  1. Long story short, I resized the partition Windows is installed on using AOMEI Partition Manager instead of Disk Management. It's been about 11 years since I last time I've resized a Windows install partition and completely forgot to only use disk management to resize it.

I get error 0xc0000242 when trying to boot windows. Safeboot get same boot error.

Using a windows 10 install flashdrive on the same version of windows 10, I've used the recovery command prompts to run chkdsk /f on the partition, no errors.

Auto startup repair comes up with error code 0x714 when trying to check for installed LCU.

I can't get SFC to work offline, get message "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service."

    using "sfc /SCANNOW /OFFBOOTDIR=J:\ /OFFWINDIR=J:\WINDOWS
(J: is the disk letter for the partition in recovery.)

and I have no idea how to run DISM outside a running install of Windows.

I'd prefer to attempt recovering this install of Windows. I have a 2nd PC at this desk and the SSD windows is installed on has 500 GB of unpartitioned space worst case.

My backup of this partition just happened to be on a harddrive that failed last week (Drive was in a separate PC) just to make things fun.

Any advice or ideas would be appreciated.

Yeah, but I can't get windows to use the costom res.

Shows up for me in Listed Modes

Selecting it get out of range error on my side monitor since it only supports 60 hz

Should add this is via DVI, HDMI doesn't appear to support custom resolutions and my main PC is using the only DP equipment monitor.

Edit: DVI via DP to DVI adaptor, Monitor is DVI and VGA, Vega 56 is DP and HDMI

    Spoiler

And seems to be impossible on amd. I like having a RX 480!

In Custom Resolutions, The option directly after resolution is refresh rate.

I don't have any displays that support non-standard refresh rates so your mileage may very. I can at least confirm setting 45 hz results in an out of range error on an old Samsung monitor.

    Edit: Second PC running Vega56.

  4. I'm pretty sure I have one of those motherboards somewhere.

Doesn't it have Onboard something like Radeon 3000 series Graphics with a bios setting for reserve memory for the intergrated graphics?

Edit: Yeah, in the bios, change the memory reserved for the intergrated grapics.

Also, what on earth is the ambient in that room?

Edit 2: If you're not using the integrated graphics, (the VGA port on the motherboard) there should be a setting to disable it as well.

Is there a reason to not just run everything on the 2060? I don't think you can have the drivers for both cards installed at the same time so that setup will get complicated pretty fast.

    You can.

Used to do so back about 8 years ago, I had an old Nivida integrated graphics chip on an ASUS AM2 board, paired with an AMD 5450 for a second display.

I'm selling a build today. The guy doesn't seem to know a lot about PCs. His son wants to play arma 3 and squad. The system has a ryzen 5 1600 and an RX 580 8gb.

The buyer asked if he picked up a hard drive if I could install. I said sure and sent him to microcenter.

The buyer calls me from the store and says that a salesman told him that he needs a more powerful graphics card. He wanted to sell him a 1660ti for $270. He told him that an rx 580 is not powerful enough and the game WOULD NOT WORK. WOULD NOT WORK!!!

Recommended settings on arma 3 is gtx 660 for crying out load.

I don't mind if the gut l guy said that the 1660ti is a more powerful card. True enough. But you have to lie?

    Welcome to Microcenter.

This is why I tell people to use their pickup now instead of finding it themselves. It's pretty much know what you're there for, or get talked into buying something you don't need.

We had a guy in a game I play go to Microcenter to buy new monitors to use with his 1080ti (Was using a TV)

Got talked into buying 1080p freesync monitors, even though we told him to get Gync Monitors. (2 years ish ago.)

I am well aware that i will be using the encoding on the gpu which is why im waiting till july for the cpu and would be waiting for the 2080 ti or  some other competator to come out with something new and possibly drop down the price as for the 8700k and the 9700k which would be better for handling the loads i appreciate the input  as well as when i try obs or stream elements i get worse performance and it struggles more :) @normpearii

Check edit, I added a bit.

If you're aiming for a 2080ti and GPU encoding. 9700k for higher clocks for the game.

  8. Wait til the new AMD processors launch in a few weeks.

Even if you're so hard set on not getting AMD parts. They might shake up the pricing of Intel's processors.

If you're streaming through nvidia's software, none of those CPU will change anything for you. You're currently using the encoder on the GPU instead of CPU encoding.

As is, the best thing to do would be in intentionally limit your FPS slightly, to free up the GPU a little so it's not pegged to full utilization. This will smoothen out the frame pacing on your livestream, cause right now, your stream is dropping into the mid 40s and not holding 60 fps.

I'm running a i9 9900k on a gigabyte aorus z390 elite and cooling it with Noctua DH-15. While running AIDA stress test on core, cache, FPU and system memory I get 9% throttling, and temps around 90-100 celsius.

While playing battlefield 5 i get to 80 celsius and core voltage is at 1.45 witch I think is too high and the processor runs at 4,8GHz. Can I decrese voltage?

What process did you use to overclock? That voltage seems pretty high to me.

i have been trying and it works on older drivers but now that i reinstalled latest one sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. so i guess its a bad driver?

P.S. i forgot to add this happend once in Fortnite like 3 drivers before this one

Yeah, send AMD a support ticket. Probably an unintended issue with the driver. Happens, unfortunately.

he can just appeal and a manual review will be done the many strikes that many people experience are because youtube changed their algorithm. Also i used to watch Mumbo Jumbo too. From what i know this A.I thats copyrighting videos

The group claiming the videos is the party that does the manual review.

If they decide they still want to keep the claims, they can. This is part of the reason why the system is completely broken.

if we cut away the military budget by like 75% this country's debt problem would go away pretty fast

75% of the current defense spending (~$635 billion) is ~$476.25 Billion.

The current deficit is ~$952 Billion.

So no, that doesn't even cover the deficit, let alone the debt. Besides, in 2008 defense spending was $630 Billion. The other large items (SS, Medicare, Fed Pension, Debt Interest etc.) have basically doubled in the last 10 years. Defense spending has actually managed to "barely" increase in 10 years.

    *Using numbers from usdebtclock.org

I'd be a little concerned about this being interfered with the weather. This will just have to be a layer of defense and we'll still need missiles and other methods of shooting down missiles to be kept in service anyway.
