  1. I recently started university while also working, I can do it remotely from university. I don't want to use my work laptop for personal use, because I don't want my company to have access to my personal info. The work laptop is a Dell Inspiron 5590 (4-5 years old, compared to the 11th gen of everyone else...). I bought a brand new HP Pavillion 15. The Dell's charger is rated at 60W, while the HP is for 45W. I'm looking for a charger that can charge both at the same time so I don't have to lug the chargers around. I saw a few GaN 100W chargers for a good price. But the issue is most have a 60/30W (at 20V) split when using both USB-C's. 60 watt is obviously fine for the Dell, but will it be an issue if I charge my HP with below the rated power. It has a Ryzen 7 5825U, and I doubt it uses 45W aside from synthetic benchmarks. There was one more expensive charger - Baseus 120W with a 60/60W split, will it be an issue for my HP, because I think there is only one mode at 20V -> 60W. Or is controlled in a smart way with an automatic current adjustment? I know there are some sort of charging protocols? I'm not really sure what to do, I know I won't damage the laptops, but I don't have a good understanding of "charging" tech. Could someone suggest what I should buy?
  2. Hello, I'm a bit torn right now. I am currently using an old 20in 1680x1050 (16:10) monitor. When I need to study for university I have to open a few different programs word, excel, chrome, pdf book etc... And I really can't fit anything more than a word and excel file on each half on my screen without it being just too small for use. I occasionally play games as well, mainly older titles circa 2011-2014 (Mass effect, Deus ex, Battefield 4....). They run great on my RX 480 8GB. I can't decide between a 24 inch or a 27in 1440p monitor. For reference, the only other monitor I have used was a curved AOC 144Hz 1080p 24in monitor. And the PPI was atrocious, I could see the pixels standing at about my usual viewing distance and playing games on it was not a good experience, very blurry. My 20in monitor has a good PPI for me. Considering that, I would like to get a 1440p, as I can also get more workspace and PPI as well. Now I'm sure that both a 24 and 27 in monitor will have enough clarity at 1440p. The problem is the size, I'm limited by my desk, it is a weird shape. 27 inches seems huge especially at my usual viewing distance of about 75-85cm (about 2.5 ft). I get eye strain very easily and don't want to really move my head around, and at 27 I think I will need to. So my question is, if anyone was in a similar situation to me, what did they choose, was it a good choice? Is there a point to 1440p on 24 in? My current pick is Philips 245B1, it's the cheapest one with a height adjustable stand and I really don't want to pay more. I don't need 144Hz, but I would like freesync and this philips has it along with a 75Hz panel. It satisfies my needs. The other choice is the BenQ BL2420PT, it does not have freesync and I really don't need color accuracy so much, also the bezels are bigger, I want a more modern design for the price (the BenQ is 2015 model, while the Philips is a 2019). I've looked at mainly 24in models. Kind of afraid of 27in models just by their size looking at them at stores, no idea how it will be on my desk. I would like recommendations on 27in models, but I need a height adjustable stand. Thank you for reading my rant, it's very hard me to make these kind of choices, I want everything to be perfect
  3. Well guess that's what I'll do today. You've been commenting on every thread for the last hour or so, damn dude.
  4. So my RX480 has been pegging to 90+ degrees no matter what, was just testing it with the side panel off + the front panel was off too. It was still going 90 degrees in Battlefront 2. Normally this isn't an issue if I apply stock mV settings (this is the Red Devil RX480), if I lower it to even 1070mV it seem to not like that too much and sometimes crashes after 20-30minutes or during an explosion in game. I run it at 1100mV, memory underclocked to 1950Mhz and core clock underclocked to 1300Mhz, fan curve ends at 73% and is at 73% over 60 degrees. I bought the card used, tested it on this very PC with FurMark, didn't budge 83 degrees after 20 minutes. Again it was on open air, I just wanted to see how the card was working. My PSU is the Seasonic Focus Gold PLUS 550W. It seems this series of PSU has some issues with Vega 56/64, maybe it also has it with my RX 480? These issues were reported after I bought my system, 4 days later in fact "sadface". I don't have another PSU to test with. So now to the artifcating (happened for the first time) - I closed Battlefront 2, as there were no players to fill a game, it was running the menu for 20 min at 90 degrees and 93 peak. I closed the game. And then after 10s my screen had a something similar to the "Nvidia space invaders". The fans of the card were blasting, then they stopped, the screen went dark (And I thought I was fucked) but then it just went normal again. Maybe it cooled too fast and due to heat expansion and shrinkage caused a problem? No idea. I changed the Thermal paste 4 months ago. It was "fine" then, still running kinda hot but not anything too bad. The paste is Arctic MX-4. I had previously changed it and the thermal paste gad splashed across the outside of the GPU die, almost nothing was in it. Could it be the weight of the card had moved cooler so the paste moved?
