  1. So I have a laptop that I hadn't turned on for about 3 years. Had to use it the other day and decided it would be a good idea to update windows first... Ran multiple rounds of updates before finally getting to 1903. Got to the the part where it tells you "update requires restart". I restarted and now it's been on the blue start-up (Working on updates 91% Don't turn off your PC. This will take a while) screen for literally 2 full days. I don't know what to do now. I have all my music on there and some old files that I never backed up (I know, I'm dumb). Will the system just fail if I force close it with the power button? Help! Thanks all!
  2. Current system: i5 6600k, asus z170i, evga supernova 650 gs, 16GB hyper x fury 2400, evga 1070 ftw, 2TB WD Black, 480GB PNY CS1311 2.5" SATA SSD. So the other day I was messing around in the bios and accidentally turned on "rapid storage technology" (apparently you can only do that before setting the system up?). The system wouldn't boot and I had to go back into the bios and turn it off... After turning it off, the system didn't want to boot again, but finally did after windows repair and 3 tries. Then the next time I booted up it took 2 tries. It booted fine today, but I'm taking online classes and finals are in 2 weeks so I don't want to take any chances. I bought a Samsung 970 PRO 512GB - M.2 NVMe SSD. I figured I'd do a fresh install of windows on it since I've heard cloning is a hassle and who knows what I did to the PNY lol. My question is, after a fresh install, can I just "restore from backup" the Samsung and have everything (settings, data, etc) that were on the PNY? Thanks guys!
  3. Think I got it... Took out the video card and have a post!!
  4. Tried the reset button on the case and mashing <del> to enter bios, now i'm getting a "boot device" error led...
  5. I just built my first system. I have an Asus z170i, i5-6600k, hyper212 evo, 16 gb hyper x fury memory, hue+, gtx 1070, 480 gb ssd, and 2 tb hdd all hooked up. Everything is powering on, there are no error codes displayed on the board, but I'm not getting any video out of either the video card (which I expected since there are no drivers installed yet), or the MB hdmi port... Any thoughts?
  6. This vid... And your our answer makes perfect sense, thanks! I'll have to do a little research tomorrow. (smh, that actually should have been obvious lol)
  7. So I'm building my first PC tomorrow using a Z170I pro-gaming in a Fractal Nano S. I wanted to use 2 140mm fans for front intakes. However, that would require either a fan splitter cable on one header on the board, or a molex powered fan hub. I'd prefer to use a splitter to keep pwm fan control, but in the Asus review of the board JJ says he does not recommend that. Just wondering if splitting 1 header on the board to 2 fans will hurt the board?
  8. That is a great tip! I thought about it, but decided against it because I wanted to get their 0% credit card deal for 12 months. If you don't pay till you get there, I'll be doing that for sure Friday before work! Awesome!
  9. I love the place! I've only ever been to MC once before and it was like nerd-paradise lol... And I did figure in that $30, the Z170I is $159 before the bundle. I'm hoping there'll be a sale, or I can smooth-talk my way into a discount lol...
  10. F'n-A! Looks like another $30 for the 'ole Steam account!
  11. True enough, but it looks cool AF! I figured if I'm already dropping that much, what's another $80 for a little pop-n-sizzle...
  12. I actually first did the build using PCPC's "lowest advertised price" option for all the parts, and MC came out cheaper. I'm also one of those people who kinda get's off on going to the store and assembling a buggy full of parts lol... MC has some other LED kits, so I'll take a look at other options. I just keep seeing that Hue+ all over the place and figured it must be pretty decent. Thanks for the tip...
  13. I just looked, MC doesn't carry the Cryorig, but I intend for my first upgrade to be an AIO. As far as the RAM, aren't there benefits to having dual channel? I might upgrade to more later, but figured 16 should be good for now...
  14. No missing adaptors, screws, cables then? Everything should be included with the parts?
  15. Hey guys, I'm about to take a MicroCenter run next Saturday (hopefully there'll be a sale for Labor Day) to finally build my first gaming PC. I really need to know if I have everything (Microcenter is like 90 minutes away, I'd hate to get home and realize I forgot something that I assumed was included with the case or mobo). I put a lot of thought into the parts I've selected, and they're pretty much set. However, I am open to suggestions. All prices listed are from MicroCenter except: SSD which I will be buying with a BestBuy gift card; Win10 which I intend to get from Kinguin; and HDD which I already have (along with mouse/keyboard/controller). Thanks in advance for the help... Here's the PC Partpicker list: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/FB6Ncc
