  1. I already have a SATA SSD, so totally not worth it! Thanks for the reply!!
  2. Hi guys I've done a bunch of googling and couldn't find the answer to this... I have a MAXIMUS VI GENE mobo, and the manual says this re the m.2 slot: 1 x m.2 (NGFF) Socket 2 on mPCIe Combo II expansion card - supports PCI Express 2.0 x1 and SATA 6Gb/s standard - supports M.2 (NGFF) Type 2242 (22mm x 42mm) SSD card I want to use an SSD with interface PCIe Gen 3.0 × 4, NVMe 1.3. Can I use the SSD with this m.2 slot, and if so, what are the limitations on speed? Thanks!!
  3. Hi guys There's an auction going for the following motherboard https://trademe.co.nz/1261051807 The dude says works fine with win7 and not win10. I'm thinking about buying it and using win10. Is this just outdated BIOS or could it be more serious?
  4. Yeah, you can't use the API because it's a wix site. In other words, you're stuck with client-side stuff (HTML and JS). If this thingy works: https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id={channelID} Then use javascript to parse the XML, then you can get the latest video link and the rest is easy. (I would be more useful but I'm at posting this at work )
  5. Hey guys I'm thinking about fitting out the S340 Elite with a ASUS GTX 970 Strix and Kraken x61. The raditor for the Kraken has to go on the front of the case, vertically, reducing the space for the graphics card. The ASUS GTX 970 Strix is reeeally long, i.e. 11 " x 5.5 " x 1.57 " Inch 28 x 14 x4 Centimeter I have the feeling that the Kraken radiator + this card won't fit in the s340 elite. Can anyone confirm? Thanks!
  6. Hey guys I'm sure this is an easy one for you. I'm replacing my brother's laptop mobo. I remember hearing that you need to replace heat pads, i.e. these little blue things: Is that true? Do I need to replace those before putting it back together? I obvious know that I need to clean and reapply heat paste. Thanks!
  7. It's going I gave the CPU contacts a good cleaning, used less paste than last time (slightly more than a rice grain), and tried not to over-tighten the cooler which is a Kraken x61. I'm not 100% sure what the issue was, but I suspect that it was the CPU contacts. On first-glance it looks fine, but I did see a couple of flecks of whatever on 1 or 2 of the tiny connectors. I also spotted a tiny bit of thermal paste lying in the CPU socket immediately before I put the CPU back in. Thank you for your help, much appreciated.
  8. The CPU socket pins look ok. There was a spec of dust on one of them, and there appears to be some thermal compound on the edge (see middle right).... Are we sure its ok to go at this with isopropyl alcohol? Makes me kinda nervous just handling the CPU There doesn't appear to be any burns around the 24-pin connector, and yeah I haven't done any overclocking.
  9. Ok guys, here's the results of my testing: Each individual RAM stick works. I tried each one in the A2 slot (there are 4 slots, A1, A2, B1, B2, A1 being closest to the CPU and all 4 positioned to the right of the CPU); Two sticks in A1 and A2 work fine Any stick in either B1 or B2 throws the Q Code 55 error - i.e. any combination involving either of B1 and B2 will throw the 55 error. Is it my mobo? T.T
  10. It's 2 sets of 2x4GB Avexir Blitz 1.1 Red LED DDR3. Mobo is Maximus VI Gene. I will do this in the morning! Yup, I tried that.
  11. Hi guys I upgraded my RAM. Wooh. But then it didn't work I have a maximus VI Gene and 4 sticks of RAM. When I have all 4 sticks in there... I get a QO Code of 55 which means there's an issue with the RAM. However, if I put a single RAM stick on the second slot (recommended config in the manual), it works fine (which is how I'm posting this). Any idea why the multiple sicks arent going? I read there could be an issue with the cooler being fastened incorrecly. I've got a Kraken x64, but I hope that's not it x.x I tried a config of the 2 furtherest RAM slots from the CPU and it doesn't run.
  12. Hey guys Quick question. I'm thinking about buying this: https://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=MEMAXR10003&qr=pspy&ref=pricespy Can I use 2 sets to get 16GB. The kit is 2x4 and I want to use it in a Asus Maximus VI Gene Is the RAM crap? (it's on sale but still relatively cheap)
  13. So on that product page it says the chipset is this That doesn't really seem specific enough. But I've found an intel hn76 HP Pavilion 14/15 with the same chipset, which is cheap. Would that work at all? Will any Intel HM76 work? Sorry I'm a bit inexperienced with laptops
  14. Hey guys I've had my laptop's motherboard needs replaced. However, it costs a huge amount to get a replacement mobo, nearly the cost of a whole new laptop because I'd need to import from US to NZ. The laptop is here: http://www.msimobile.com/level3_productpage.aspx?id=371 An MSI gaming series GE60 0ND-257US. Has got these: Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM Processor NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660M 2GB GDDR5 I've had it tested and know for certain that the mobo has blown components. My question is....... do I need the exact mobo that is currently in here? Can I use something cheaper and floating around for a much cheaper price? I'm really strapped for cash at the moment and sorta need the cheapest option to get this up and running. Thanks in advance for the help!
