  1. POM usually means a type of plastic that is sometimes used for keycaps. you sure they didn't mean POM keycap instead.
  2. scales of economy. BOM is NOT the only expense for a product. more fullsize boards are sold than 60% boards. switches aren't 'epensive', they're just a large part of the BOM for a product with very high margins.
  3. it's easy to hatee something you never used. there were literally more i hate win8 votes than installs of windows 8 beta at one point. windows 8.1 blows the living shit out of win7 in terms of speed and features. you can make win8 look like win7 and work faster, but you can't get all the win8 non metro features on win7 and have it work as fast as win8. win8 gives you the freedom to make a choice; that's never a bad thing. don't like customization, go use os x, it really is better for you. EDIT: not trying to hate on os x(still sucks in reality though), but it literally is made for users who don't want to tweak things. windows developers spend their work hours making sure you have the ability to tweak things, os x devs spend their time researching the best defaults and making sure you can't change them. that's just how the two companies build their products differently
  4. CM storm rapid. your budget is VERY VERY low for a mechanical. keyboards are one area where you still have to pay more for miniaturization.
  5. <$700 4K for WORK is worth it. 4K for gaming requires about a $5000 budget for the monitor and GPUs....it's up to you if that's worth it.
  6. just run compatibility mode using admin rights my g930 works fine right after plugging it in
  7. because you don't need smooth motion for working in excel
  8. depends if you enjoy 'thrift shopping' on ebay and most likely putting in a lot of elbow grease after paying money. if so, go for model m. otherwise, if you're more concerned about getting something working asap, go unicomp
  9. i'm just confused why people haven't been able to differentiate between metro mode and desktop mode. they're almost entirely exclusive. they're BEST when used together, but it's totally possible to trick the user into thinking they're using windows 7
  10. out of curiosity, how much time would you estimate you spend in the start menu when you use windows 7? ^ that is the TRUTH about aliens...err Vista everyone that was complaining about vista used it before service pack 1 (when there were almost no printer drivers) or just never used it at all. don't get me wrong, windows 7 was a huge upgrade. it's just that alot of the stuff that people liked in 7 was also in vista (where do you think all of the windows 7 printer drivers came from?). just using printers because that one my peeve about vista, there were ALOT more imported low-level stuff than just printer drivers. it was a blessing after the maintenance nightmare that was XP.
  11. quickfire rapids are generally cheaper, but you lose backlights. it's up to you if you want to squeeze a little bit more out of your money. there's really no quality difference between those two boards.
  12. see...that's what I found too. But the linux guys I was talking to said that matched their vim layout, so I assumed that moving to HHKB style was just 'basic unofficial knowledge' thing everyone in vim was doing and the HHKB was made to take advantage of that basic knowledge. (god know how little is deprecated in unix/linux) I just find it ridiculous they could have used inverted-T cursors and intentionally chose not to. basically, they did EVERYTHING they could do to make using arrow keys difficult (but still keeping the 'we have arrow keys' checkbox) to 'smite' windows.
  13. hhkb has VIM style cursor keys that's the only non inverted-t style cursor block i've ever seen(other than numpad). as well, it's hidden in the function layer. absolutely no one would be able to figure that out on a blank hhkb unless they were a vim user.
  14. when people say that the HHKB is good for programming. they mean to say that it's good for vim. it's retarded to use in visual studio and more than a few HHKB users need to use the FC600C or something with cursor keys
  15. I don't see how this is possible at all. the chip itself is very aware that it is a usb3 controller. unless there's a setting already built-in, you would have to do something like rewrite the firmware and only make use of USB2 features. hypothetically.
  16. 4k is like only $100-$150 more than 1440p in NA the funny thing is, i actually spent more on my 1440p than my 4k
  17. ^only for people that need scaling. also an approval of metro UI incidentally lol. are you referring to something else? but ya, windows scaling is pretty good most of the time, but when it doesn't work with older programs, it gets REALLY bad. glasses > windows scaling.
  18. 4k gaming is definitely early adopter status atm...seems like you need to invest about 5.5k before you get 60fps+. obviously people who de,and the best won't give a fuck. 4k for work is freaking glorious though. only $700 for a dell 4k
  19. are you sure your stock cooler with decent case ventilation couldn't handle that?
  20. i personally haven't seen any confirmation about anythung. layout, prices, dates, etc. but it's safe to assume the k70 will get rgb treatment.
  21. not all of us have bad eyesight...you can't just say that some text is too small for everybody

    G700s/G19s

i'm not sure what to think of people who hate the K70s design. It's by far the classiest gaming keyboard out there and looks nothing like a standard board(ala ducky). I assume those people only like flashy board like the CM mech and those striker boards?
  23. the list goes on: full keyset compatibility (aka, no messed up mods) many many more backlight schemes detachable cable for easier storage/moving around + customizable cable obviously, these are all aesthetic things. But if aesthetics don't matter, why even get a K70? there are many many cheaper mx boards out there. remember, you are NOT the only keyboard customer out there. everyone values different things; that's why you buy k70s and other people buy duckys. blah blah blah freedom fries, 'murica fuck ya, etc. EDIT: sigh...whatever happened to forum software automerging doubleposts...we had this feature back in 2004, but all modern forums either have it turned off or removed
