it's a great CPU if you're using it for gaming. i used to have an i5 4670k and it was great. i assume you won't be doing any overclocking since you're looking at the 4690 and not the 4690k? either way, it's a solid processor. if you're a video editor or use alot of 3D applications, an i7 would be the way to go. if not, an i5 is perfect.

I just did this to my Rampage V Extreme.  Various techniques I've seen include masking all the slots and spraying with plasti-dip, but I actually wanted only the (red) slots and ports painted, not the PCB.  What I decided to do was mask the parts of the board around the slots and use a small brush with acrylic paint.  For the SATA ports, I dabbed the outside with a cottonball.  I'll post a video with the process here and on my buildlog (http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/461552-nostromo-x99-rve-5960x-980ti-3-way-sli-caselabs-sth10-petg-aquacomputer/) and video log on youtube.  Here are the results:

I personally love this case.  I did have to mod it a bit to put in the reservoir but it was just a dremmel tool and about 5 min.

try logging into your router via your internet browser and reset it to factory settings in the menu and the router will refresh itself. i used to have this same very problem, and when it would act up i would reset it to factory defaults. it would be perfectly fine afterwards about 20 minutes after doing it. hope this helped or maybe gives you an idea.

Heisennburgg got a reaction from leelaa14 in 980Ti - Still Having Color Issues?
Wow, thank you so much for suggesting that because without you suggesting that I'd forever have been trying to figure out what was wrong. I was using Windows Photo Viewer in Windows 10 to view my shots because in Windows 7 it was fine. I used something called "Photos" to view them, and low and behold, they were normal. Thank you so much!

I had an issue like this once, turned out it was something to do with windows photo viewer and not the pictures themselves. Maybe try using another app to view the pictures and see if it's any better?

Heisennburgg got a reaction from ShadowCaptain in How did you guys save up for your PC?
working at a restaurant bussing tables and bartending on weekends. i made about $1,300 a week after tip-out. my PC when I first ordered all the parts before I upgraded was around $1500, took me about 2 months to save up because of bills and life and stuff. total, i've probably spent close to $6000 on my PC from upgrades. it feels much much better to save up the money yourself for your own PC instead of having your parents give the money to you, feels way more rewarding  best of luck!

Heisennburgg reacted to NumLock21 in Xeon vs Core/what is Xeon (question)
Hundred cpu cores start out on this very shiny waffle like platter and it goes through some test. Those that pass with flying colors gets the Xeon name and then it trickle down from Core i7 all the to Celeron. If current cpu don't have this stupid "lock" on it, and every cpu can be OC, then a Xeon will most likely reach that same overclock as a desktop cpu, using much lower voltages and have lower temps. Xeon is build for th 24/7 environment where stability is their main focus.

This is the first time that I've done a custom build and I'm pretty excited so far.

    Specs:

    CPU: Intel i7 5930k
    MOBO: ASUS X99-A
    MEM: GSkill DDR4 2400 16gig
    VIDCARD: NVidia GTX 980
    HD: 2x Intel 240gig SSD
    COOLER: H105 liquid cooling system
    PS: EVGA 1000w Platinum
    CASE: Corsair 750

I've been running Prime95 for about an hour so far and I've attached a screen shot of my current temps. My inspiration for building my own computer came from watching the LinusTechTips on YouTube. What an awesome group of guys and great videos.

yes on Shadowplay and bandicam. Dxtory i can NEVER get to work for some reason, and never tried xsplit or obs. Shadowplay is amazing but it washes out the colors on gameplay footage for me

Thanks for all the replies - I just hooked it up and enabled SLI and everything is working fine, I ran a few benchmarks and I'm getting great performance. Played The Witcher 3 in SLI for about 15 minutes as well and was averaging 50FPS with everything on ultra. Only problem is the temperatures, even though I have the fan speed turned to 100% when I'm gaming on both cards.

I believe everything must be the same to sli cards or at the very least it will downclock one of the cards to work. Also check the device ID's of the gpu's. If it has a different device ID it wont work in sli period. Had that issue when I had two 780 sc acx 6gb cards.

To check the Device ID number go to nvidia control panel then click on system information. From there scroll down in the menu that pops up till you see device ID.

It will work just fine as it's the same GPU. The FTW may slow down to the SC speeds, though.
