Yeah, that was my bad, I missed that part of your first post like an idiot. Try unplugging the GPU from the motherboard and see if the fans can by slowly spun by hand. If you give it a light spin, they should continue on their own for a few seconds. Other than that I'd look for an obvious problem like inspect the fan wires for cuts or burns. Check the fan header on the PCB is still solidly on the board and the solder isn't broken. (I think its right next to the 6 pin power from the pictures I've looked at.)
-
Did you try using something like Afterburning to force the fans to 100% to make sure they truely don't work first? Edit: need to double read stuff @ 1 am Seems a little weird that a dual fan GPU would lose both at only 1 or 2 years old.

Cloned drive worked with 98% programs
normpearii replied to moderategamer's topic in Storage Devices
Some programs make a hardware ID at installation based off of the hardware present in the system as copy protection. Not all programs use this method. Windows is probably the best example of this I can think of. Windows 10 will reactivate itself without manually adding the license at installation just by matching the hardware id from the previous activation. Came in handy when my laptop harddrive died and my recovery disks were missing. -
Any good AM3+ gaming boards left?
normpearii replied to ROBOCRIPPLE's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
The stock cooler with the 2600 is good enough for even a slight overclock. Should be more than capable of holding out until you can get a better cooler down the road. -

? Cheap Micro Center flashdrive, had it since July 2015, 32 GB $7.99 at the time https://imgur.com/a/9HvOtS7 Older 8 GB Micro Center flashdrive from January 2014 (Also was $7.99 at the time) https://imgur.com/a/KkPhKXR If you're buying a "USB 3" flashdrive and not getting, at bare minimum, faster than USB 2 speed in a USB 3.0 or 3.1 port in 2018, I'd get a refund because you're being ripped off, or at least verify something else isn't bottlenecking. If Microcenter can get their branded USB 3.0 flashdrives to actually be faster than USB 2.0 in 2015, then other manufacturers don't really have an excuse at this point. I'm pretty sure Microcenter is just rebranding some cheap Chinese flashdrives. http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-Ryzen-5-1600-vs-AMD-FX-8350/3919vs1489 Pretty much anything over the 1600 and 2600 Ryzen is both faster in single and multi-threaded performance. The 2600 is only $169 on Amazon, pair it with a decent B450 or X470 motherboard in the $100-150 range. For memory, you need DDR4, I normally suggest 3000 or 3200 MHz for good balance on price to performance gain with the infinity fabric. I'd recommend getting a 2x8 GB kit off the bat if you can, but if your budget is tight, you can a single stick and deal with a latency hit to one of the CCXs temporarily then pick up a matching one shortly afterward. -
Ryzen 3000 series might have more than 8 cores

The Macbook is a poor example. The only reason it's having issues is because Apple didn't bother to think about cooling. The same CPU will be fine in laptops of adequate cooling. -
If your primary use case is single thread heavy applications (Most games) then get the 8700K.

One 8 pin power cable to 8 pin Y splitter for GTX 1080 hybrid?
normpearii replied to dlscientist's topic in Graphics Cards
What is the reason you want to use one 8 pin connector and split it? Do you only have a single 8 pin PCI-E connector? -
All I do is make sure my UPS is fully charged (Battery fully charged on laptops), check to make sure there are no obvious power issues (nearby thunderstorms, solar flare, working down the street), then I just do it. I feel it's a lot harder to mess up a BIOS update nowadays than it used to be.

Intel released Core i5+, i7+ and i9+ with Optane memory bundled
normpearii replied to Djole123's topic in Tech News
Probably the confusion everyone keeps causing when people keep calling Ryzen+ and Ryzen 2 interchangeably. Ryzen 2 is next year on 7 nm. Ryzen+ is the non-apu 2000 series processors being released this month. Though, I pretty sure you meant to post this in the other thread and not this one. -
8570 is the exact same card, was rebranded for OEM Sale
-
Seconded The 7570 would be every so slightly, barely better HP wise, but definitely not worth the money vs a 240. Especially if you end up needing more than 1 GB of VRAM in the future.

I don't crash on build 16299.309 (1709) However, there is a significant delay between color changes when windowed, they get longer each time I change to another color.

Time for a new fan. Most PC fans should never need service in their expected lifespan, if it has started making noise, it's either been forced off-balanced or the bearing is going already, in either of those cases, lubing won't help.
-
Honestly, if that's the attitude you hold in life, you probably don't deserve help at all.

Looks like he's right, here is a motherboard for one of those systems https://www.amazon.com/HP-Compaq-6005-MotherBoard-Part/dp/B00MX3TUSK Doesn't use standard 20/24-pin it seems.

NewEgg starting to Charge Sales Tax in More States
normpearii replied to Revan654's topic in General Discussion
Newegg doesn't claim to charge Sales Tax for New York: https://kb.newegg.com/Article/Index/12/3?id=1360 https://kb.newegg.com/Article/Index/12/3/?id=1932 Note, there are many more States than the 2nd link list that require you to play Sales Tax, that haven't forced Newegg to tell you to yet. -
Could pick up a Logitech K120. Pretty durable and they make pretty good backup keyboards, typically in the $7.99-$14.99 price range and can be picked up at a decent number of places like Walmart and Bestbuy, normally cheapest on Amazon.

I personally suggest https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator over the one Cooler Master has. Both are made by the same person, but this link is the one that is updated.

I always wake up significantly earlier than I need to be somewhere so that in the worst case scenario, I naturally wake up awhile after my alarm would be set in-case I somehow slept through it. Once your out of school, you need to understand that many employers simply don't care that there was a 5 car accident on your way to work that made you late, they will just not care, they will not baby you, now is the time to understand this, they expect you to be there anyway. The only way to do that is to be always early, get used to doing that now so its a habit before you're in a situation where there may not be a second chance.

Just checking some reviews on that model, 1.) At stock speeds, you're looking at around ~470 watts max load on from the motherboard/CPU and graphics card, not including other components. 2.) While that is a 700w total unit, it only provides 630w on the 12v rail, unlike most higher end brands that get much closer to total wattage. 3.) Techpowerup's review had quite a few bad things in it, like high voltage drop and poor cross-load results.
