I've been checking the LTT channel regularly every day after work (around 4pm PST - usually when I do my youtube rounds) and I still haven't seen any announcement video on the Verified Gamer Program, only to find out today I missed it a couple days ago? When did the video go live, so I know when I should be checking for next time?

I've seen they like to upload at 10am PST or earlier, but Linus said on the WAN show that they might do some drops at different times so people from all over the world have a chance

knight_40k got a reaction from OmegaStorm in 9.1 Surround - Is it any good?
As others have said, the problem with 9.1 is there is zero recorded content for it. Also, anything past 5.1 you need to have the appropriate space/room layout for proper/ideal speaker placement.

With 9.1/11.1, basically how it works is the receiver takes a 5.1/7.1 audio track and separates it in such a way to give content to the additional channels. The added front height and front wide speakers when used together for 11.1 greatly increases the front sound stage for a more immerse experience. I have an 11.1 home theater and can tell you from experience it does a darn good job!

You would be better to slowly build a 5.1 system with quality components rather than an all-in-one solution like that one. Proper bookshelf or tower speakers will have far superior sound quality and a better range of frequencies. Even if you have to start with 2.0/2.1, you will probably be more satisfied with the overall experience compared to any 5.1/7.1/9.1 cheap-o box system.

By the way, you never specified a budget.

knight_40k got a reaction from lieder1987 in Where can i sell Destiny 2 key from Geforce?
Selling will be tricky unless you can sell to a friend because you will need to activate the game code in Geforce Experience which checks your hardware (graphics card) to make sure you have the card installed that the game was bundled with. From there you will need your friend to come over and log in to steam on your system (or if they trust you just get the login and password) so it thinks your computer is attached to that steam account. Once the game is activated in steam that owner is free to play on any computer.

So unless the person you are selling the code to also has the same graphics card but didn't get the bundle, it will be hard to sell IMO.

knight_40k got a reaction from Mira Yurizaki in Bought 1080 ti from Newegg with game, how do I redeem the game?
Newegg will send you an email that contains the steps on how to go about redeeming the game along with a code of some sort. Sometimes it can take a couple days/weeks before you receive it though.

knight_40k got a reaction from 8uhbbhu8 in The Pokémon Thread
I was feeling nostalgic around the time Pokemon Go was released. I hadn't seen a Pokemon game or watched the TV show since middle school. My younger brother had a DMG (the original Game Boy) but I never really wanted to play it, though I used to like watching him play. So last year I decided to pick up 2 DMG's on Craigslist with Pokemon Red/Blue so I could trade Pokemon and collect all 151 without a gameshark. I later bought a GBC (Game Boy Color) with the cable link adapter and Pokemon Crystal/Silver/Gold which I had never played as a kid. I beat them all, now I picked up Zelda Oracle of Seasons/Ages since I absolutely loved Legend of Zelda on the NES.

I got him to agree to $150 CAD down from $200 for the non-k 3770 making it hard to justify spending $300 for the K version unless, how much of a difference would an OC make in CPU bound games like Total War Warhammer? Should I just get the non-K?

    How is an i5 overkill?

it looks fairly balanced imo. But these days Ryzen 1600 is the way to go if you are looking at an i5 price point.

Get a GTX 1080, another 8GB of RAM, and If you can find a used 3770K you should have a decent system for a while.
