple teaching styles so you have the freedom to pick which one works best for you.

MDN is effectively a moderated public wiki.  if something is wrong or too new to be included, you're not stuck with outdated information because there are many, many other devs who are on the case and got your back.  this isn't wikipedia where you have page vandalism either.  technical data is held to the highest standard (the truth).

tbc reacted to Moosie in Let's massdrop a large sized mouse pad!
This is a good example of how people don't really understand Massdrop. Even if the Corsair mat is the #1 pick in the poll, it's not going to be dropped because Massdrop wouldn't be able to get a worthwhile deal from Corsair. The whole idea behind Massdrop is bringing high quality products from smaller manufacturers to a relatively large audience, which is awesome because a lot of them are good products. But that's why you see Mionix mice instead of Logitech or Razer products. Or why all the clothing is from boutique brands you've probably never heard of, rather than being Guess jeans or something like that. It's also why there's a lot of Kickstarter stuff on there.

The reason for this is that smaller manufacturers see greater (by proportion of total business) returns by doing the drops. Mionix makes super nice products, but they're not a large company. They don't sell that many products each month (in comparison with the likes of Logitech, Razer, Corsair, etc.). And being a small company that doesn't necessarily move a gigantic amount of products, their production costs  are higher (higher material costs because they're not buying in super bulk, cost of manufacturing is higher because they don't give the factory as many orders as larger companies, etc.), they need to make each individual product go further in terms of paying for salary, r&d, marketing, etc. Plus, they don't want to manufacture over the level of demand and be left with no money and too many products By doing the drop and selling 50-100 mice at a time, they can significantly reduce their margin and still be comfortable and profitable because it's actually a large order for them. The same can't be said about Corsair. Corsair is huge. They're a household name in the PC scene. They sell hundreds of products every day. Because they're so large, the benefits of a Massdrop sale are lost to them. They're not as stretched to make money, they don't need to get their name out there, and they move so much volume that doing a drop for a hundred or so people is silly. They could just do a normal sale, make a coupon, or a rebate and probably get the same or better results because they're already a brand that most people in the market for a product are considering.

A good example is the power supply poll I just got an email about. They're closing the poll because they're not going to be able to secure products from any of the vendors people suggested (largely due to them being major vendors, among other things).

Basically, you could suggest a Mionix, maybe a even a Func mousepad or a modmat, and you'd have a pretty good chance of getting it. But if you want the Corsair one, you might as well just look for a sale and buy it now, rather than waiting because it's very unlikely that it'll happen.

using styles blocks is only justified on 'proof of concept' pages (such as making an anchor tag look like a button).  it's easier to pass the test file (notice singular) to another person.  obviously you would have CDNs for major libraries and script blocks for js.

using it on a production site is NEVER a good idea unless you have a SMALL single page.*

the productivity loss from constantly scrolling back and forth from your html to css to find a class is gargantuan and just frankly very annoying.

    * there is one caveat where you inline the css needed for above the fold content to help the 1000ms to glass guideline....but inlining the CSS should be part of your build system, not something a dev would actually do during coding time.

It's a joke from IMGUR. Here's the link to it (it's hilarious but potentialy NSFW although all it is is text).
Well, what this would basically do is prevent Firefox from letting you download things you had loaded into the browser. i.e. Youtube videos, movies, etc. Basically, things that were made to abuse the fact that you have to download media to view it (unless you stream it), so that you can pirate it are prevented.
Agreed. Not sure what you mean? A typical usage scenario for what? The DRM?
It'd prevent you from downloading Youtube videos for example, as I mentioned above.

This is how I would do it, Video with position Absolute and z index -1000. Then you can easily work with relative position for the rest.
    Hope it helped.

PS: Maybe give a background if the video is loading, but anyway, I m not a big fan of background video

    HTML:
    <video id="video_background" preload="auto" autoplay="true" loop="loop" muted="muted" volume="0"><source src="#.webm" type="video/webm"><source src="#.mp4" type="video/mp4">Video not supported </video> CSS
    html{    min-height:100%;    position:relative}#video_background {  position: absolute;  bottom: 0px;  right: 0px;  min-width: 100%;  min-height: 100%;  width: auto;  height: auto;  z-index: -1000;  overflow: hidden; }

Vortex makes excellent Cherry MX keyboards, I'd heard of them for their 60% keyboards like the Poker range. I'm a proud owner of two of their keyboards, a 60% Vortex KBT Pure Pro green LED Cherry Blue:

A 75% Vortex KBT Race 2 with white LED and Cherry Blue switch:

Believe me, I'd not buy a keyboard if it isn't well liked and received by keyboard enthusiasts, hence I have a distinct lack of Razer keyboard in my 23 mechanical keyboard collection.

I am a strong advocate of Firefox (and develop the LTTNotifier for FF for that reason), but I should point out that Chrome does have a private browsing mode (incognito) which works just as well as private browsing in IE and FF. It is nice not being constantly tracked by Google because I'm using FF though.
Another key difference between the two browsers is the memory utilisation. As a heavy tab user (mostly when programming), Firefox's lower memory footprint is incredibly useful, as well as the ability to group tabs. Tab groups are incredibly useful, either for separating your stuff or removing the distractions.
Firefox is also more powerful in terms of the addons available because chrome only allows addons to do a few specific tasks, while disallowing addons from anywhere other than the chrome webstore (I think there are ways around it but still), whereas Firefox lets you modify the browser chrome (non-webpage bits like tabs, URL bar etc.), and you can see the C++, javascript and XPCOM source of the browser, allowing developers to see how Mozilla are doing it and improve upon it if required.

There's nothing particularly wrong with switching to Chrome, but watch out because Google is getting all yout data, and some stuff you could do on Firefox in terms of customisation (about:config & about:addons) is reduced in chrome.