  5. I have an RX 480 Red Devil, changed the paste 3 months ago. It had "ok" temps, as good as they are going to get on a RX 480. But recently the thermals are abysmal, it just goes to 90'C immediately when I fire Battlefront 2 and crashes within 10 minutes. When I go to my desktop the card is pegged at 90, throttles and goes to 83. When I go in game it's a bit better. So my question is, can it be that the cooler is over time going away from the chip (increasing distance) because of the weight of the cooler, and as a result the thermal paste can't have a good contact? Should I try to tighten it more? Kinda scared I might do something. The last time I opened the card, the thermal paste was pushed out of the chip, it was around it. I had similar problems. This RX 480 Red Devil is just a complete nightmare, I can't play games at all.
  6. So I removed the side of the case, and as expected the temperature is lower, but interestingly when I Alt+Tab Battlefront 2 the temperature is higher than when I enter enter menu. 84C average while in main menu doing nothing, 90C average Alt+Tabbed on my Desktop. 72% fan speed. Im too scared of playing, don't want to have another crash. I am running a full anti malware scan, so my CPU is at 50% usage, but I doubt that would make a significant difference, especially with and open side window.
  7. I was just removing my side, doing it right now
  8. I got it from a dude about a year ago. I was used to a GT 730 so at first I didn't have case fans, but after the first 15 minutes I learned that was a no go. I use an old case from 2006. I have 2 80mm fans that move a lot of air (high RPM), my PSU fan above them (all exhaust) and a 120mm fan at the front (intake), not a lot but it should work fine for an RX 480 if I underclock it a bit. I have plans to drill holes for new fans and add dust filters (but can't find filters anywhere). I am in a bit of a Star Wars mania now and opened up Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017), after 30 min of updates I opened the game up and Alt+Tab it to see MSI afterburner, it was 92C , undervolted it to 1050mV, underclock to 1297Mhz, more aggresive fan curve - even at 100% it was still the same 92C. I entered the game, stayed in the menu for 10s and my monitor turned off... PC still ran, I thought it was the end of my GPU, but I restarted it and it works normally. It is cold in my room now, yet in the summer I was able to play TitanFall 2 maxxed out at 1050mV (crashed at stock 1150mV). I really need help on this one, tried everything, it is on the "energy efficient" BIOS - my card is a Red Devil RX 480 8GB, has dual BIOS. PS: It was hot even when I got it so I torn it down and put MX-4 thermal paste (not a lot) - there wasn't any noticeable temperature difference.
  9. I just found the issue, it's just the developers were being iffy about it. You have to click a random button next to your inventory. I doubt I would have done that in-game, like ever.
  10. So I bought the Digital Deluxe version because it was 8 euro on steam. I haven't received anything in-game. In Human revolution, there was a prompt that told me I had a pre-order bonus. I should have gotten 5 praxis kits and some other things but I have nothing.
  11. I bought both, I wanted to buy Titanfall because ever since it released in 2013? I really wanted to play it. I didn't know it was so unpopular.
  12. I want to buy Battlefront 2 and Titanfall 2. They will cost 15 euro. I have 21 left in my student debit card (I used to get a few bucks a month from my high school). I just got a new gaming pc and the only thing I play is BF1 and I love it, but I kinda want some new games.
  13. What would you recommend? I wouldn't like to pay more than 80$ but even 100$ is fine tbh.
  14. I don't understand anything about headphones, I just bought them because a really good store sold them - I went to test them and they fit me perfectly. Tried other headphones, the ones with 40mm really make my ears hurt after about 15-30min of usage. Next time I buy headphones I will look at a bit more expensive ones and will also check AKG
